2 Q's regarding Pistol Ammunition

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, have a couple questions that I did not find answers to with a few quick searches.

1) EDIT: Found my answer.

2) Can I sell ammo to a friend who does not have a FPID? Does a friend need to have an FPID card to buy a box of store-bought remington FMJ ammo from me in cash? I did not see anything pertaining the ammo transfer of this nature in the links to the NJ firearms laws.

Thanks for the assistance. I do not want to break any laws!

Here's a pic of the new one

Nice gun.

I would shoot a few rounds of the JHP to make sure it cycles properly, and then keep it for your defensive rounds,

You can EASILY find .45acp online (FMJ) much cheaper then dicks now.

So order away and save $$$$.

I would not sell then ammo to your friend.

He does need an FPID in NJ to buy ammo and there is no way I would sell or give it to him knowing he does not have one.

He needs a FPID, a Pistol Puchase Permit, or a NJ Permit to Carry, and from what your question entails, yes, it would be illegal to sell him your ammo in the state of NJ.

ammoengine.com

ammo to go

sportsmans guide

aim surplus

jg sales

centerfire systems

midway usa (have to fax a copy of FID)

cabelas (for rifle)

classic arms

grafs

among others...

Wrong.

NJ does require an FID for handgun ammunition but NJ statute defines handgun ammunition as "ammunition specifically designed to be used only in a handgun."

If any long gun exists in a specific caliber you don't need an FID to purchase it. All the common handgun rounds (.38, 9mm, .40, .45, .357, .44, etc.) have long guns that are chambered for them.

Try telling that to any retail store in NJ that sells ammo ;)
