  1. If your concern is that you need them to compete in 3 gun at EFAG I would suggest, before you bury them on the road, that you go to a competition and and get to know the other competitors. Typically there is going to be a group of regulars that will show up for most matches. I'm sure you'll meet someone from PA who lives close to the range and would be willing to store your mags for you and bring them along to matches.
  2. Woodbridge is one of the largest municipalities in NJ and I consistently get mine back in less then 30 days. There is only one person that I'm aware of who processes permits. If she can handle the load and get them all out on time then these other towns have no excuse.
  3. Yeah, its a good one. I have three buyers interested but I don't think I'm gonna let it go. It's just too cool and classic looking. I'll just add to the collection. B)
  4. I have been debating selling mine even though I love the thing. I want to build something very similar to it and just can't justify having so many ARs. I could just customize the Bushmaster but, I haven't messed with it yet and I think it should stay stock.
  5. As already stated, the best way to get others involved is to drag them to the range. Find a friend who doesn't shoot, convince them to go to the range, show them a good time, rinse and repeat. It will spread like a disease. I just got a new job 8 months ago and have already signed 4 reference letters for co-workers applying for permits. Now my department spends our lunch hour with the door closed watching gun related videos on youtube.
  6. Where are you located. I have a friend who teaches the course in Carteret.
  7. AFAIK, all you need for Florida is to take an NRA Basic Pistol Course. It includes "live fire" and you get a nice little certificate. Then fingerprints, passport photo, etc, etc. I have the paperwork to apply somewhere, I just never got around to filling it out and sending it in.
  8. Unfortunately this is a common practice these days. It's really hard for the municipality (PD) to say "No". A company approaches them and offers to solicit donations on their behalf for a portion of the proceeds. The town doesn't have to do anything but agree and accept the money. Even if they only get 10% of the collections, it's free money for them. I personally don't ever pledge a donation over the phone. I seek out worth while groups and donate directly.
  9. Yep, good bunch of guys. "No NICS" is good for stripped lowers too. They carry Stag and Anderson but they ordered a DPMS lower for my buddy. I'm hoping to swing by and pick one up tomorrow after work.
  10. Gotcha. I would prefer the the P-01 because it has removable grips. I have big hands and replaceable grip panels affords me more options.
  11. It was a tongue in cheek comment. I know it can be a sensitive topic. :PIf a friend asked I would suggest a 5" .45 though for the reasons I already stated. One of my Kimbers has an external extractor which makes some people cringe. So, I'm not really a purist, it's just my preference. Ken, just curious, why the P-07 as opposed to the SP-01? Do you prefer the polymer frame?
  12. Just my opinion. I would also recommend a 5" barrel for a first 1911. Yes, the way it was designed. As I stated, they don't all have to be .45s. (I wouldn't mind one in .38 super), but for a first 1911 I would suggest traditional. I love all 1911s in various sizes and calibers but, I guess I'm a purist at heart. I never shot the 226 but also never heard much bad about them. The CZ-75 was designed for the 9mm cartridge (like the 1911 and .45) and shoots pretty good for me but, I don't use it too much as I'm not a huge fan of 9.
  13. They do carry them but, they may not consider that a "gun" as far as the promotion goes.
  14. I wonder if this applies to stripped lowers as well?
  15. I've been to GSA numerous times. They usually have a good supply of powder and primers. Not the lowest price but in stock and no haz-mat fees. I also bought my CZ-75 from them. Nice group of guys. They're relatively new to the game and looking to build a customer base. Their gun selection is not huge but you can order anything listed on their website and they'll have it for you in a few days. Definitely worth the trip to check them out.
  16. That's just more incentive for one to start rolling their own. Seriously though, for a 9mm I'd go for something besides a 1911. I won't say all 1911 should be .45 but, your first one should be at least. For 9mm I like a CZ 75/85. The Sig 226 is nice too. It's on my short list.
  17. Have you tried a 226? You can get a 226 classic in .22 and then pick up a .9mm conversion later. (For some reason, that's cheaper then buying a .9mm 226 with a .22 conversion. Same exact gun though. A 9mm 1911. Really? I know a lot of people like them but , it just doesn't seem right to me. Plus I like shooting .45 more.
  18. I would suggest a full size gun as well. My first gun was a Glock 23. I shot the heck out if it until I bought a 1911. Then I got another 1911, a CZ75, another 1911,... Needless to say, I don't shoot the Glock at all anymore. I have much better options for a day at the range. If your looking for a .9mm then my vote would be for the CZ. For .45 I would obviously go with a 1911. There are lots of other options out there of course, those are just two of my favorites.
  19. I figured it was one or the other.
  20. You either have good eyes or a big monitor. Nice catch.
  21. Buffer tube came with the stock, nics is included in the price of the lower, brake is done. No need to pay anyone.
  22. Just finished. Needs some sights
  23. So, here's the build list: Stag lower with engraving. $160 Lower Parts Kit. $33 Magpul grip. $25 Anderson Upper. $65 Anderson M4 barrel. $90 Anderson BCG. $95 Troy low profile gas block. $33 Spikes Tactical Black Melonite gas tube. $14 BCM Gunfighter charging handle. $38 Ace Entry skeleton stock. $104 Recoil Pad. $12 Buffer. $10 buffer Spring 5 Midwest Industries SS series handguard. $150 RRA National Match trigger. $69 Troy Medieval Brake. $40 Hand guard cap. $8 Skeleton Trigger Guard. $15 Upper parts kit. $18 Just shy of $1000. Like I said before, more than I was thought I would spend but, not too bad for what I ended up with. Now I just need some sights. I may just throw on a scope I have laying around for now so I can shoot it while I figure out what kind of sights I want to go with. I was also debating a red dot with a flip to the side magnifier but, it sort of goes against my desire for a clean uncluttered rifle. In the end it will probably just be a set of high quality pop up sights.
