  1. The heat gun i have hits 1350 degrees. Im thinking impact driver as well. Anyone also agree? I believe itll work. Been pushing on the allen key like hell and it wont go and not even a scratch on the hex so id think its good?
  2. I also contemplated using my 18v ridgid impact driver to try and remove it but im afraid to strip the thread or something nuts.
  3. I know this is common, but i cant for the life of me get this thing off. Can i *safely* use an electric heat gun (no flame) to try and loosen the bolt? What temp is good, it has hi/lo settings that go way up there. Any other suggestions? Its a used rifle i picked up from heritage. Thing must have never been disassembled. Thanks in advance.
  4. For those suggesting RIA, any specific model or just look at their whole line in general?
  5. I have a few std 15rd hexmags. They feel cheapy to me, compared to the 10rd pmags i have, but thats probably because of them being half empty when 'full', versus the pmags being compact and therefore much more rigid. I'd imagine the 30rd pmags feel the same. As far as functionality, no problems as of yet. Heard of some issues with them here and there on older mags but word is they are quick to fix things when they go bad. A brand that backs their product has my backing
  6. Any one specific model? They have quite a bit out there.
  7. Will look into all of those. Thanks for the info guys. Anyone know of an *affordable* 9mm 1911? Id like to check one of those out too. I know i saw some compact kimber 1911s but id imagine those are out of my price range.
  8. Wow, thank god its only a month or so here in Woodbridge. Was about 4 weeks for initial FID & 1 P2P.
  9. Cool stuff, thanks for the link. Would be awesome to have in a survival complex of sorts. 2500 gallons of drinking water can last quite some time, and something like this wouldn't take space like a few hundred cases of water would, haha.
  10. Yeah.. Got new glass for both AR's and haven't sighted in either... so if SHTF i'm going for the 1911 i guess... haha
  11. I think the rental contract is a 'better safe than sorry, to be 100% certain you are in Compliance with NJ's BS Law's'. I'm going to write one up and have my mother sign it so that i can keep firearms with me when i am visiting there, to be honest. If i am carrying in the backyard and the PoPo Shows up because my liberal nosy ass neighbors peek over the fence, i'd rather have the piece of paper showing that i am in fact a resident there even though my primary residence is in Woodbridge.
  12. You should be able to have the in laws write up a rental contract (or google one online) and then that address becomes your home? Correct me if i'm wrong. I Don't think its necessary to pay an FFL to store them. ^^he beat me to it. You can get a heavy duty plastic tool box on wheels (Husky 38" I think) like what i have in my truck for like 60$ and throw a lock on that. Put it in the in laws garage or wherever and you'll be good to go.
  13. 4 weeks here in Woodbridge NJ for Initial FID and my first p2p. Knock on wood hopefully no delays this time either haha. Yeah that was my thought too. Why drop 1000+ on more NJ compliant rifles that will be practically worthless anywhere else? If things change ill rethink that but for now im fairly set on staying away from additional rifles.. rather stock up on ammo for this upcoming shortage :|
  14. Heritage has cci 22lr HPs for 8.49/100 plus tax and they have a rewards thing. I think every 300 or 400$ you get 10$ off. I usually just go there and buy 22 500rds at a time. They never seem to have std round nose though, ive only ever found HP.
  15. I use ammoseek but once i found good vendors i stuck with em. Sgammo is great. Small company so you deal with real people. Freedommunitions i just bought from. Ammo should be here today so dont take my word yet but i bought both new and reman when they had their sale. 10% off fmj and 15% off specialty stuff, plus a free shipping coupon so it only cost me like 25.2 per 223 with shipping for reman, i believe. Not bad for plinking ammo. Got some new 9mm and 45 as well.
  16. Id like to pick up a revolver at some point and was contemplating one as a carry gun (later on when i leave PRNJ) but a range gun for now. TBH, though, i never shot one not have i ever even held one. As for what handguns ive shot, not too many i cant even remember which. Shot a 1911, the sig 2022 or whatever that was, a desert eagle i rented way back and a few others. Only one that feels right is the 1911 but like you guys said, a 45 isnt exactly the greatest carry gun, haha. Im going to go up to easton heritage to hold and then test fire some stuff, i think. If i find something i like ill just pay and wait a month for my p2p. Trying to pick up a handgun or 2 more before i move rather than rifles because in the real USA there are much nicer, cheaper toys available. Handguns will be the same. Hopefully i can get out before the new governor is elected, because thats probably when NJs interpretation of the 2A goes to shit (worse than now).
  17. It also doesnt HAVE to be single stack, that is just what im used to and all i have found fits my hand right. My buddy has a sig 2022 or something and its nice and all but i seem to have more control with my 45 1911 than his 9. Probably due entirely to my hand being wrapped around nicely on the 1911 versus holding on for dear life and getting more barrel rise/flip than id like.
  18. Im just shy of 5'5". They arent ridiculously small, but i am a size small in adult gloves for the most part. I dont really care about barrel length too much. My primary concern was the height of the grip, if that makes sense. On a 1911 i can get my hands around it perfectly and therefore i have no problem controlling it, and its a 45. The reason i said full size is that some of the compact glocks leave my pinky hanging off the bottom or resting on the magazine, which to me is a huge no no. Im a small dude and if my entire hand isnt on the grip, it basically creates a pivot point in my hand, which is no bueno. I love my 1911 but id like something different. In the long run im certain ill pick up another, but right now id like something more modern as a range toy and something i can carry out of state/if(when) i leave the state.
  19. As the title states, i have fairly small hands. As a result, just about anything ive held doesnt fit right in my hand. I already have a Ruger SR1911 which is fantastic but id like to pick something up in 9mm. Not sure what they make in 9mm that is single stack or very slim grip without being ridiculously compact? Itll be hard to beat the fit of the 1911 for me. Any suggestions for what to look at when i visit the LGS? Id like it to be a full size or near full size handgun, not too interested in the really small glocks (i forget which one it was i held). A glock 19 or something like that would be nice but from what ive seen the grip is much wider. Have yet to hold/shoot one, though.
  20. Federal laws? What federal laws? Lmao. Nj laws are so restrictive that its hard to break a federal law while being compliant with nj/local laws.
  21. Yeah, unfortunately. Im going to apply for 2 P2Ps and pick up 2 handguns that way if they change anything maybe ill be exempt. If things get worse here ill probably leave and just drive longer.. :/
  22. Hahaha, if he couldn't get a permit with shit like that i shouldn't even bother... You should talk to him about going national. I'll gladly join in on the suit if we had enough people to help fund it. Granted i haven't had anything THAT serious, but i've had people push through me and walk right into the property while operating with saws and stuff doing some flooring work because they were drunk and high as hell, had to escort the guy out with 4 big ass dudes... fortunately he was unarmed so we just man handled him... Stuff like that is normal. Wife was damn near attacked there, as well.. Called the police for that one, don't think they ever showed up, had to lock her inside the building. Unfortunately, Not much to be done in NJ... I'll have to take the judges suggestion and GTFO of this shitty state..
  23. I can also assure you that the sherriffs dept in bumblef**k nowhere arizona or whatever wont kick down this guys door over an accusation that he never shipped me a freakin gun. Nor will my local pd even bother forwarding the information to that dept.
  24. I sell online for a living. Its fairly easy to get protection as a buyer. The sellers are the ones who get the shaft. Ive had people open claims for vacuums that failed after 6 months and paypal allowed them to return the item, admittedly used multiple times prior to failing, for a full refund. Mind you their policy is that the item must be returned in the same condition in which it was received (new and working).. Its he said she said, and the buyer is always right.
  25. ^Agreed, they should (with reasonable exceptions like walking upon a bank robbery) be limited to only having power when in uniform. That being said, i SHOULD just open a security company, then, and hire myself as 'armed security'.... Wouldn't that be sort of a big loophole?
