Light weight varmint rifle

I usually hunt ground hogs with my .17hmr. But I think a .223/5.56 may be what I start using due to knock down since I need to actually bring em back for a head count. I already have a mossberg mvp varmint set up very well. But the gun is heavy to be lugging around woods and fields. So I'm looking into a couple options

 

A lighter stock for my mvp.

Yea came to 5.5 lbs with irons and foregrip but it's got a standard bcg. I'm waiting on a lightweight one

You may like it but I'd never use a plastic lower.

I'd definitely go with a lightweight built AR. Plenty of options out there to make it to your specs.
