  1. I only clean primer pockets when single stage loading. Dirty primer pockets don't seem to bother my bulk reloads.
  2. Thanks, that is exactly what I was thinking. I reload way too much to add steps like depriming prior to cleaning and drying.
  3. Is there any significant advantage to wet cleaning brass over the standard dry method? I dry tumble my brass in corn cob or walnut with a little bit of nu finish car polish for 4 hours. The brass comes out very clean. My whole purpose to to clean the brass so the dirt won't screw up the dies. The whole process of having to dry the brass after wet cleaning seems like a lot of unnecessary ass-pain.
  4. Here is the Heroes Program link https://staccato2011.com/heroes-program/ Use the link fill in the info and create an account then you get a coupon code. Each time you purchase you log in and get a code.
  5. I just wanted to get rid of stuff. I can't be bothered worrying about where it is going. Who says that the person/group you give it to doesn't just scrap it or resell what you give them?
  6. When I lived in NJ I just used to put anything I didn't want at the end of the driveway. Nothing ever lasted more than a few hours.
  7. I just pulled the trigger and ordered the Staccato C2, the regular one, not the Duo. I have one handgun with a red dot (SIg P320 X5 Legion) and have found that I do not really like red dots on handguns. I can't believe that I spent so much on a gun that I have never shot. They have an excellent LEO/Military/First responder program that is 15% off everything. The military discount includes veterans. The discount took $299.85 off the price. The discount has no limits and can be used for mags, etc. The only bad thing is the long wait...
  8. The Lee Turret press is different. I cannot use my 550 as a single stage efficiently. The lee allows the user to disable indexing and use the press as a true single stage. They move the turret to change the stage, not the shell holder. It stays in place. I completely agree that you should start with a single stage press. Learning to reload safely and methodically will result in higher quality reloads. You can't go wrong with a Rockchucker.
  9. I agree and find that any issues I or anyone else had was user induced. Short shucking is something I had an issue with when I first got mine. I have to say that my go to HD shotgun is my Benelli M1S90 that I have had for years.
  10. I bought one of these along with a bunch of accessories and it just sits and collects dust. I will stick with my Dillon presses. The Hornady LNL I have required too much efforts to keep it running smoothly. There was always something out of adjustment. It is sturdy and well built but doesn't work for me. I like simple. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance. I may set it back up now that I have a proper dedicated reloading room.
  11. Zinc, the enemy of all bullet casters.
  12. I just found 3000 CCI Large Pistol Magnum Primers that I am trading 209 Primers for. The deal is 4K 209 primers for the CCI primers. Fair trade in my opinion. I have 1000's of 209 primers.
  13. I agree, I load a lot of XTP handgun loads. Pre-pandemic cost is $1/rd for those. Mine are tailored to my needs and are very accurate. I know and control the velocity, etc. This year I am handgun hunting with hand loads.
  14. I am not buying any new primers. Still using the same old stash. I was answering the question about how the poster stated his cost per round. If my costs are obsolete does this mean that I am loading ammo for nothing? i have loaded around 4000 rounds in the past few months and have spent nothing on those primers since 15 years ago. What is my cost then?

    Staccato C2

I have been considering getting a Staccato C2 and was wondering if anyone on here owns one or has had any experience shooting one. I handled on at the Nation's Gun Show recently and liked how it felt. I would hate to buy a $2000 gun and not like it. Having only handled one and never shot one I would like to hear some first hand opinions.
  16. Your pricing is based on recent costs. I have thousands of primers and bullets from 15 years ago that were way cheaper. 5.56 55g and 62g were really cheap years ago. I think the cpr is dependent on when the components were purchased.
  17. I have a lot of cases of factory ammo stored, but I only shoot my reloads (centerfire handgun). When figuring labor costs you don't get paid while watching TV or surfing the web. I reload during times that are not billable, my time off. It is relaxing and I am still shooting 300 to 400 rds per week on average. All reloads. I reload 45ACP, 44mag, 44spl, 38sp, 357mag, 45 Colt, 500 S&W and 9mm cases more times than you would think possible. It does save loads of money and still allows me to shoot as much as I want. With my Dillon presses I can reload 400 per hour easy. Rifle takes a lot more prep, but I don't shoot rifle in the quantity than I do handgun.
  18. I had one spare barrel for the SAW and would have no problem burning it out in support of the fire team. You try to maintain fire discipline, but that can become very difficult at times. 1000rds is easy to burn through.
  19. In "actual war" you shoot whatever is necessary even if that means destroying a few barrels. The only limiting factor is the amount of ammo available/resupply and the limitations of the weapons system.
  20. I don't there is a big difference anywhere. Handguns here in VA are selling for MSRP or higher at a lot of shops. Specific ammo is very high when available (9mm, 45ACP, .223/5.56). AR15s and AK are available, especially AKs. I did notice that 7.62x39 is still cheap and available here. The major difference is that our NICS takes about 5 minutes.
  21. I have seen a lot of older military ladder sights where the numbers are in hundreds of yards. That is my guess on what yours is.
  22. I like odd guns in normal calibers. A lever action musket is something I may look for in the future.
  23. Great find. I had never known about the Winchester 94 musket until your post. Really great looking gun. I wonder how it shoots.
  24. I just got back fro the Nations Gun Show at the Dulles Expo Center. Price were absolutely crazy on certain items like 9mm handguns of any type. Ammo was stupid expensive as well. I did buy 1000 Federal Large Pistol Magnum primers for $45 from a guy at the VA Gun Trader booth. The VA Gun Trader forum guys set up a table and allow members of the forum to sell their stuff without charging them anything. I may bring some stuff to the next gun show. Anyone going to the show looking for a deal is going to be very disappointed. It opened at 1PM today and I waited 1 1/2hrs to get inside. I did get to handle a Staccato P and C2 along with a Wilson Combat EDC. They all felt very good in the hand.
