  1. I am about to place an order for a Dillon 550B and preparing to buy reload supplies. Need to buy small and large pistol & rifle primers. Also powder for same. To start, I plan to reload 9mm and .40; Later FN 5.7, .38, .357 (magnum primers), 7.62x39, .223. Does anyone here reload 5.56? I know primers are in short supply right now and shipping comes out expensive w/ hazmat fees. Since I am just stating w/ reloading, I don't want to buy huge quantities (many K's of primers) yet, so I would think buying/picking up may save me some. What retailers you recommend within 2 hour drive from Woodbridge? I am thinking PA, the next free state nearby ... btw. I am thinking of buying the Dillon press from Brian Enos; any alternative sources that can save me some money? I have searched the forum and came up w/ the name Vinny in Freehold. But I couldn't find any pricing. Apparently, Dillon dealers are not allowed to divulge prices ... Can someone who has purchased the 550B, send me a PM with pricing they got recently? Thanks in advance for your recommendations on best dealers/suppliers.

    INTRESTING FIND.

Use a Dremel, dude, but with steady hands! or if money is no issue, buy a computer controlled laser engraver/printer and put your mark on any s**t in sight
  3. Tony: Yes, both were fat. Do we have any LEOs on this forum? I didn't want to associate fat with incompetence (/unsuitable for the job), on the face of it, but I would rather hear facts from real honest people on this forum.
  4. Just had a FTF transaction with a forum member with these instructions. Never did a FTF before, so this advice came in handy.
  5. I will post with second edition tomorrow. Damn tired right now.
  6. Love it! :text-goodpost:
  7. Met people from the forum for the first time. Preacher, tbtrout, tony357, XDJohnTact ... Nice to meet you all. As it's I am terrible remembering names. Now I have to translate forum handles to names and faces  Tony's Taurus 1911 (black, in 38 super) was an excellent shooter. Grip and handling is perfect! Taurus quality has improved significantly and they are a bargain. Preacher's 357SIG kicks, but is a decent shooter. Not for the me in that caliber. I want to get a .40 soon. Reminds me, I have to clean my glock 19 ...
  8. Tony, Nice dog! "Hey Doggie, have you heard the preacher" :?: Dog: "What did you say" :!: :?: "The one with the Hodgdon load data ..." "Oh, never mind ..."
  9. Would love to try them out. I will bring some .40 ammo.
  10. I will be at BA today. I am bringing my Saiga 7.62x39, FN 5.7, Glock 19c, so you can recognize me ... Also, bringing ammo with me to trade, if someone needs it: 223 (no AR yet!) 30-06 (canceled my plan in this caliber) btw. I am looking to shoot a Beretta 92F/FS, or CZ 75 ... anyone has one? You can use my guns. Also, looking for cheap 9mm and 5.7 ammo. Reloads ok, but only if you do safe reloads! ;-)
  11. FWIW: that article is on T&T. Agree completely about stats. Stats get produced to put forward specific agendas and can focus on whatever the author wants. Causal relationship is someone's opinion, and is not scientific to make any conclusions since event(s) are caused by many factors/parameters. For example, what happens to rate of suicides in a bad economy, and how does that related to higher rates of gun purchases? Hmmm ... probably no connection.
  12. Terrorists will do anything to disrupt, but most of all, they want people to know "they did it", not a random act by some nut-cases. This creates fear and that's their goal. Terrorists causing gun bans - I don't think so. On the contrary, this could (theoretically) help the cause of gun freedoms. (Of course, there will be stupid people who would rather outlaw guns so only criminals will have them ... that's a never ending topic.) On a positive note, Americans are well armed as a whole and that's a good thing. What better way to help prevent terrorist acts than tapping into this "large pool of potential armed guards"!? Granted most people (including me) owning guns aren't trained for this type of stuff, but with some training most can assist police and military if called upon. We need people like FDR now to make bold decisions (and screw political correctness), but alas that's wishful thinking ... On the home front, industrial (and infrastructure) terrorism is one of the greatest dangers, and this has bothered me most, since it's very difficult to prevent. For example, of all the goods that come through NJ ship ports (e.g., Elizabeth sea port), only a small fraction is inspected for risky cargo, origin, etc. This is not a secret - you can simply google it to find the facts. A lot needs to be done to plug these holes. There is too much other s**t that's exposed and unprotected. Just recently it was discovered that UAV drone's transmission was tapped into! How's that!? After the fact, we are going to (doh!) encrypt the video transmission! Domestic intelligence and action plans need beefing up ASAP. On the international front ... It's Pakistan's ISI that's harboring terrorists lashkar-e-taiba within Pakistan's borders (!), yet we are focusing mostly on Afghanistan for terrorists! (Yes, I am sure al qaeda/ Taliban / Terrorists are there too.) But, Pakistan as our ally!? This is absurd. That's misguided - money is being wasted (siphoned off) with abandon, with little chance of success. Yes, I am all for supporting our troops, but this is blind leading the blind. We should focus our energies and resources (money) on the home front first. In the meantime, cut-off cash aid to Pakistan, because that same cash is being used against us. Fix the border to south. It's a sieve that allows not only illegals, but is an easy entry route for terrorists. Seriously, consider partnership with India ... certainly has willingness. Read lashkar-e-taiba!! I have more to say, but hey that's for the next edition ...
  13. 5 rounds max in NJ for semi-auto shotguns. It's actually 6+1 rounds. [quote name="NJ Title 13ch54 (http://www.njsp.org/info/pdf/firearms/0 ... 13ch54.pdf)"] 3. A semi-automatic shotgun with either a magazine capacity exceeding six rounds, a folding stock or a pistol grip; Picky, picky! Since the stock mags come in either 5 or 10, I picked the lower of the two! You can mod a 10 rounder to accept only 6, but that's PITA. Besides why call attention by having a long ass mag!?

    My Stag Model 2

Did you buy the Stag 2 locally? What was the total cost including the goodies?
  15. The Saiga 12GA semi-auto is considered a "Sporter". If modified, from stock configuration, then it must comply with 922c. Regardless, the max 5 round mag limit doesn't change in NJ, before or after mods. (Of course, pump shotguns can have more than 5 rounds in a long mag tube.)
  16. Focuses mostly on long guns (w/ few revolvers in between) ... but a good read anyway.
  17. 5 rounds max in NJ for semi-auto shotguns.
  18. Buy any used from them? Anyone has experience with J&G buying used guns, please chime in. I have been wanting a 92FS ...
  19. Good deal, if it works out ... but how can one know the pistol / barrel condition, rounds through it, etc.? It's a hassle and expensive if what you get is below par for the price.

    RUGER 180 ACP.

    Now, that's zero damage potential!

Snow; glad to see you guys are trying to entertain urself!
  22. Not a beauty, but is safe, reliable and simple to operate - no external safety or decocker to fiddle with. Boring perhaps, but this is for SD situation, so reliability is a must. I have run 500+ rounds with one cleaning in between and still goes bang without fail on any commercial ammo (including HP). I have a short barrel 19c, but have test shot long slides (barrels) and they are (feel) more accurate and comfortable to shoot. In general, I have found longer barreled (5"), full-sized pistols work better for me. YMMV based on size of your hands. Native 5+ pound trigger is not ideal for accurate shooting and quick follow-up. If you are used to DA/SA pistols, then this needs some getting used to. My mods: 3.5# trigger link, extended slide catch (easier to use), pinky-thingy, and a buttler-creek rubber grip for firm hold. For sheer looks and reliability, Beretta 92FS SA/DA is still my favorite (would love to own one).
  23. Thanks guys for the concise advice!
  24. So, if you were to compare this deal, you would say it's worth buying locally for $800 for about equivalent value?
