  1. I'm only 5'9" but I have big hands. I could palm a basketball when I was 16. The Magpul grip is a little thicker and feels more comfortable to me.
  2. I wasn't planning on shooting it in competition but I do shoot Standard Pistol Bullseye matches so, maybe I'll give rifle a try as well. I'll have to look into it a little. The carry handle is detachable so I can mount a scope on it if I wanted but, I was specifically looking for a classic style rifle so I'll likely leave it just the way it is. The only change I plan to make is toi add a Magpul grip. (the stock grip is too small for my hands.) I'll be sure to post a range report as soon as i get a chance to shoot it. (may be a while though.)
  3. $675 with case and 100 rounds.
  4. Well I finally did it. Everyone should have at least one AR and after putting it off for ever I finally picked one up. I found a Bushmaster for sale locally and it seemed like a good deal so I jumped on it. I do have a S&W M&P 15-22, but I don't really count that as an AR since it's .22lr. Anyway here she is:
  5. The issue with getting it serviced is finding someone to come to your house and work on it. A portable generator can simply be taken to your local lawn mower or small engine repair shop. You can also loan it out, borrow one, or rent one and simply plug it in if you have everything in place. If your NG stand by fails there's no quick fix. Just my personal opinion. The only time I recommend the automatic stand by units is for people who leave the state for the winter. You can also get a natural gas conversion for a portable generator and fuel it from the house with a quick disconnect just like a grill. Still gives the above mentioned options and portability in a pinch. It's also much cheaper.
  6. I've installed a lot of generators over the last ten years or so. I don't recommend the automatic NG standby generators. Besides the cost, it can sometimes be impossible to get someone to come out and service them. Also, what happens if the gas line is disrupted? You're basically stuck with a boat anchor then. A decent portable generator can power most standard homes without issue as long as you don't use an electric range. A Weather Proof 30 or 50 Amp inlet along with a manual transfer switch is all you need.
  7. I recently had to get a hearing test for work. My wife is always conplaining that I'm deaf. Turns out she's right. As the doctor was explaining the results of my test she paused, looked up at me, and said: "Can you hear what I'm saying to you right now?" I'm not that deaf, but apparently my test results were really bad. As far as hearing the range officer goes, buy a set of electronic ears and turn them up. It's like having a hearing aid with noise protection.
  8. You don't have to spend that much. Just look around a little. Like I said in my previous post, a quick search on Amazon gave me a pair with a NRR of 30 for $66. I'm sure there are more out there too. This is the pair I saw: Howard Leight by Honeywell R-01902 Impact Pro Electronic Shooting Earmuffs
  9. What do you consider high end? I just did a quick search on Amazon and the third pair on the list had an NRR of 30 for $66.
  10. Woodbridge is very good about processing applications. You won't have any trouble getting them extended, if needed, either.
  11. Something like this would be pretty cool.
  12. Thanks! I actually bought it as a project a little while back. It was pretty neglected by the previous owner. I refinished the wood, touched up the barrels, and made a few necessary repairs. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
  13. I don't know, They have no name on them. I found them on EBay.
  14. You have to renew it before it expires. I would go to the PD and explain that you'll be away and see if they'll extend it early for you. Or just buy another pistol before you leave.
  15. I don't know what the Cherry Hill store got in but, Dick's in Woodbridge was piled high with Remington Golden Bullets last week. 525 rounds for $29. I've had good luck with them in the past. Picked up 2 boxes.
  16. Yep. I have a whole ammo can full of the stuff.B)
  17. Your never gonna get noncorrosive for the same price as surplus.
  18. Are you near Lumberton? (Cherry Hill area). This was just listed today: http://www.armslist.com/posts/4289697/nj-ammo-for-sale--7-62x54r-mosin-nagant-ammunition
  19. Hey guys, I picked up a nice pair of G10 grips. The question is- which gun do they look better on??
  20. Not to jack the OPs thread but, I went into Bullseye twice with permit and cash in hand and ended up walking out without buying anything. After going once more with a friend to buy a comp for his AR I swore I would never go back again. Horrible customer service. I really wanted to like the place too since it's right down the road.

AFAIK it is not legal. Pistols can't have a hand guard.
  22. Welcome. I'm right down the road in Colonia. The closest gun shop is going to be Heritage on Rt. 27 in Rahway. Their prices tend to be little high but not too bad. They have some decent salesman there. Some are better then others. I personally don't like Bullseye Tactical in Woodbridge. Nearest range would probably be Lake Island in Carteret. It's a private club and has it's limitations but it's convenient and relatively cheap. It's basically a pistol range only(.22 rifles are allowed though). When I want to shoot rifles I head out to Easton Fish and Game.
