Me too... added some 12 gauge slugs to this order as well... I definitely spend too much on ammo, but I figure it's good forever and it's not going to get cheaper in the future.

I saw this pop up on gunbot this morning so I grabbed one (and a little Kershaw knife for $8). This brings me up to ~5,000 rounds of .22 ammo. I almost have enough now.

1000rds Sellier & Bellot 9mm 115gr ammo $242 shipped
mark_anthony_78 replied to Blake's topic in Hot Deal Discussions
While I can't 100% confirm it was the ammo, S&B is the ONLY one (so far, after ~750 rounds of various brands) that caused two FTE's in my Ruger SR9. First FTE (horizontal stove-pipe) was solved with a Tap/Rack/Bang, but the second (about 5 shots later) was a double feed that required additional effort. I still have some that I'll use up at the range. It's not yet on my "do not buy" list, but I'd personally look for other brands first. -

I got a NJ compliant M&P-15 Sport a month ago for $675 (cash) + tax + NICS The shop probably would have done $675 credit, but they are good guys and I figured they could use the extra 2% in their bank account. So far I've gotten 5 guns from them and they always cut the best deal. Two other local shops were asking $700 and $799 respectively, + 2% CC fee + tax + NICS

Time to vote in another ANTI poll by NJ.com
mark_anthony_78 replied to Howard's topic in General Discussion
80% may "say" they want more background checks or whatever, but 90% of the people in this state are too lazy to get off their butts and vote, so it's not an issue that they really care one way or the other about. If you ask me what my favorite color is, I may say "blue" (along with many other people) but if the Governor were proposing a bill to pick an official state color, most of us wouldn't give a rat's ass what he did despite the results from the poll. -
NJ.com poll on more background checks
mark_anthony_78 replied to wooly bugger's topic in General Discussion
OK, so 65% of the people who sit on their ass and don't really care one way or the other voted in a phone poll... 100% of the pro-2A, NRA, NJ2AS, ANJRPC, etc. members actually got up and did something to let Christie and Sweeney know that these bills are a crock of s**t. Phone polls are useless... we're active, determined, and VOCAL. -
We're all too spread apart! Buying 10 at a time makes the total price pretty good, but I've already spent a ton of money this month on gun stuff!

I agree, that kills a lot of deals (not that J&G is way out of the ballpark on shipping - everyone is expensive). Now, if anyone in the Hackettstown area wants to go in on a bulk buy, I'd commit to 5 mags and everyone splits the shipping.

Sweeney just said Centerpiece gun control is DEAD!!!!

Hopefully the NRA will get a chance to give Niki Trunk a rating next year... -
The end of airport firearms transport?
mark_anthony_78 replied to SJG's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
So how exactly do you do that without drawing attention? I assume you have to unbox your ammo, load your mags, etc? Just make a pit stop in the restroom for all of that? -
Until the citizens of NJ can do this, no hope for gun laws
mark_anthony_78 replied to Old Dog's topic in General Discussion
I absolutely hope Sweeney gets his butt kicked by Niki this year. But here's the question: If Sweeney's out, who becomes Senate President? I thought I heard somewhere the Weinberg would be next... -
Steel shooting at Shongum USPSA match today.
mark_anthony_78 replied to Howard's topic in General Discussion
I guess this is what "USPSA" (Practical Shooting) meant on the calendar? I just joined the club a few months ago, and haven't really done any organized events yet (just open range use), but this looks like fun. -
Sounds like he is the kind of criminal we all hope will be caught to stop him from continuing to give the rest of us gun owners a bad rap. This isn't like some no-knock raid on an innocent person who get's nailed because the bayonet lug hasn't been filed off his collector's piece.

Good price for S&W M&P-15 Sport?
mark_anthony_78 replied to mark_anthony_78's topic in AR Discussion
So I ended up at a different shop (where I've actually purchased all but one of my guns) and picked up my new M&P-15 Sport today. Got 100 rounds to get me going until I can find cheap ammo on the net (maybe!). Actually, 53 cents a round for Federal brass isn't insanely horrible from whatI've seen on Gunbot. Looking forward to range time some night this week... -
So looking forward to my Utah CCW class on September 28th!

Colion Noir awesome 2A representative (I love this guy)
mark_anthony_78 replied to bignic83's topic in General Discussion
The problem is, who outside of the NRA or frequent members of gun-related blogs/websites has even heard of him? The average anti-gun (either willful or ignorant) person isn't searching for Colion Noir on Youtube. -
Increased Sales Tax on Guns and Ammo
mark_anthony_78 replied to czechmark's topic in Pending Legislation Discussion
I dont' think it's being "debated" as much as it's being ridiculed as a worthless idea. Debate would require arguments from both sides, and I haven't seen any support for additional taxes from any of the members here. -
Good price for S&W M&P-15 Sport?
mark_anthony_78 replied to mark_anthony_78's topic in AR Discussion
I stopped by the club to observe for a little while tonight... probably saw you but since I don't know who you really are I couldn't say hi! I haven't yet done trap officially, but I've thrown my own clays for a Winchester SXP that I bought a few months ago. I have no doubt that the PSA's being recommended are great guns, but I think the Sport has 98% of their capability for a few hundred less (and that's still about 120% of what I need a gun to do). It seems right now the cheapest they have in stock is $799, and when you add in NICS + transfer fee it will be well over $800, assuming what they have in stock is even what I'd want. When the day comes to build my own AR, I want to have some time under my belt with a factory stock model so I know exactly what I like and don't like, and PSA will be at the top of that list. Besides, if I got the "ultimate" gun right off the bat I'd have no excuse to buy another one -
Good price for S&W M&P-15 Sport?
mark_anthony_78 replied to mark_anthony_78's topic in AR Discussion
How did you add a brake? It looks like the stock barrel on the neutered NJ version is just chopped off at the end, no threads or anything. -
Good price for S&W M&P-15 Sport?
mark_anthony_78 replied to mark_anthony_78's topic in AR Discussion
So $764 in my hand tomorrow (if I decide to buy) or ~$650 if/when these discount places ever get stock again I do tend to tweak once I have something, but jumping in to a build with various PSA parts is probably one level above where I want to be with this first one. I wouldn't feel like the S&W is sub-par as I've seen mostly positive reviews that generally raise the same points you just did. As far as the lack of dust covers and FA, for my purposes that would only affect the "look" of the firearm. Never had a dust problem on any of my other firearms, and I've heard mixed reviews on the usefulness of FA (some claiming all it does is jam the misshaped round farther into the chamber). -
I'm not sure what forum this belongs in, but I figure "General" is harmless enough... My LGS has a few S&W M&P-15 Sports in stock, and is asking $700 for them. This is obviously the NJ compliant one (no brake, non-adjustable stock, etc..) I figure for my first AR I'll keep it simple and reliable and just add some optics later on. I have many years left to really explore the custom DIY builds with fancy uppers/lowers/etc. So my question, is $700 in the reasonable ball-park or does someone have a secret supply they're willing to divulge where I can get it cheaper? I don't want to drive all over the state to save $10, but if we're talking more in the $500 - $600 range it may be worth a longer trip.

Increased Sales Tax on Guns and Ammo
mark_anthony_78 replied to czechmark's topic in Pending Legislation Discussion
Walmart in East Stroudsburg and Nazareth have been pretty slim/empty on handgun and most rifle ammo the past few times I've visited over the last several months. Just obscure calibers, mostly. They do usually have 12G shotgun ammo, from about $7/box for game loads up to some expensive stuff. Dunkelbergers in East Stroudsburg likely has anything you need, for a price. I was there a few months back and the cheapest .22LR they had was about $38 per box of 500, but at least their shelves were well stocked at the time. -
Increased Sales Tax on Guns and Ammo
mark_anthony_78 replied to czechmark's topic in Pending Legislation Discussion
Because a deranged killer cares if his box of ammo costs $30 instead of $20?
