I have some friends in Nypd. They are on highest alert. Some guys that haven't been in uniform in some years are out there today and tomorrow . Holidays and vacation cancelled. I saw this as well. Had the same questions. My rinky-dink operation has at least three redundant systems. Like most, we have our primary systems "in the cloud" through Amazon. Depending on your system, alarming the one window can be easy or really really hard. Then I would recommend an auxiliary lock for the sash that automatically locks when the window is closed. If you can be sure the window of locked as much as possible add a glass break sensor to your alarm system in that room so if a window breaks it sets off the alarm. They're cheap and they work.
