  1. I thought I was pretty familiar with most gun shops in NJ, but I've never heard of the on in the subject line. They are listed as a Rohrbaugh dealer on Rohrbaugh's website. That being said, anyone on here own one of these little gems? Would love to see and fondle one. Adios, Pizza Bob
  2. Just for S**ts & Giggles, I went through the list. I currently have, or have had, 14 of the 50 guns named. 15 if you let me slide and count the Super Blackhawk, as they name the plain vanilla Blackhawk on the list. Some of those on the list were pretty esoteric. I fully agree that the 1911 should have been included, but these pretty much seemed to be hunting guns and it might be a stretch to include the 1911 in that category. Interesting list - always nice to see something that validates your taste in weaponry. Adios, Pizza Bob
  3. I had every good intention of going to the Valley Forge Gun Show - even stated such intentions on this board, inviting those of similar lunacy along for the ride. Kept hearing the weather forecasters hypeing the big storm - a French Toast storm if ever there was one (what else is everyone going to make with the milk, bread and eggs the supermarkets always sell out of first?). Figured I'd get up early. Leave by 8 AM - before the snow starts to fly. Be there when the doors open at 9 AM. Hour and a half, two hours max, spent walking the floor and homeward bound before the storm gets serious. OK, wake-up at 6:30 AM. Turn on the rear lights and look out into the yard - no snow, methinks smugly. Plan on jumping in the shower about 7:15 AM - still on track. Get into the bathroom, glance out the window - Hey! How'd everything turn white in 45 minutes? Since it has been so cold the last couple of days, the ground has retained no heat. That means everything that falls from the sky accumulates on the ground. So I did some mental arithmetic: $9 to get in + appx. $6 in tolls + appx. $10 in gas will probably make up the difference in price between ammo I'd buy there and what I can get it for locally. Not worth risking these old bones and relatively new car. The GF escaped to FL for a couple days R&R before my goyish family arrives for Christmas, so it appears that I am stuck home alone. Kinda wish I hadn't watched my current Netflix last night (Beer League - really pretty funny, but you appreciate it more when you're resident of this gulag - Chad, especially funny for Howard fans, and Artie is soooo skinny). That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Sorry gang, no report on the $500 AR's and the $200 AK's and the cornucopia of ammo and reloading components that VF is - just me at the keyboard for the weekend. If I hurry, I may be able to make to Starbucks for a latte, before it gets any deeper. Keep in touch. Adios, Pizza Bob
  4. Gaming.....IDPA or IPSC (USPSA). You will never view static shooting the same. Adios, Pizza Bob
  5. Wow! Seems like just last week when we saw your wife......oh, wait a minute, it was. Double Wow! Congrats to you both - even though she's doing all the work. Adios, Pizza Bob
  6. Greetings! Glad you made it over. Adios, Pizza Bob
  7. This is a very good question and one that I really have a difficult time formulating an answer. Not to cast aspersions, but the Judge is doubtful at best. Taurii are mid-level quality firearms, and while they have the uniqueness aspect in their favor, it's not enough for them to be classics. The problem with identifying a future classic is the the firearms manufacturers are doing it much more efficiently. They identify a future classic and then reintroduce it - both Colt (SAA) and S&W (Classic N-frames among others) have been doing this with regularity. Since we seem to be in the age of the semi-auto, I'd have to pick something like the Sig P225 or P228 in non-railed versions. Of course what I said above applies here also as Sig has reintroduced both those guns. The Sig P210 has already achieved "classic" status and is out of reach, from an availability and financial standpoint, for most of us. Good question, hope you get more responses. Adios, Pizza Bob
  8. I may be mistaken, but isn't there a rail that mounts to the Ruger rail that will then accept the Weaver mount rings? Adios, Pizza Bob
  9. I don't believe anything will chancge regarding the number of permits applied for at one time - they are good for 90 days and can be renewed for another 90, so there is ample time to use multiple permits while complying with OGAM. That being said, remember your permits are issued by your local PD (or the NJSP) and each entity may interpret the law based on their own twisted slant on enforcement. I have heard rumors that there may be change in the FPID and the process for obtaing one. These are ONLY rumors, but in the face of OGAM they make sense. More like a credit card with a magnetic strip, which would make OGAM accountability easier. But then again, this IS New Jersey, where laws are interpreted to mean whatever the municipality wants it to mean, and if changing a system means a revenue stream gets diverted....well, you know. If the FPID system gets changed, there is talk of a fixed period of time that it will be good with a fee being charged for renewal. What a state. Adios, Pizza Bob
  10. Would this maybe be it?...... http://www.suresight.com/ Adios, Pizza Bob
  11. PAFOA is having a get together over at Classic Pistol in Southampton, PA, tomorrow (12/13)starting at 11 AM. Just don't tell them where you are from Info is on their forum. You didn't hear it here. Adios, Pizza Bob
  12. Not to be picky, but they speak Portugese in Brazil  Congrats on your new toy. Enjoy. Adios, Pizza Bob
  13. Let me muddy the waters further. I am in complete agreement with rscalzo, but the statute goes further than that. As I attempted to point out here previously, and was ridiculed, the statute can apply to any bullet designed to expand, not just hollowpoints. Look-up the contemporary definition of dum-dum. But they are legal in your home, to hunt with, to buy, at the range and transport between those points. They are an "add-on" charge. Caught carrying without a permit - that's one charge and then an additional charge for each bullet in the gun. You received some bad advice, but I do agree with you,Old School, in that most NJ firearms law is vague - probably by intent. Adios, Pizza Bob
  14. Mentioned this briefly in the thread about the A'town Forks of the Del Gun Show, but since that is past, thought it deserved one of it's own. This is usually a very nice show with a little something for all interests. You get some vendors here that you don't see at other Eastern PA shows, plus it isn't overexposed the way some other shows are. I intend to go over on Saturday morning. Would like to get an early start (8:30 AM - show starts at 9 AM), because the December show is usually well attended - although I doubt it will be anything like last year when we were in the throes of Obamamania. Anybody that would like to attend and their natural route to VF would take them to the I-95 border crossing between the PRNJ and Freedom, you are welcome to ride along. I have room for three and we can meet-up either at my house (2.5 miles N of that crossing) or the Park-n-ride lot just on the PA side of the bridge. Have one tentative rider, I think - Stanbo - not sure if he was just expressing a desire to go to this show or specifically accepting my offer. Anybody that wants to ride along, please PM me. Thanks. 15. LaRue (and probably others) make a 5/8" riser. Not cheap, but like all LaRue products - quality. Here's a link... http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactic ... .bok?no=28 I have one of these to mount a scope on an AR upper. Used lo-mount rings on the riser. Clears the BUIS and makes the scope easily removable and good return to 0. HTH - nice to meet you last night. Adios, Pizza Bob
  16. Guys, thanks for the great time last night. Really enjoyed meeting all of you. As I said, the distance kind of prevents this from being a regular thing, but for special events like last night (food & toys & the Northern representatives) it's very "doable". Glad I was able to corrupt Matt - although can't figure out why anyone would prefer a DW (revolver) over a S&W - especially an N-frame. To each his own, afterall he is from North Jersey and they do things a little differently up there Maks - who coveted my RCS - S&W also makes the same configuration called the 1911ES - only two-tone, no night sights and no melt job, but the same Commander over Officer's layout. Just thought you'd like to know since you already have a S&W 1911 (verrrrry nice and thanks). Always nice to be able to put a face with a name on the board. Thanks again for putting up with me. Adios, Pizza Bob
  17. Thanks John - we can compare the number of rings and see who is older
  18. Thanks bbk. See you there tonight.
  19. That's not graphite, those are powder burns. That happens when the muzzle is only 3" from the target  Adios, Pizza Bob
  20. Gathering from all of your posts, I gather this is a clique of 20-30-something guys that get together on a regular basis. My question to you is: Can you put-up with an Old Fart at your gathering? I'll bring lots of toys and I share well with others. This won't be a regular thing for me, because like you guys from N Jersey, it's a bit of a hike (about an hour), but being that this is something special, I'd like to meet you guys. Plus I have two guns I haven't shot yet, so there's added incentive. I'll be there around 7 - 7:30. Can someone give me a few more details about BA - How much for non-members? What ammo is allowed? How long is the range? Is there a room for socializing? Distinguishing characteristics, so I can recognize some of you? Thanks guys - hope you don't mind - if you do, speak now or forever hold your peace. Adios, Pizza Bob
  21. Valley Forge has a little something for everybody. Black rifles from both sides of the former iron curtain. Ammo. Sporting arms. Optics, from Chinese crap to high-end Night Force (unfortunately more of the former than the latter). Just a very good general show. I'm heading over on Saturday morning if anyone is heading through Central Jersey and wants to ride along. Just PM me. Adios, Pizza Bob
  22. I figure he's about three fries short of a Happy Meal
  23. I recently participated in a thread, here... viewtopic.php?f=22&t=4202 that tallked about a particular load of Blue Dot powder in the .44 mag with 240 gr. bullets. Tony357 pointed out that the current max load for that configuration is 13.7 grs. I stated that I used to use 16.5 grs. and that was within recommendations AT THE TIME IT WAS LOADED. (Tony your concern is appreciated, and I wouldn't load that today, but I literally put hundreds of rounds, with that load, down range.) So after confirming that 16.5 grs (behind a 240 gr Speer JSP) was indeed tha load I used, I started to dig for old loading manuals. What I found was a terrific example of why only CURRENT loading data should be used. Tony found a 1983 Hercules manual that stated 16.0 grs was the max load. I found a 1978 Hercules manual that states 18.5 grs - that's 2.5 gr. difference in only 5 years. I went further and found two old Speer reloading manuals (yeah, yeah, I never throw anything away). A Speer #9 from 1974 that states a max of 15.5 grs. and a Speer #10 from 1979 (my reference for putting together the loads I used) that states a max of 17.2 grs. (I have these three sources saved as .pdf files - which the board does not accept for attachments. If anybody wants to see them just PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send them along.) Chronologically: 1974 - 15.5 grs (Speer) 1978 - 18.5 grs. (Hercules) 1979 - 17.2 grs. (Speer) 1983 - 16.0 grs (Hercules) 2009 - 13.7 grs. (Unknown) What's the difference? It could be changes in the powder formulation. There was a change in manufacturers from Hercules to Alliant that may have been a contributing factor. But more likely a difference in testing methods and equipment and our own litigious society. Clear up to Speer #8 the only methods Speer used for determing excessive pressure were: 1) Primer appearance; 2) Ease of extraction; 3) Case head expansion. After that period the use of copper crushers and piezo electric transducers were used. Today, we measure cartridge pressure in PSI (pounds per square inch) as opposed to the earlier measure of CUP (copper units of pressure). And, as stated, probably the largest factor: Lawyers and society's propensity to sue at the drop of a hat. I would bet that the data in Speer #9 was just copied from previous dada with no empirical testing. Speer #10 probably reflects data that was arrived at by their new testing methods. At the time, powder manufacturer's loads, which only stated a generic bullet weight, generally were hotter than the bullet manufacturer's, that were bullet specific. Just found all this interesting. I'm sure that you can find parallels with other loads, but all of this just points up the fact: USE THE MOST CURRENT LOAD DATA AVAILABLE. Adios, Pizza Bob
  24. A little late, but Mt. Bethel (PA) Fire Co. show is today. That is north of Easton, just south of the gap on 611. Small show, but sometimes interesting. The biggie is coming up. Valley Forge Gun Show at the convention center is 12/18 - 20 - two weeks and counting. Adios, Pizza Bob
