  1. everyone needs a few Valiums and or Ativans to go with their AKs... calm down, rap tap and bang... Enjoy those 7.62x39mm ballistics... woooohhsaaaaahh.. say it with me... wooooosaahhh,
  2. So apparently we were offically told Colt Match Target series AR-15/M4 style rifles are good and the new Springfield Armory M1A is allowed. They said the OLD M1A had features which are still evil and therefore isn't un-banned, ergo- is still banned... but the new one has changes. So I ask you, if some one I knew of who knew someone who had a bobs-your-uncle-and-Dad-and jimmboy-brother... had an older M1A that became banned... Could he take the steps to correct whatevr the problem is and then it would now be legal? And what would those steps be? Thanks very interested in this,,.,,
  3. Yea get a Ruger 10/22, a Remington 870, a Bushmaster AR/M4, ... and so on... and you can be JUST LIKE everyone else! Just kidding, ain't nothing personal, I'll do what work for me , ya do what works for you! The S&W M&P 15-22 is one of my all around most favorite firearms purchase... it's high quality, effective, entertaining, highly modifiable.. but dirt cheap to shoot, excellent accurate with cheap and match-championship accurate with real good ammo, just all around awesome. Completely different monsters, the 10/22 and the 15-22. I personally chose a semi-auto and scoped Remington 597 .22LR in synthetic stock *AND* a Savage GXP, checkered fine wooded , bolt action, .22LR MARK II, to go along with my S&W M&P 15-22 AR style 22LR... so I have rimfire covered and I did not and would not get a 10/22... but they're great, just not my cup of tea.
  4. Thanks much VJ. I actually have seen one other thought process/setup that I liked a lot. I take it, apparently, the "flat dark earth" was more "bright tan-ish" before.. like this : http://cheaperthandirt.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Magpul_masada_Ctsy_Zak_Smith_Demigod_LLC.jpg So I saw a "digital camo pattern" on a carbine, and the rail had a lot of that tan-ish color amongst the XTM rails. But they also used one of the Magpul fore grips , NOT the angled fore grip that I have , one of the vertical ones (which are short, squat, stubby,) and that also was in the tan-ish Flat Dark Earth. That really made the rifle nice as well. I don't have a duty weapon / combat carbine / etc. so my S&W M&P 15-22 is both my only AR style rifle, it's my primary but also it's just plain fun for me, so messing around to get the look or looks that I like is fun for me... Which, contrary to what a lot of people believe and practice, I believe that they should bring you FUN, and Magpul accessories make the 15-22 more fun for me, so therefore, that's how I roll. Hopefully I don't get to the point where I have a whole different bunch of sets of accessories and colors so I can Magpul-mashup my rifle according to mood or day of the week. That would be fantastically terrible and awesome at the same time.
  5. Here is the stock I am having installed http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productnumber=455458 It's nice, and I completely agree the more expensive , higher "quality" Magpul stocks aren't really necessary on a .22LR. And I have a pretty cool scheme on the rifle, OD Green MBUIS, MOE Pistol Grip, MOE Angled Fore Grip, and now will have the MOE Stock, all in OD Green. The Quad Rail has a digital camo scheme of the XTM Rail Cover clips, in OD Green, Flat Dark Earth, Black, and Foliage Green ... I may change that around some time but as of now, that's how it is. I can't decide if I want to leave the XTM covers the way they are (Basically I bought a package of each color, and dumped them into the box, and then mixed them up and pulled at random, and established one side as a random color "digital camo" pattern. I then repeated that on the other side, and used the extras on the top.) ... Or might get some more OD Green clips and make it completely OD Green scheme on the black, or even get another set of each color and further randomize the camo pattern. One thing that was not told to me by the person/company I bought the XTM clips (and other stuff) from, was that a package of XTM clips do not cover the 15-22. It was said "One pack covers a standard carbine length rail so a pack of each will cover 4 sides"... But the 15-22 apparently has a longer than standard quad rail, it requires 6 to 7 clips instead of 4, so I couldn't do it completely right. Will post a new pic when the stock is on...
  6. Read about this somewhere else .... Any Info ? These bad boys any good and also Nj legal: avail? Thx !
  7. has anynone serious recommendations? My dad's 60th bday / aniv of retiring from his 34 year career on the force rapidly approaching, and he has everything and when he wants something, he just buys it. He did however just get a new vacation place in the Poconos oh a whim and he's loving up there nd his new "family"... BUT he did mention borrowing a chainsaw from someone so ...if he needs to gut a tree, cut some stuff, etc... he'll need something useful... Who knows teh hotnezz about chainsaws> Thanks! my backup plan will most likely go boom.
  8. these wouldn't work for my single stack Zastava PAP right?
  9. to me this is a good comparison for the Remington R-15 ... Slightly unique in its field ,got its own look..but seem to be rock solid and really good quality and they bought really caught my inner eye of interest. Like the Remington R-15, I don't have a traditional AR-15 and I like that R-15, and like having the one that is and even LOOKS different than everyone elses. Same with this 1911, I don't have one but would like the one that despite its class, it's obvious quality etc. it's not the standard expensive -insert brand-here... and I like it for that reason. Well done, but I am a AR stupid n00b and a 1911 absolute novice.
  10. I have not shot a PGO shotgun, admittedly, but also have looked at the JIC as an extra shotgun ( Shotguns, like .22LR rifles, to me, you can NEVER have too many .. just so many styles to choose from, and they're like golf clubs, select the right one for the right mission etc :ugeek: ) But I was going to get the less expensive M4-style adjustable stock for the PGO persuader as well... and then I considered getting one of those two badass tacticool Mossbergs, the Rolling Thunder and or Road Blocker, and installing the stock... they get expensive though, at that point might as well get the 590(A1 or SPX even) that I would really want.
  11. Yes thank you gents , I would indeed like to have it done. Unfortunately CMO where I bought the rifle won't do it, they " don't want to screw it up " ... Anyone on here interested ,? Also if anyone has comments on the differences of the Magpul stocks , I'd like to hear them , i figure just to go MOE but If you have the upgraded stock or even that Masada/SCAR type stock please tell your opinions. I'm probably going OD MOE , seen as low as $45 , RRages I think $65.
  12. I am thinking about ordering a Magpul stock for the 15-22 ... I am just not sure how to install it. I checked with a few ppl, some said not to mess with the 15-22 Compliant version's stock, it was not going to be change-able ... Then I called Smith and Wesson and the guy said not only CAN you do it, he himself owns the 15-22 Compliant version and he changed his own stock to put an aftermarket (not a Magpul, a different brand stock but still same idea) on his... He said I could do this and it would not void any warranty etc. I am just wondering how to do this/how hard it would be? I don't want to spend the 50-100 bucks to find out either I can't do it, I break something, and/or I can't find anyone to do it for me or help me... Any ideas/suggestions? I really like what I've done with my 15-22, and I get a lot of compliments etc but the stock needs to be changed for me to consider it "done"...
  13. I have actually been wanting a Polish Tantal for some time now, are they NJ Legal? All I see them with are these thin metal stocks, I guess they're some sort of folding stock,. and truth be told I would not want one of those anyway, they look so stupid to me, but I would love a Polish rifle, family history there.. I read somewhere Poland made every good weapons ? Glenn that Plum colored wood is very nice... Nice subdued color and classiness. and I apologize for the million questions, I did not mean to start a caliber war or a NATO vs. Commie etc.... Just learning here.. and obviously there is plenty of knowledge to be had here so , I appreciate it cause I enjoy reading it./
  14. I didn't realize that the .223 was designed for a 20" barrel... Thank you for that... I am leaning towards the 5.45 ... Because I have two other wishes/wants I've yet to fulfill in my portfolio , but I will wait until I can really do them right... One is a fully-equipped and nice 5.56/.223 US made M4 style AR, one is a .308 scoped bolt action "sniper" style rifle.. I think I'd rather have a 5.45 "assault" style carbine for the purposes of this exercise..Thank you much. DamagedWorld if you're still tracking this thread, maybe you could do this for me or help me etc?
  15. So not only are you such an ignorant person that insists on the whole Lil Scrappy thing after I personally asked you to cut that out, you are not intelligent enough to use basic reading comprehension? An 870 was not one of the choices of this exercise... Please re-read the question and , actually, no need to provide another answer, you've already failed. Please refrain from replying to anything I say and I will ignore your stuff, and we can peacefully coexist
  16. Upon more checking out of RRages they actually have a few magnified "tactical rifle scopes" with red dots mounted on top, that is kind of cool AND useful right? Red dot for close range/combat/etc. and the magnified scope for slowing down/aiming/precision?
  17. Thank you all again. And please forgive me i DID Not mean to suggest a 5.45 could shoot 5.56... I meant , if its the NATO Caliber Saiga can it shoot NATO 5.56 ammo and commerical/store bought .223... I think if its one label it can shoot both but the other can only shoot its stamped caliber... I just meant to compare the 5.45 vs the 5.56 and what would be a better idea to buy, as your advice I mean. I've got several .22LR rifles, 3 different styles all excellent weapons, actually 3 bangin rimfires, so I am set there. I have an amazing shotgun and if / when I get another I know what I will get, and now I have a 7.62x39mm rifle in my Zastava... So while I may get a SKS (Does anyone have a good SKS deal, I saw a Yugo SKS on Gunbroker , but someone told me I can find good deals on milsurp Commie SKS's packed in cosmoline if I look at the right spot?) ... So I would like another "assault style" carbine rifle in the AK Style, and having the 7.62x39 already, I think I would want a smaller caliber AK Carbine, therefore the 5.45 or .223... What is your recommendations? ( and why, so I can understand) I do understand that it's not an AR rifle, I am wondering if I can get one of these, lets say a converted Saiga in 5.45 or 5.56 and/ maybe put a not-too-expensive, not too serious, magnified scope on it, and have the capability to shoot accurately a "couple hundred yards.." I was told to expect pie plates at 100 yds with the Zastava, and hope and train I can actually hit something at 100-200, 200 being the max. Also was told use a non-magnified red - dot because this is for shooting people not paper targets, so use red dot for quick acquisition and putting the rounds where they need to be that way, quickly and accurately enough, 'minute-of-man'. I ain't no sniper and the Saiga wont be a sniper rifle, but maybe could make a decent shot if it was required and this was what I had to make it with. Maybe like this : http://rrages.com/sight/4xacog/index.htm , a 4x ACOG Clone, or even this : http://rrages.com/sight/mark3/32/2732/index.htm a 2-7x 32 scope... No reason to put a real , nice, powerful, serious magnificatino scope right, because it just wont shoot for it? Thanks again for the help, I appreciate your guys help, I am just trying to learn and make the best decision I can with the little money I got , you know? Especially when this is not an impulse buy like most of my portfolio, I am waiting and taking my time and will try to get exactly what I want/need/can afford
  18. Just wanted to add here, I believe Dick's Sporting Good keeps in stock, a Remington 700, SPS Varmint is it? In usually like .308/.223/and .22-250? ... Its a green synthetic stock, cheap but fair scope, Rem 700 action, combo, for $499.99 ... the scope is branded as "Remington" I believe.. I got a 3-9x38? on my 597.. its like the smallest, the 770 has a bigger scope and the 700 has the biggest of the three, but the rifles all look like the same.. It seems like its damn similiar to the one you got, not the EXACT same but similiar, in case anyone wants an inexpensive Rem 700 package locally.
  19. So I am looking for a pump to go along with my Mossberg 930 SPX... I had a Benelli Supernova , 24" SteadyGrip pistol-grip-stock with red fiber-optic-sight.. I loved the gun but it was too big for me and for home defense, I will never be a hunter let ALONE a turkey hunter at that (and it was their expensive turkey gun model)... and I needed the money that week. I am considering getting a new one from the Cabelas in PA, maybe not (from somewhere else) .. but I would like a pump as a backup to my autoloading primary defense weapon... I have found the Benelli Supernova TACTICAL I really wanted to begin with... it's almost $500. I was about to buy a Mossberg 590 from CMO on Monday... It was the 20" heavy-walled barrel, parkerized, adjustable M4-style stock, Ghost Ring sights, and factory installed capacity of 8+1... I almost bought the Mossberg AND the Zastava from CMO, but they wouldn't give me a discount for buying two guns, for being a good customer, for the scratches on the 590's receiver, nothing. "Why should we give you a discount, people buy 5 guns at a time here...We sell at least 20 guns a day, business is never better... so we don't need to give you a discount, someone else will buy whatever you don't buy .. " (all probably true, but, you never know when things will change or who I will grow up to become, etc.. it can come back to haunt you..) Anyway I bought the rifle, I knew I wanted to have that... and held off on the shotgun.. I have since spent the money so I'm not buying it righ away, but this forum could use some action, so what do you think? What have you, kind sirs, and squires ? What have you, Mossberg 590(A1?) or Benelli Supernova (Tactical?) American made by way of Sweden or Italian Sexay? Smooth and Sensual Benelli or Mossberg Power and Jaw-cracking parkerizing potential!?
  20. OK ok thank you for those answers that was a nice variety of what I wanted to know/needed to know /etc. Glenn: Thank you for telling me who to talk to IF I went that route, but that is no longer than option. $350 for work plus around $150? I'm told for parts is what, $500, plus the, lets just say $400 maybe even $500 for the actual Saiga rifle, for that $1000 I could get an Arsenal you're right. BUT for $1000 I would either A:- Get the AR (Colt MT I've always wanted, a Colt M4 style is one of my personal "dreamers" ; or a S&W M&P 15 M4-style etc ) I've wanted for my portfolio, but this is unlikely... I will only get an AR if I can afford to get exactly what I want and then customize it exactly how I want and put great optic on it etc. so, AR is unlikely for now and foreseeable future ) , B:- Get a Saiga for less than $500 and spend the other ~ $500 on an Aimpoint for my current Zastava /other guns in my portfolio C:- Get a bolt-action rifle & Scope and accessories for my collection and then add the rest of the balance to general ammo, mags, etc. for everything I have. FFDP: I think am going to do what you suggest. Maybe I will try and if I start to fail I can always ask for Fatherly or Friend help and THEN if still necessary go the next help route. DamagedWorld: I have been admiring yours in secret silence for a long while. I hope to add an Aimpoint (hopefully Micro as well) to my Zastava. (A side note question: If I buy one Aimpoint, is it okay to put it on the weapon I am using presently, and then switch it around, like, The Rifle Of The Day would get to use my one Aimpoint, and lets say I decide to take the 15-22 out, I could throw it on there , but keep it on my Designated SHTF rifle (lets say the Zastava, and it stays on the Zastava in the house etc.) but then want to take out the newer Saiga AK, I could put it on the Saiga for that day, and then return it to the Zastava, and generally throw it on the rifle I'm shooting that day? Is that okay for the Aimpoint, since it's so high quality and rugged that's fine right?) Basically I would want a Saiga with a regular stock and pistol grip (and then I guess the trigger group because its necessary for the lawful conversion , and makes it better right?) I don't know if I'd want the mag well changed , is that important to do, good to do, recommended, not recommended, etc? And I am THINKING I would want it PROBABLY in 5.45, which is the smaller Communist carbine caliber right? I also have the 7.62x39 mm Zastava, so I don't think its necessary to have another 7.62 x 39 mm, but I would take and like your suggestion of which caliber Saiga to go with (with the thought process it is to become an "assault style and sized" carbine, ) I hear 5.45 is very very inexpensive, not sure if that's true or not.. And also not familiar with the pros and cons of that round... Is the 5.56/.223 capable of shooting both? That seems like a nice choice, as I have no rifle to shoot .223 and I know its plentiful and would be good to have (No immediate plans for an AR unless I get an extremely good deal or I find $2000 for free... Is the Saiga accurate (enough) .. with the 5.56 in mind could it do well compared to an AR ( I know its NOT an AR but could it do okay? Cause 5.56 is much better distance and accuracy vs. the 7.62x39 in the Zastava I'm shooting? Thanks for the info and help.
  21. I am possibly interested in getting a Saiga... I would like a Saiga AK but, Arsenal is very expensive and , I am not so sure I can do the conversion myself. I was taught at a young age "A wise man knows his limits/limitations" and better safe than sorry, etc. So I am not sure I could do the work. But no one seems to have any AKs in NJ other than somewhere I talked to (One of the ranges ?) had Romanian WASR's and the New(er) Zastavas.. Which I have and like very much. But I might want another in the future. It's not a pressing need and I am not desperate or even prepared to spend the money tomorrow, but is there somewhere who sells Saiga AKs or does the work for making the $300-$400 Saiga rifle into a Saiga AK style? Thanks much for the info.
  22. I was told that, and please forgive me if I'm wrong because I am not a gun expert, but I was told that regular Yugo furniture does NOT work because of the "trunonions" or something like that being "Sliced on an angle?" ... and therefore they need their own special designed stuff. But please feel free to chime in here with the truth / drop the knowledge /etc. Thanks muchl
  23. Any info on changing/upgrading the furniture on the PAP? I called EAA they said they're going to try to find me some... I would be interested in the wood furniture or even better, a more traditional AK buttock and pistol grip... this is not my forte so as always, info is appreciated.
  24. You, Sir, have made the Best. Post. Ever. That should be made into a t-shirt or something.
  25. Old School, Just want to throw out there, I have no plans on using the 40-9 Barrel and G17 mags (shooting 9MM rounds) anywhere but the firing range... The only reason I did this was because it was explained to me I could save lots of money shooting 9MM at the range when I'm shooting purely for fun, and keep the factory 40 S&W setup for reliability and power in HD situations... I'm keeping the gun as a .40 S&W G23 , I just wanted to plink with 9MM occasionally.. Is that okay to do without the parts changing? The Lone Wolf Dist. ppl said this is fine, no problems. Thanks for your info again sir, much appreciated. (Like I said I am/was considering even adding the .357 SIG conversion barrel. For One hundred bucks, and the same Glock mags, I can have the .357 experience. Seems a LOT CHEAPER and HELL OF A LOT LESS HASSEL than getting another permit to buy a Sig
