It wouldn't necessarily hurt having the original court order and as you mentioned, it's only good for 2 years. However, I do find it interesting that the person handing out the permit is giving information that is counter to what the actual court order states. For me (just my opinion), I'm going to carry a copy of the court order as I can show explicitly from the order that a copy is sufficient. With my luck, if I carried the original order, it would find it's way into the washer / dryer which is too painful to even imagine. lol

Appreciate the reply and good point on handing over one's phone. It's convenient to have the docs stored electronically but you're in a predicament if you actually need it to record the conversation or need to call. The permit itself isn't the most convenient size to have in your wallet so not a bad idea to have a separate bill-fold to carry the permit and the court order.

Abbreviated timeline: 8/1 - Submitted paperwork to local PD. 8/29 - PD indicated no issues from references and application will be submitted to prosecutors. 9/27 - Received letter from Monmouth County prosecutor that 'applicant appears to be in compliance with all requirements...' and application sent to Judge. 10/17 - Court order approving application.

No, there are no stipulations regarding carrying in a vehicle. Only the 'sensitive area' restriction.

Just received a copy of the court order granting my permit (Monmouth County, expiration Oct 2024) stating to pick up at my local PD. The court order specifically identifies the 2 handguns I qualified along with the 'typical sensitive areas', e.g. schools, gov buildings, polling places, etc, where it's not allowed. Interestingly, the court order states I have to carry a copy of the court order along with the permit. I presume having a pdf copy or pics of the court order on your phone should suffice (assuming you have your phone while carrying)? Have others had this stipulation on their court order?

That's unexpected positive news on the restrictions .... now, just wish I heard something from Monmouth County on my PTC packet.

I'm in Monmouth County and in a similar situation. The PD submitted my packet to the Court on 8/29 and my money order cashed this week but haven't heard anything.

I'd like to know as well; only info I've heard is just rumor that the judge for Monmouth County wasn't approving any permits due to no clear guidelines on weapons qualification (again, just rumor). I turned in my packet on 8/8 and all references contacted as of 8/25. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I used relatives for all three references (wife and 2 brother-in-laws); the Boro PD sergeant contacted all three and didn't seem to have any issues with them as references. I also list relatives as references for the pistol permits so I presume there should be no issue for PTC.

I'm in Monmouth County; dropped off my packet at my Boro PD on 8/8. Hoping the info on the judge is just a rumor; otherwise, it may be a long wait for us.
