NJ609 22 Posted February 16, 2010 Always verify drivers license and NJ Firearms Purchaser ID card. If it is a long gun you have to fill out the Eligibility Certificate. If it's a handgun then there needs to be a currently valid pistol permit which has to be sent to your local PD. This is from the NJ State Police site: Q3. How do you buy rifles and/or shotguns, including bb, pellet, and black powder rifles? A3. It is the responsibility of the seller of the firearm to ascertain that the buyer has a Firearms Purchaser Identification Card plus one additional form of identification and a completed Certificate of Eligibility. A Certificate of Eligibility can be obtained at any licensed firearms dealer. Q4. How do you buy handguns, including bb, pellet, and black powder handguns. A4. coldsolderjoint 84 Posted February 16, 2010 That's pretty much it. You can also fill out a bill of sale if you want to be extra careful, but it's not required by the law. I have a PDF copy of a firearms bill of sale you can have if you want it. Just send me a PM with your Email in it.
