  1. Ah, you'll be fine. None of us are "pros", when you get down to it. Hope to get a chance to introduce myself. See ya there.
  2. Sure. I can PM you if there are updates. Dont forget to register here: http://goo.gl/forms/M7Sqg6OdC3 If you register, you will go on the list, in the event that the match fills up. Also, Bill will be able to email you with updates.
  3. I will be at this match. Bill is discussing moving the date to May 14th, so it doesnt conflict with the Allegheny Sniper Challenge.
  4. Some of the material, i believe, is covered in both courses i.e. rifle fitment, etc. I dont want to make incorrect statements, which is why i suggested talking to Freddy first.
  5. Freddy posts on the forum as "bhtc". If you plan on taking both courses, you might want to talk to him about course info overlap. Also, you can reach him at [email protected].
  6. I would recommend Black Hat for precision rifle. The lead instructor, Freddy Wissing is a good guy and knows the precision game. He's also a good shot and active competitor. Im of the belief that you have to shoot at a certain level to teach at a certain level. While you hear stuff like "you dont have to be a great shot to teach"...In my opinion, you also can't teach stuff well that you havent mastered either.
  7. They arent cheap, but comparable to La Rue, et al. Thung is, the Larue isnt quite as consistent as the Bobro. The Bobro is 100% on the money. When im mountung it back on whichever upper, i simply put it on, put foward pressure in the mount and lock it down. Then, i give the butt of the rifle a gentle tap on the ground. I get a perfect zero everytime.
  8. Speaking of qd mounts, i run a Bobro QD and feel its the best QD mount for hilding a zero. I went with it after reading testing reviews online (i know, i know...). Thing is, i took a chance and tried one. In a word, fvckin awesome. Ok, two words... The Bobro has a spring loaded locking mechanism which, im guessing, is the magic ingredient. I can swap my scope between different uppers and make the same, consistent scope click adjustment and get a good zero.
  9. New Holland, Bridgeville (DE) and Cumberland are usually the closest. The only problem with Cumberland F class events are they do not allow rifles with brakes/comps due to NRA rules.
  10. Man, no good deed goes unpunished, around here. Apparently, the Midway deal makes more sense for someone that only feels like picking up an extra 1-2 thousand primers. In my case, PV is perpetually out of what I need, so I will pick up a little bit here and there until PV is back in stock. At the end of the day, this is still cheaper unless you are stocking up for the next revolution.
  11. From what I read, they are comparable in hardness. Not nearly as hard as Berdan primers, for example. Federal's might be a lil more "hotter" than CCI's, but hotter isnt always "better".
  12. I did the math using 1000 CCI #500 small pistol primers as an example: Powder Valley- $26.50+ $28.50 Hazmat+ $12 shipping (aprox)= $67.00 MidwayUsa- $32.29+ $0 Hazmat+ $12 shipping (aprox)= $ $44.29 If 2 ppl go in on the order, then: PV= $14.25 Hazmat+ $6 shipping= $20.25 add'l per MU= $0 Hazmat+ $6 shipping each= $6 add'l per If 3 ppl go in, then: PV= $9.50 Hazmat+ $4 shipping= $13.50 add'l per MU= $0 Hazmat+ $4 shipping= $4 add'l per
  13. Unfortunately, my coupon is only good for *CCI* primers. As mentioned, the minimum is $150 (I can cover that myself). There is no maximum. The prices are listed on the Midwayusa.com website. We would share the shipping costs equally and there are no Hazmat fees or sales tax.
  14. Sounds good, guys. For anyone else interested, maybe we'll make the deadline date of Monday, Feb 15, noon. Please post to this thread, if you are interested and we can place the order Monday afternoon. Thanks, Eric
  15. Iggy, The Oaks Gun show in PA is this weekend. I need supplies too and am going on Friday afternoon.
  16. I have a coupon that expires Feb 29. Free Hazmat on CCI Primers with a minimum order of $150 total. Anyone interested on a group buy? I could cover the $150 myself, so we are good to go on the minimum. Eric

    New SPR build

Looks great. Im a fan of the Sampson Evolution rail too. I like that it uses the stock barrel nut so i can replace it when i re-barrel and not have to worry about getting proprietary nuts. Food for thought, if you go with a QD scope mount, you can then mount your flip up sights on the top rail. Mounting the flip ups there gives you a longer sight base and you dont have to deal with rifle cant issues.
  20. Custom 700, Defiance Deviant short action, Bartlein 5R, M40 profile, 8 twist, McRee folding chassis, Vortex Razor 5-20 glass, Timney flat shoe trigger. http://imgur.com/a/oMyEW (someone tell me how to make the Imgur pic appear within my post, please)
  21. I hope you do, Chris. If anything, it's nice to see some precision rifle guys posting. I'm curious to see what loads work in your rifle. For my 6.5 Creedmoor, I'm loading 42.3 gr of H4350, and pushing 140 gr Berger VLD's around 2740 fps. Even though it'll be an apples to potato chips comparison, I'm curious to see what you end up with.
  22. Looks great and probably will shoot great. With your build, i wouldnt doubt it to be a sub .5 moa gun. I would love to see a range report after you do some load developement.

    Slings

Just more food for thought... Im not a fan of having your sling mounts so close by the edges of the receivers. If your main requirement is that the rifle sling needs to hold the rifle as snug to yiur body as possible, then this works. If you use your sling to shoot with i.e. provide support from different shooting positions, hasty sling, wrap around a post, etc, then you need to have the front mount further down the handguard. *edit- Vickers VCAS 2 point sling is what I prefer too
