  1. Here is what I found for transfers... "N.J.A.C. 13:54-1.13 Firearms passing to heirs or legatees (a) Notwithstanding the provisions of this subchapter concerning the transfer, receipt or acquisition of a firearm, a permit to purchase a handgun or a firearms purchaser identification card shall not be required for the passing of a firearm upon the death of an owner thereof to their heir or legatee, whether the same be by testamentary bequest or by the laws of intestacy. A person so acquiring ownership may retain the firearm if he or she meets the requirements of N.J.A.C. 13:54- 1.5 and 1.6. (b) If an heir or legatee is not qualified to acquire a firearm, he or she may retain ownership of the firearm for the purpose of sale for a period of 180 days, which period may be extended by the chief of police or the Superintendent. During such period the firearm must be placed in the custody of the chief of police or Superintendent. © In the case of assault firearms or machine guns disposition shall be in accordance with N.J.A.C. 13:54-5. Furthermore... N.J.A.C. 13:54-1.3 Firearm identification card or permit to purchase required (a) No person, other than a licensed or registered retail or wholesale dealer, shall receive, purchase or otherwise acquire a rifle, shotgun or antique cannon, other than an antique rifle or shotgun, unless that person possesses and exhibits a valid firearms purchaser identification card. No person shall sell, give, transfer, assign or otherwise dispose of a rifle, shotgun or antique cannon, other than an antique rifle or shotgun, to a person other than a licensed or registered retail or wholesale dealer unless the buyer or receiver possesses and exhibits a valid firearms purchaser identification card. No person shall sell or acquire a sawed-off shotgun. (b) No person, other than a licensed or registered retail or wholesale dealer shall receive, purchase or otherwise acquire a handgun unless that person possesses and exhibits a permit to purchase a handgun. No person shall sell, give, transfer or assign or otherwise dispose of a handgun to a person other than a licensed or registered retail or wholesale dealer unless the buyer or receiver possesses and exhibits a valid permit to purchase. there is the answer. So even if someone passed away and it went to you, you dont need a permit, but you have to be able to possess one, ie 21 years old.
  2. I believe what he is saying is that you can be gifted that firearm, but you need to have a permit for it. why not just call them New Jersey State Police P.O. Box 7068 West Trenton, NJ 08628 609-882-2000
  3. But all of the african countries around want more military presence there... that is the thing. The only report I have seen was that companies do not want weapons on board as people are untrained in them. What can happen is an AK round penetrating and doing some damage.
  4. if the dies are the same... why then did one of the articles mention dies for 45 Gap? In the same place they did mention that acp would work.
  5. didnt know about the one in south jersey. But I am in the East windsor that "had" the dirt track. Centex moved in and didnt like the noise. Now only remnant of that track are left... and more new homes being built by it. when I first moved to East Windsor, I used to be able to hear the racing at the track, and I lived about 3 miles away from it. I can see how the people living right around it would get annoyed.
  6. welcome to the board sir. Thanks for the other forum info... did not even know a few of those existed.
  7. Thanks for that feedback, will pass it along when I am there tonight. Perhaps they should take a better more proactive approach with shooters, esp if new. As far as loading... it is not so much as loading a magazine on the back bench area, and holding the firearm in the lane... a few people love to load the mag in the bench area before even taking the firearm into the booths. At the same time, who says you dont have another firearm by the bench anyway? Typically, if I bring more than one firearm... I keep them in a 4 gun case on the back bench, and take only one at a time to the booth. if I load a mag on the back bench area, even for the firearm in the lane.... to someone 2 lanes over... they see a firearms case and a mag being loaded... that is the issue. Part of the reason you sometimes dont see a RSO there is that go there in the eve, and it is the same folks shooting or practicing for a weekend match.
  8. So here is my question... Most of the pirates come on small go fast boats... and they take over massive freighters... why dont these commercial ships arm themselves? A few shotguns, and ar-15's should be more than plenty to "deter" the threats. Worse case... hire security contractors, such as the trigger happy folks at blackwater.... or even send the crew to a defensive security course. Really, in open water, why not go full auto AK's, . Right now to the pirates... this is like trying to mug someone in Newark or Camden, where no law abiding citizen can protect themselves. http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/africa/04/14/somalia.pirates/index.html
  9. Welcome. SS is even more expensive to shoot at than BA? Wow. I used to pay $18 to shoot at BA before I became a member, didnt know SS was more. I do agree, the prices on firearms is cheaper there and at BA they will take what they can get. Post an intro post... tell us what you shoot. Goign to shoot at BA today if you want to join. And if you are infected by the bug... might as well get a membership. =)
  10. $35 a box for 45acp? Holy my. I was complaining about $24? at Brick Armory when I took my dad there. 45 Gap was $27 at Brick Armory.
  11. check it out. Was posted on their website... limited to rent in 40 S&W and 22lr. All ammo purchased for range use only. At BA they have always had ammo. http://www.shoreshotpistolrange.com/pdf/Ammo.pdf
  12. So really looking into picking up a XD in 45 gap from brother... and voila... http://www.gunsandammomag.com/cs/Satellite/IMO_GA/Story_C/The+.45+GAP http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BQY/is_5_51/ai_n13469649/ http://www.reloadammo.com/45-gap-loads.htm Interesting article I found. Didnt know they use small pistol primers vs the larger ones for acp.
  13. Doing DaVinci They take his experiments and drawings and try to recreate them to test the concepts. Today they built a tank.... with cannons.... On the show, they made it seem very easy to build a cannon.... anyone try?
  14. Walk on is $18.... stay as long as you like. tell them you are from NJGun forums... may set you up....
  15. So far... every time, except on saturday where I shot 9 rounds for the Safety class at citizens rifle club. the rimfire 22lr, after every time no matter how many rounds as it is high maintenance but a cheap date. =P centerfires... I usually clean every time only because I am cleaning the 22 anyway.
  16. Brick Armory is a class 3 ffl.... and I know for a fact that they can permanently block an xd mag. Question is if you stick a pin in there... that can be easily removed, or if welded/permanent block. Contact them. Cant hurt. they deal with the state police all the time.
  17. Saw it is avail here for $379..... just may have to bust out the amex card.... this in a 223 or a walther g22?

  19. Planning to be at Brick Armory tomorrow, sometime in the late afternoon, evening, depending on when I get out of the office. Just feel the need to squeeze out a few. Any interest?
  20. Just wondering if there is any interest in having a class setup, or if anyone wants to teach something like this.
  21. Isnt there something that I read where first match is free or something? Also, do you have to join IDPA to participate in the match?
  22. if you can get a higher cap mag, I am sure you can take it to a gunsmith to make it a 15. I know the guys down at Brick Armory order XDms with 19+1 and make them 15+1
