TonyS. 12 Posted January 10, 2015 The only time a gun salesman bad-mouthed a brand I inquired about was at HG. I won't say the brand or the HG location but I assure you it's not bottom-shelf or an upper custom tier brand either. It was the first and only time I ever heard such a strong negative about the brand. I then asked and was told HG doesn't carry the brand. "For every 2 or 3 we sold we'd get 1 or 2 back." Then, I was strongly advised a few times to go with Kimber. Now no offense to Kimber owners but I flat out told him I'm staying away from Kimbers. He just about tried to embarrass me for this. Good salesmanship? I don't think so. I think he criticized the brand I originally asked about because he simply didn't sell them. Then, to keep mentioning Kimbers after I said I wasn't interested? I thought that type of BS was just for car salesmen. I'm not a kid nor a fool, but to me this was foolish behavior on his part. I left the store and bought elsewhere. I had to go quite a distance but at least I was able to compare the brand I was interested in with a few others of seemingly comparable quality and price. mipafox 438 Posted January 10, 2015 This is the only time I've had this problem. I've been there quite a bit as well and never seen this particular (non) salesman at the gun counter. Not only did he not even want to let me touch the gun, he did nothing but bad-mouth NJ and their laws...not that I disagree but if you're in the business of selling, you should really try NOT to insult your potential customers. Maybe I'll mention it to Steve over @ the Facebook page... This signature is AWESOME!!! I'm sure they'll be out of business by the end of the year. djg0770 481 Posted January 10, 2015 If their store was in PA and you're a NJ resident, he was correct in telling you he couldn't sell you the handgun because of ATF rules. They would have had to ship it to a NJ FFL who would then transfer it to you. Not true. Otherwise I could not buy ANY handgun outside of my state and I regularly do. You just have to have it TRANSFERRED to you at an NJ FFL. But the NJ FFL doesn't SELL the gun to you, the originating FFL/owner does...
