  1. either the H&K USP 45 or the Springfield TRP 1911.
  2. It's new, but like a lot of PSL's, needed a little cleanup. The scope was filthy! I'm still getting the gunk of the "i'm too stupid to use a scope" protector that comes with it. I was impressed with the kit of stuff, like a mag pouch, strap, oiler, scope covers (both the one that looks like a used condom and the canvas one used for transport), and two mags, which I must add actually hold the action open when empty. A BIG plus for an AK/RPK style rifle. Hague's got one in and I just couldn't resist it any longer. It helped that I found a deal online for $0.19 a round, which is about the cheapest thing going right now. I... uhh.... stocked up a little. I was surprised to find them coming in a metal tin, complete with a can opener!
  3. My new Romanian PSL 7.62x54R... fun to shoot, cheap ammo, and not nearly the recoil I'd expect from a round often compared to the 30-06.
  4. I just found that site. It really does have a ton of info. I found a couple places have cheaper plinking ammo online that's about the price of 9mm (before the craze) at about $0.19 a round.
  5. I'm only going to be taking it to the range anyway. I'm not a hunter or anything. I have to admit, part of the draw is that is just looks SO cool!
  6. I have the exact same one (or at least it sure looks the same) and it cost me $1250 new in January.
  7. correction, it's a Romanian PSL, Dragunov clone.
  8. I've done that match a few times. The guy who runs it (Ted Murphy) is really good. I won't be able to make it. I'm going to Virginia for work all week.
  9. I didn't think the stock sights were so bad. I was shooting about a 3/4" group at 15 yards (shooting pretty quickly) with it yesterday. The Truglo makes a big difference. With that, my group looked more like a ragged .45 hole.
  10. I was looking at a Dragunov yesterday. It seemed pretty cool (I'm not so sure about the scope... it looked neat, but kind of clunky at the same time). Does anyone own one and have any thoughts on it?
  11. Going back to the original question, I buy my .22 from these guys: http://www.22ammo.com/
  12. I have the Ruger MK III 22/45 and really love it. It's the kind of classic weapon that I think everyone should have. It's cheap to shoot and has a longer sight radius making you feel like a super marksman. It's a little annoying to take down for cleaning, but it's not that hard.

    New Rifle

    I'm seriously jealous.
  14. The places online that I've seen want like $23 for a box of 9mm. I'm glad I had just bought a couple cases when all this hit.
  15. I found a gun I'd like to order. Do any of you have an FFL you like to use n South Jersey (closer to Philly)?
  16. It's they can call it an "assault weapon", sure, why not? ;-)
  17. I buy from Cabelas and Sportsmans Guide most of the time. Once in a while I'll buy from CheaperThanDirt, but they're not so cheap these days. Once in a while, a miracle happens and TheArmory.com has something good in stock.
  18. I've never been a cop or military. I grew up in hunting country in NW PA, with rifles and shotguns around all the time. I got my first gun of my own when I moved to Philadelphia at age 23. Since then, the last 12 years, I've taken several firearms safety and tactics courses, shot IDPA once in a while, and get to the range with varying frequency. I'm always looking for more training.
  19. I'm not sure about the SOCOM. I've been seeing the M1A for about $1950 or so.
  20. My wife had a great idea once: put a business where women like to hang out, like a nail salon or shoe store, next to the gun shop. That way the guy can go to the range and hang out while is wife is hanging out next door. It makes it a lot easier to spend an afternoon at the range if you know you won't get crap for it when you get home. Then, if your wife buys 10 pairs of shoes, you can justify that new 1911.
