PDM 91 Posted May 24, 2011 Check out the following op-ed in the LA Times by Law Professor Adam Winkler. He asserts that seeking to ban open carry in California is a bad idea because a complete ban on all carry in public likely won't pass muster and the end result will be that some form of concealed carry will eventually need to be allowed. He gets his panties in a bunch about the increased threat to the public that will result from concealed carry, but that's really no surprise. What is heartening is that a law professor who seems to be a died-in-the-wool gun control advocate gives an honest reading of Heller/McDonald and concludes that carry in public falls under the 2A protection. http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-winkler-guns-20110524,0,1560358.story
hmmjak 2 Posted May 24, 2011 Absent an open carry policy, however, future courts could have a much harder time upholding concealed carry restrictions. So..... NJ?
PDM 91 Posted May 24, 2011 So..... NJ? So, we all hope the District Court Judge hearing the SAF lawsuit in NJ agrees with him.
