Another Inheritence Question

Recommended Posts

Guy at my work was asking me today and I didn't know the exact answer.

His wife's Grandfather passed away then her Grandmother passed away. There was no specific will stating this gun goes to this person etc. There was two siblings, my co-workers wife's mother and her brother. Now right now the wife's mother has the guns but if she wanted to sell those guns does she have to have a FID card?

I'm pretty sure if it was stated in the will specifically she wouldn't need the card, but since it wasn't I'm a little confused on how that would play out.

It's my understanding that if there's no name in the will, the executor can assign a person to accept them on behalf of the estate and it's the same as if they were named.

HOWEVER I can't seem to find anything to back that up in the laws....

Perhaps getting the executor to write up that she specifically is being granted the firearms would be enough.

Now, you actually have two questions. Second one being "do you need an FPID to sell firearms?" I have no idea. :)
