  1. Take a look at my first video on these firearms, I go into reasons why someone living in Free America would want one. Namely, you cannot add a VFG (vertical fore grip) to a "pistol"... but you can to an "other firearm" as that is how it was designed to be fired.
  2. So Prismatic type sights should work quite well for you. I did a video on a 6x Wolfhound before and really like it for the money. They also have a 3x. If you have any type of sight issues, Prismatic sights. If you want, come try mine, and would be glad to trade some too if you are not using yours.
  3. No. How do you think I have mine in PA? =) They are "other firearms" as classified by the ATF... NJSP okays that. They are just the same "Other Firearms" in other states. In free states, there are no issues with them, i.e. PA and are transferred and sold as such. Generally though, they are sold sans the vertical grip and are transferred as pistols. You do have other states, like NY, MA and I believe CA, where these guns do not fly as the state laws have their own interpretations and codes that prohibit certain features. Btw... they are still pistol braces... and why they are not SBRs in PA for the same reason as they are not SBR in NJ. =)
  4. Do you want a proper type dot or a pistol type sight? In that price range... Leupold Freedom Red Dot.

    IWI Masada 9mm

What specifically? The gun really looks interesting and I suppose like other IWI products should do well in terms of ergonomics. My main concern would be the aftermarket. There is yet one IWI handgun in particular that broke through to becoming "main stream." The closest are the baby desert eagles/Jerichos... and while they are good guns, and I love the ergos on my Baby Desert Eagle 45 steel, it's not really main stream and as a result the after market and replacement parts are fairly expensive. And well... quite frankly it is yet another plastic fantastic pistol to go against Glock... BUT now there are also a ton of Turkish firearms to compete with too. I think this is also why the price point reflects that... there is no way in hell they would be selling these in any decent volume priced at $500+. I say... buy it or try it. it's cheap enough. Will know more when I get a gun to try out.
  8. You generally get what you pay for. The short barrel firearms currently being sold in NJ are not cheap component guns... If you wanted to put together the same quality gun, you are going to spend north of $1k... basically what they sell for. The question is of course... do you need it? Or would you be okay with the cheap Palmetto State Freedom kits? 95% of gun owners here would be just fine with them anyway.
  9. I doubt that is for the "other firearm." Keep in mind, outside of NJ, there is real fear of pistol braces and pistol ar's being classified as SBRs. Speaking with a number of Class 3 SOTs, there is a fairly big uptick in people building SBRs and getting tax stamps to get ahead of new legislation. So the BCM 11.5 I think is geared towards the pistol/SBR market, rather than the 2,000 or so "other firearms" that were sold in NJ over the last few months.
  10. No other major manufacturer as far as I am aware of. For a smaller company, all they have to do is slap on a Vertical Fore Grip to a Pistol, OR swap the stock for a brace on their SBRs. Minimal investment and nimble enough companies can do it... especially if they don't care to send in their guns for NJSP approval. So far only DSI and Troy sent their guns in to NJSP and hence why had the explicit letter. Others are just manufacturing to the same specs as approved, hence in my book "good enough" and definitely better than making your own (from the exposure risk.) As far as three top manufacturers... ZERO plans to as of the last time I spoke with them. Here is the thing... the market in NJ is fairly small.... so For say Smith & Wesson, Ruger, etc... selling 2,000 rifles is not a great ROI. (and that is a high number). Realistically they can expect to sell 500 to 1,000 of such guns. The top guys are are high XXX, third guys are low XXX for these types of variants. The bigger opportunity is of course nationwide. So yes, if you are an LWRC, LaRue, Noveske or another niche or higher end manufacturer, if they can sell 1,000 guns at their high prices... it is well worth it to them. To a larger manufacturer too much risk, etc, especially if they go through distributors instead of going direct to dealers.
  11. Humn, may need to send a second email. lol to get the piston too. Tomorrow I have a full day with Dark Storm that is coming over with their guns. I think for 99% of the gun owners, any of these guns are going to be fine and if they get a total of 1,000 rounds through them, it will be A LOT. What I am interested in seeing is what kind of barrels they are using and accuracy we may get out of them... not that anyone really expects sub moa out of them anyway. Pretty much all use the same brakes, mil-spec triggers, etc. What is different is really the rail, barrels, pistol grips, vertical fore grip, muzzle device and sights (if any). Other differences are where the components come from, etc. In either case, any of the guns here, except the Radical Firearms, are going to be mid to top tier type guns. They are not $400 or $500 Palmettos. The Dark Storm V1 I have I am quite impressed with fit and finish wise and has most of the upgraded things including charging handles, matching lower/upper, ambi controls, really nice muzzle brake, etc.

    Zev OZ9c

This is what i was alluding to. Grips should be avail shortly and i should have my gun which will be avail for you guys to try out soon.
  13. Thanks to @Rufio.Weaponworks we should have one to play around with soon.
  14. DSI offers one and I shot the Troy 9mm. There is actually shooting footage of it in my video. It will be avail to try Next Wed at Garden State shooting Center and I will have the opportunity to play with the DSI 9mm on Wed. Will report. The Troy 9mm should be publicly available in a few weeks and IIRC a few dealers are already pre-ordering them. I think 9mm is hella fun in these guns in this size and I look forward to shooting all three.
  15. I LOVE the lite model... There is little reason to go for the heavy one. Btw... why do you need a threaded barrel in NJ? Do you own property outside of NJ to put on a suppressor? There is ZERO reason to put on a muzzle break on a 22lr.
  16. Far easier to take an extra .75" to the barrel. =P Then you don't need to pin either brake or brace.
  17. Not by state, by Region IIRC. @FreedomSportsLLC
  18. Spoke with the distributor, he put the order in so most definitely will have one or two with him. He will also have a 9mm version of the Troy A4 as well.
  19. What he said... Just get an extra inch... I hear an extra inch is better in all cases... (penis joke)... and get to keep both, the ability to swap muzzle device and adjust LOP.
  20. Oh that is is probably because they can use a ruler. =P Sorry could not resist. But in all seriousness, knowing the people behind the guns, it comes down to a few things... the guys at Troy and DSI put in the activity and have boots on the ground. They also make a damn good gun. The stores feel comfortable with it and the Troy rifle is a very low risk sale. 1. It has a Letter from NJSP, 2. It has a very reasonable price point, 3. It has the Troy name which is well known. Other things... good promos with mags, the gun comes with sights and is ready to go out of the box without having to spend on optics and most of all does not feel cheap. I REALLY like the rail on mine. Furthermore, for both Troy and DSI guns, there are companies out there who are doing guns full time who are going to stand behind the guns. The MM guns ARE GOOD as per the folks on here who own them but the facts are that they are a small company and are largely dependent on their parts suppliers for the components rather than manufacturers who always have the option of making whatever they need.
  21. For now, MM is a very small time company that is catering to LEO. Many of the typical gun stores in the states and quite a few vendors here do not carry MM rifles for a variety of reasons. I also know the whole barrel size screw up cost them time as well. Spoke with Joe last night and apparently they are still all backordered. The one thing to keep in mind is that the guys at MM are also involved in other projects and businesses and as of yesterday "I do not need any help selling rifles," though I was invited for a shop tour and some private training to run their guns through. What I dislike however is that there is a lot of bad mouthing going on behind the scenes and outright lies, many of which I have to call BS on and correct the companies and reps. Only one vendor has not said anything bad about their competitors. This really reminds me of what you find in the suppressor community... Completely different from the grown up companies where even if they think their competitors' products are inferior, they realize there is enough business to go around... and you can always crap on Hi-Point. LOL/JK... maybe?
  22. There is angun for everyone. This will appeal to folks who are price sensitive... I doubt to many will be found in the state though. Right now in NJ the market is dominated by Troy and Dark Storm. Third is MM and is quite a bit behind. (Yes i do have ideas on sales numbers). And all three are there because they have boots on the ground. Now you have more coming in and will be a blood bath for the other manufacturers competing online. And who knows the quality of the guns...
  23. Either just forget about it or make friends with ffl who can arrange visiting hours.
  24. About 10 months for individual and seems to be speeding up.
  25. One of the guns I recently got in for testing is the Taurux TX22. I was drawn to it by the decent to good reviews I saw and that it is a 16+1 capacity and had an option for a threaded barrel. Yes yes, sorry Jersey folks! Have about 200 or so rounds through the gun right now of various ammo, Winchester and Federal bulk packs, CCI mini mags and Remington Standard velocity. Really awesome and no problems hitting steel at 25 yards or so. The big thing for me however is that it is a "standard size" plastic fantastic pistol and has a really nice trigger. All of that for under $300! Not sure of the long term longevity but so far... am quite impressed. Let me know if you want to check it out and I figure the video will be out in a month or so.
