  1. In case you all were wondering what is going on in your towns: http://www.northjersey.com/news/bergen/121410_Police_conduct_emergency_drill_in_North_Jersey.html NEWARK — Officials don't want people to become alarmed if they see a large police presence in northern New Jersey. State troopers and emergency responders will be conducting drills throughout Bergen, Hudson, Essex, Passaic, Morris, Union and Middlesex counties until Friday. The state's Emergency Management Office says the drills are designed to test responders in New Jersey's Urban Area Security Initiative region as part of the ongoing commitment to the Secure the Cities Initiative. 2. hey supposedly in jail ciggs are like cash, maybe in a SHTF instance with the stress levels up it will be the same. Bartering for a good relaxing smoke might be a good judgment call to add to your SHTF supplies.
  3. After field dressing it should be a lot lighter right?
  4. I am planning on getting my license for next year. Just wanted to know what the essentials are: Aside from the obvious Gun and/or Blazing Orange hat and vest. What do you carry on you when you go out, or make sure you have with you.
  5. just bought this off ebay, screw that 3 days of food that only has a shelf life of 5 years. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120655366640 how about 3 months of food that lasts 10-20 years, lmfao
  6. How many others would be hunting in this situation? and if hunters were to run into each other, how would the encounter go in a survival state of mind? just in the bear hunt alone I think they mentioned 7800 hunters, in a survival situation your probably doubling or tripling that number. How long could you live off wildlife that is being hunted by everyone and their grandmother?. I see depletion of wildlife and hunting becoming more difficult over a short period of time with so many hunters/survivors roaming the land, although I could be wrong.
  7. I could of sworn we had a topic of this nature before, but I couldn't find it. There are a lot of new members here on the forum and i'd like to see if there are any new answers to this question. If you have ever had a break in before, how did you handle it? If you have never had your home broken into before, have you thought about how to handle it and if so how would you go about it? Sorry if you were home in the middle of the night sleeping and awoke to a noise of some glass shatter or a door being messed with.
  8. Has anyone ever looked into fruit, or plant growing if you would need to survive out in the bush for a long period of time? was looking into this: http://www.fast-growing-trees.com/FruitTrees.htm I was looking into it, and some of the tree's are fast growers. here is a good fast growing fruit tree http://www.fast-growing-trees.com/BlackTartarion.htm or did anyone look into fast growing seeds?
  9. Does the property owner of the strip mall have any rules or regulations regarding that? You may want to check or even ask, along with consulting a lawyer.
  10. Some bear recipes and looks like proper cooking techniques. Don't know how true this is, but it would be better to be safe than sorry: Keep in mind that about 5% of black bears have parasites in their muscle tissue and when these worms are ingested by humans they cause severe, sometimes fatal, illness called trychinosis. Even when not fatal this illness causes permanent damage to heart, kidneys and muscles – essentially renders you disabled for life. Illness starts with flu-like symptoms and muscle pains, later kidney or heart failure might follow. Less severe cases (depending of number of worms ingested and general health of affected person) resolve in about 6 months – THERE IS NO CURE!!!! Convalescents will have for life arthritis-like pains and disability – or permanent kidney/heart damage with all the nasty consequences. THERE IS ONLY ONE SAFE WAY TO COOK BEAR MEAT – COOK IT UNTIL IS FALL-OFF-THE BONE TENDER !! No freezing, no marinating, no smoking would make it safe except long and sufficient cooking. So forget those rare steaks, sausages and anything other than fork-tender meat if you want to live normal life span. When I cook bear meat, I boil it in broth in pressure cooker until almost tender and marinade for flavor after – and finish my dish until –fall-of-the bone in oven or barbecue. It is always lean, flavorful, never dry and most of all – 100% SAFE!!!! http://www.bowhunting.net/susieq/bear.html
  11. I am glad the Governor is looking into this matter, hopefully once he see's the details of it he can come to a decision that appeases everyone. It will take careful consideration, because their are a lot of hearts keeping an eye on the situation. I don't know man, being Governor is a hard job with a lot of hard calls, reading all the articles I've read about this seems like an injustice especially regarding a long sentence. The gray area of the searched vehicle is also drawing some suspicion, and he had no criminal intent considering all his weapons were inoperable. I think if I'm not mistaken, the law says that any firearm rendered inoperable isn't a weapon in the state of NJ? The magazine is considered high capacity, but 7 years for a high capacity magazine, man that's insane.
  12. yeah I was looking forward to seeing this movie, I was upset it didn't come out on the scheduled November deadline. Must have a little more filming to do.
  13. right now, some coffee.. tomorrow maybe some bud light.
  14. According to the email, you will still need a purchaser permit for private transfers. The card I guess would just make it better for dealer sales.
  15. I just thought it was funny that someone owns one in NJ, and turned it into a party vehicle. Probably someone from Jersey Shore.
  16. yeah all the movies these guys were involved in is pretty funny. Hot Fuzz was another really funny one.
  17. Ok, whose buying this and spraying ZED on the side, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Humber-PIG-built-England-Rolls-Royce-Engine-/180594353712?pt=Military_Vehicles&hash=item2a0c432630#v4-43
  18. Article: http://www.app.com/article/20101130/NEWS03/101130111/Animal-rights-advocates-sue-to-stop-bear-hunt-in-NJ They get denied by the EPA and are now suing.
  19. Any SAF members receive a recommended contribution amount, I got in the mail a recommended contribution amount of 65.00, anyone else get this?
  20. Welcome to the forum smoothie
  21. I think cops should start at 50k and max out around 120k. But I think there has to be a balance, too many cops and you have a police state, to little cops and crime runs rampant. I wouldn't mind them paying a few cops a high salary, rather than paying a lot of cops a high salary. Like Dennis from 101.5 said you can't go 3-5 miles without seeing a cop somewhere. Especially in the nice towns that don't need a huge police force, there is not much going on most of the time and it can be a waste of resources. If they would get rid of jurisdictions or make the towns have combined services and police forces (kinda like Manalapan and Eatontown) I can see it saving resources. about the pension issue, the state needs to figure out a way to raise money for the pension fund, maybe the red light camera's will help with this, even though I hate them lol. Feel like big brother is watching me, but that's besides the point. I've heard the other side of this argument on this topic and it opened my eyes. Think about working a stressful job, and seeing the crap of society day in and day out, not to mention all the other crap you see. I can see this job being mentally and physically tiring on anyone, and on top of that they have to think about what they will do when retirement rolls around. Social Security is in the shi**er, the pention system is horribly dwindled, and now they are reduced to crap for raises. Tell me... where is the future in this type of work? where do you go from here on out? Think if your starting a job at 35 a year and can only get 2 percent increases a year you wouldn't take the job (well unless your cartman from southpark, "respect my authoritai" ). There isn't a future in it, and all of those who were expecting to get a job in this career have thus either turned away or are regretting the decision or going through with it regardless. The only way I can see this changing is if you can make officers exempt from the 2 percent increases, and put new hires on a 401k plan, I think all public employee's should be on a 401k plan. Give them the 8.5 percent in their paychecks and let them decide how they will save their money. If the state needs to makeup some of the money to pay what they took in the pension, they should find a way to cut back programs to help fund the pension for the remaining pension participants.
