Fishpaw 17 Posted November 26, 2009 Recently picked up a 1945 Mauser K98. Its a bring back with no import marks. It is however missing the front hand guard and barrel bands. What would be the correct barrel bands for this rifle. Ill post pics soon...Also, where is a good place to get these parts?
usnmars 136 Posted November 26, 2009 I believe this is what you are looking for. It is a late war rifle so it shouldn't be the machined variety, so IIRC this is what you are looking at. It would help if you give the receiver code so i can try to match up the waffens(dirty bird) to make it correct. I may be wrong, but hopefully someone who knows better than me will chime in. http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=148114178
BMWR12 35 Posted November 26, 2009 Sarco or Numrich probably has all of the parts, you will need to ask for that type though. You need the screw for the band and it should be of the Kreigs type or welded construction and stamped for the rear. As for the hand guard you will want to try to get one of the same WAA since it should match the color of your stock. If you live close to Sarco I would try there just call ahead they will help you out.

Fishpaw 17 Posted November 27, 2009 be carefull buying on line - many different variations + styles - Ive been looking around and thats why Im asking....All the numbers are matching on this rifle, and Id like to get it back to 100% condition with the correct parts. Its a BYF45 with all the stamps intact, including the one on the stock. Im not that far from SARCO...maybe Ill bring it there and see if they have the correct parts....
