  1. no, i was just wondering. is there a written rule that says that somewhere?
  2. I think, as long as the rifle is unloaded, and you have your fid, you could just sling the rifle on your back, or over your shoulder and be on your way.
  3. I am not sure the above statement by halbauto is correct, although I wish it was. The law reads "" is the holder of and possesses a valid firearms purchaser identification card, a valid copy of a permit to purchase a handgun, or a valid permit to carry a handgun and first exhibits such card or permit to the seller, donor, transferor or assignor."" Since this great state of NJ does not recognize carry permits from any other state, I think that that Utah carry license is not "valid" in NJ.
  4. It doesn't read "valid permit", it reads "valid copy". I interpret that as my pink.
  5. Actually, a copy of the P2P is just fine. ftp://www.njleg.state.nj.us/20062007/PL07/318_.PDF CHAPTER 318 AN ACT concerning firearms and supplementing chapter 58 of Title 2C of the New Jersey Statutes. BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey: C.2C:58-3.3 “Handgun ammunition” defined; sale, purchase, etc., regulated; violation, fourth degree crime. 1. a. As used in this act, “handgun ammunition” means ammunition specifically designed to be used only in a handgun. “Handgun ammunition” shall not include blank ammunition, air gun pellets, flare gun ammunition, nail gun ammunition, paint ball ammunition, or any non-fixed ammunition. b. No person shall sell, give, transfer, assign or otherwise dispose of, or receive, purchase, or otherwise acquire handgun ammunition unless the purchaser, assignee, donee, receiver or holder is licensed as a manufacturer, wholesaler, or dealer under this chapter or is the holder of and possesses a valid firearms purchaser identification card, a valid copy of a permit to purchase a handgun, or a valid permit to carry a handgun and first exhibits such card or permit to the seller, donor, transferor or assignor. c. No person shall sell, give, transfer, assign or otherwise dispose of handgun ammunition to a person who is under 21 years of age. d. The provisions of this section shall not apply to a collector of firearms or ammunition as curios or relics who purchases, receives, acquires, possesses, or transfers handgun ammunition which is recognized as being historical in nature or of historical significance. e. A person who violates this section shall be guilty of a crime of the fourth degree, except that nothing contained herein shall be construed to prohibit the sale, transfer, assignment or disposition of handgun ammunition to or the purchase, receipt or acceptance of ammunition by a law enforcement agency or law enforcement official for law enforcement purposes. f. Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit the transfer of ammunition for use in a lawfully transferred firearm in accordance with the provisions of section 1 of P.L.1992, c.74 (C.2C:58-3.1), section 1 of P.L.1997, c.375 (C.2C:58-3.2) or section 14 of P.L.1979, c.179 (C.2C:58-6.1). g. Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit the sale of a de minimis amount of handgun ammunition at a firearms range operated by a licensed dealer; a law enforcement agency; a legally recognized military organization; or a rifle or pistol club which has filed a copy of its charter with the superintendent for immediate use at that range. 2. This act shall take effect on the first day of the third month following enactment. Approved January 13, 2008.
  6. You do not need to ever own an FID card to purchase a handgun in NJ.You just need a valid P2P. State of NJ doesn't even require any ID if the seller knows the buyer, although Uncle Sam requires a Drivers license for the 4473 that dealers need to keep on file. What risks are you referring to?
  7. I thought it would be relevant to this particular topic regarding the handling a handgun in gunstore without a FID
  8. yes, the future purchase of ammo would prove difficult without the fid. but the fact remains, you can purchase the handgun and ammo without the fid.
  9. A FID card is not needed to buy a handgun in NJ, so therefore a FID card is not needed to handle a handgun in a NJ gunstore.
  10. marbles, your own words: - treated for depression - no longer a patient there -dad is liberal and democrat -do not want to pay attorney -hoped police would cut you some slack for your honesty -primary doctor has prescribed you medication, but you have decided you dont need to take it at this point -you now need a dr to write you some sort of letter as much as i am pro2a i cant say i disagree with the decision to err on the side of caution and deny you at this point, for your own safety, and the safety of others. if you disagree with that decision, it is your right to appeal, there is a process in place, you can present your case with whatever evidence you can to further your cause.a judge can then make the final decision with the evidence you present based on the facts. appeals are very time sensitive and filings must be done by certain deadlines. not sure if your time has expired or not.
