  1. Thanks for this. Picked up a box yesterday. Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2
  2. http://www.thermoldmagazines.com/2ar-15-mlcb/ I bought these ones with the doubler - they can easily be separated and it works out cheaper than buying singles.
  3. I have 15 rounders from Thermold. They are native 15 - no mods needed. Thermold got a bad reputation after the Canadian military bought the licence and made their own using the wrong plastic. Buy genuine Thermold with confidence.
  4. Just call the dredger. They can check the whole river for you - maybe you'll find the lost items from other tragic boating accidents.
  5. Nice one - congratulations. It's always nice when hard work pays off.
  6. I would not think transporting firearms in the required NJ way could be considered "armed". Unloaded and in a place you can't easily get to does not make you armed. Would you think having your firearms locked in your safe at home while you are there constitutes being armed?
  7. The staff shoot on Friday afternoon was a balmy 42 degrees with sunshine and no wind. About 1.5 inches of snow fell overnight Friday and the paying customers felt the Arctic Blast properly both Saturday and Sunday. I was working the pit at the top of the hill and it was definitely cold. After the snow had been stepped on a few times it got really slick too so the shooters had to step carefully. I take my hat off to the girls toting up the scores because my handwriting is terrible at the best of times and is significantly worse when I can't feel my fingers. I managed to come away with 1st place CDP Sharpshooter, but no bump because there weren't enough people in the division.
  8. I shot the match today as staff. Raw time was 164.43 with 18 points down for a total of 173.64. Only time will tell if I went too slow. Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2
  9. Heritage Guild does a Utah course for around $130 and you have to pay the $51 fee to Utah yourself. I did it last month and I'm waiting for the permit t arrive. http://register.asapconnected.com/CourseDetail.aspx?CourseID=23392
  10. I can't too much away but you won't like stage 1 - Bwa-Ha-Ha-Ha-Ha
  11. I have my cold weather gear all sorted out so I'll be just fine thanks Bob. I also designed the stages for Somerset on Sunday so I know what you're in for - hopefully they'll make you smile. Stu.
  12. Wilkes-Barre in PA. If you have not already signed up, it's too late. No walk-ons I believe. Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2
  13. I'll be working at the match. I don't know which bay yet but if you come across a British guy, that'll most likely be me. Come and say hello. Good luck to anyone competing. Stu.
  14. I believe the tangle revolved around that fact that one of the options is that you effectively have a locker on their premises and can access your gun at any time. It does not get entered on their FFL bound book and you don't need any permit to get it back. Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2
  15. I assume you live in NJ (guessing because of the forum). If your buddy is an NJ resident too this can be doable. If he is not, you will need to do any transfer via an FFL. If it is a pistol you will need a PtP to take possession. If it is more than 1 pistol you will need a PtP for each and an OGAM exemption. For a long gun a COE is needed per firearm and you need to have an FID. If you can't get the paperwork done in time there is a company that started up last year which will be able to help - but for a fee, obviously. https://firearmssupportandstorage.com/storage/gunsitters/ Apparently it took a ton of work to sort out the legal mess that is NJ gun law to enable these guys to offer this service. I have not used them so cannot vouch for them. One of their guys came to a SCFGPA general meeting last year to raise awareness of their services (sales pitch). Hope it helps.
  16. My definition of a stuck case: The case holder rips off part of the rim and the case is left in the die. The remedy is to loosen the collet and drive the case out using a punch on the decapping pin. With the rim ripped up, the case is scrap. Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2
  17. With both my XD and Glock I can reach the mag release without shifting my grip. Getting a gunwhich you can operate easily with the size hand you have is the best way, I think. Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2
  18. Thanks all for your input. It sounds like this is not all that unusual so I'll not worry about it. Stu.
  19. If you are carrying it for self defense then that would be a definite yes. Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2
  20. Looks more like 7.62 x 54R to me. Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2
  21. It would have been any of a number; Beretta 92, Sig P226, multiple Glocks, CZ, you name it. Are you thinking unsupported chamber? Sent from my SCH-I800 using Tapatalk 2
  22. Further to this - I did over 500 rounds of 45 ACP and 9mm today. The scale worked perfectly checking the throw of powder. To test it out I measured one throw and then 4 throws combined. 1 throw was 5.5gn, 4 throws showed 21.5gn. I'm happy with that.
  23. It looks like it would give you a mucghbetter advantage if you had to move around in a confined space. I have looked a vid of how it assembles and I think it will make cleaning your 870 take at least 3 times as long. To me that would be a big turn off.
  24. NJ do their own verson of NICS. They claim to do extra checks against NJ data which is not available in the FBI system. They also use the FBI system for the NJ check. Mostly it is yet another way to extract money from the NJ subjects who want to buy a gun. The delay is because the State Police are not efficient enough to cope with a peak in applications and the AG doesn't give a care to how long it all takes.
  25. I had a bit of a reloading marathon this afternoon. I filled all my .45 ACP boxes so started filling a tub with 9mm for a friend. I don't have a 9mm gun so I don't reload them too often. I mostly do .40 S&W and .45 ACP. This afternoon I loaded about 350 of the 9mm and had 7 or 8 cases stick in the decapping/resizing die. I know that's not a huge number by itself but compared to 0 stuck for the several thousand .40 and .45 I have done it seems kind of high. I know the 9mm is slightly tapered whereas the .40 and .45 are straight sided. Is that likely to be the issue or should I look into this further. I've never heard of needing to lube 9mm. For info I am using a Lee Classic turret with the Lee deluxe die set (separate seating and crimping dies). It is mixed brass which has all been dry tumbled in walnut kernels. The stuck cases were a variety of headstamps. What do you think? Stu.
