Lublin 3 Posted August 10, 2009 Hypothetical situation: I'm trading a pistol I own for a pistol someone else owns in state. We both own the guns legally and hold FID cards. Do we both need to file for new pistol permits or just transfer ownership with a COE? Besides both of us having to ship to an FFL, does this change when trading pistols with a person out of state? Malsua 1,422 Posted August 10, 2009 It's two transactions. Two Pistol permits. Out of state it's FFL only.
Greydaddy 2 Posted August 10, 2009 Probably need a permit. Form of registration, and they're different serial #'s.
tbtrout 141 Posted August 10, 2009 new permits anytime a pistol is transferred to another NJ resident.
