Let me start off with I am NOT a NJ2AS member. I commend you (NJ2AS) with getting a grassroots movement off the ground successfully. The current GOAL/Trend seems to be permiting reform. To me permiting reform would equate to abolition of the entire antiquated system we use in NJ. It's seems that you want to negotiate/comprise to get changes made, that hasn't worked in NJ in the past; NO gun group has the political juice to swing the vote of the NJ legislature. Not the NRA, not the ANJRPC, and not the NJ2AS. Looking at other states as guides we find FORCING, through litigation, them to change things due to court decisions being the only means to progress in a heavily ANTI-GUN state. I for one want to see concealed carry here in NJ. It is my right to defend myself, with any means. The gun is IMHO is the best means to maximize my chances. The gun is a tool used to stop threats FIRST and a collectable/toy second. I own guns FIRST to defend myself and family, hunting and competition are just other uses for my tools (guns). I brought up a point to VanDrew at the SJSC meeting, saying why do we need all this redundancy with NJ gun laws? Why am I paying for background check multiple times. His response was... Well, this is NJ. THAT my friends is the opinion of a gun FRIENDLY politician, that's not a concession I am willing to make. Bitter much? For 60 or 120 a year the range is a great deal. If you want well manicured ranges with nazi rso go up north, or if you want to be video taped while shooting go to cummberland rfleman.

I know on an AR the measurement is made by dropping a line down the barrel to where the bold face is. (on a closed bolt) This is PER the ATF. NJSP may use some other magical way of measuring it though.
