  1. This is a little of topic, but for those who plan on going for General or higher, or those who desire to learn/improve knowledge level of electronics and theory, this will help: www.jacquesricher.com/NEETS/ This is the complete Navy Electronics and Electricity training course material. Excellent information. I refer to it often even today.
  2. I've bought a couple of brand new ACOGS on Gunbroker for excellent prices. A brand new TA01NSN for $800, and s brand new TA31F for $875. Both were brand new in box with warranty cards, and came directly from distributors. Shop around, there are deals out there.
  3. Shane, your insight is outstanding as usual. Regarding the Trijicon 1-6, how do you define a 'usable reticle'? I have heard rumors bouncing about the interwebs about a BDC chevron. Any word to BDC being calibrated for .308, perchance?
  4. I'm going to put a hold on optics decisions for the LE901 until I see this. Very interesting .....
  5. Wow. That sounds like a chunky setup. Would you mind posting a pic of that?
  6. Honestly I didn't notice. I'll be back there next week. I'll check if I remember.
  7. On two occasions this week, I bought ammo at the Wal-Mart in Willow Grove, Pa. I bought a mixture of 5.56 and 7.62, about 300 rounds per trip. Neither one of the employees asked me for ID of any kind.
  8. I'm in partial agreeance with Vlad. I would choose the Aimpoint Pro over the Comp M4. You can buy a lot of batteries for he price difference, as Vlad correctly noted. I prefer the 4x fixed mag of the ACOG. It's simple, and not a lot to go wrong. No batteries. BAC works very well if you practice with it. Makes it work like a red dot. I find that even with my near 50 year old eyes, I can effectively, and consistently hit a man sized target at 400+ meters with it. The built in BDC is nice too. For me, it's a SIMPLE best of both worlds. I am interested in a VCOG for my Colt LE901 7.62 rifle. Not a huge fan of the reticle (the horseshoe would be my choice out of the offerings). The longer effective range capability of the 7.62 round makes me want more magnification than just 4x, and I think the VCOG fits the bill for me nicely. The price....OUCH!!
  9. I'm an ACOG guy. The TA-31F is my choice. Simple. Rugged. The BAC concept makes the reticle as useful as a red dot at closer ranges, with the utility of 4x magnification. Some people don't like the short eye relief, but I grew up on NTCH shooting, so it's ideal for me.
  10. Colt's 694x series of rifles has a monolithic upper receiver, which free floats the barrel. The rail is one continuous piece, making an excellent optics optics platform. Extremely rigid. They are very accurate rifles.
  11. I don't care about the rain. Can hardly walk around out there due to all the mud. My roads have turned to absolute hell!!
  12. I'm out at the ranch in Texas this week. Was hoping to get some shots of the Colt 6944 in action, but it's been raining non stop since we got here. Best I can do for now: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ihuhipb7vkzl3pk/photo%20mar%2022%2C%2007%2028%2048.jpg?dl=0 If it dries up a bit, we'll put it through it's paces and take some pics.
  13. I have a 15/20 blocked Pmag I'd be happy to loan you, if it will help. PM me if you need it.
  14. Colt 6944 upper with A2X comp. TA31F on LaRue mount. Bayonet lug is shaved. https://www.dropbox.com/s/i4h6pagsqnv045h/photo%20mar%2006%2C%2011%2057%2008.jpg?dl=0
  15. I was trained from 5 years old to shoot with iron sights. It's a skill set that my dad and my grandfather drilled into my head from the very beginning. I still keep proficiency with them, however, I find that as I get older, the ability to hit my target with irons is still there, but target identification is the problem.
  16. This is the most intelligent post on this subject yet. If one concludes that man causes GW based on 150 years of data, then they are DOING IT WRONG. Congrats on your new Beretta, Kevin!
  17. Right. The 150 or so years we have been recording temperatures are an insignificant statistic, there is not enough data to come to any intelligent conclusions.
  18. I find it very arrogant that men think they can effect the climate on this planet so adversely by industrization. The naturally occurring events in the cosmos have put this planet through FAR worse than mankind could ever dream of doing. This planet, and the cosmos, will kill mankind and every being on the planet LONG before mankind develops the capability of doing so.
  19. Oh God, are we STILL having this 'my FAL can beat up your SCAR' argument? lol
  20. Hell, I can't get out of Jersey fast enough as it is.....even a smallish lotto score would send our plans to vacate into hyperdrive!! Already have the ranch in the middle of nowhere.....just want enough to comfortably retire there.
  21. Spring G&A is one of the others I was trying to think of. One of my co-workers and I go there when I'm in town. He has a few cool NFA toys we play with there. Damn, I can't wait to move back to Tx!!
  22. Magnawing, I failed to mention the most important thing...where is the nearest range. Yeah, I know....how could I forget that?? I like Carters Country out on FM1960. Check out the extensive trophy room. Bill Carter is quite the hunter, and has taken game from all parts of the world. CC has an extensive firearms inventory, and on site gunsmiths. The range is well run, and the RSO's run a tight ship. There are other ranges in the area, but CC is the one my dad and I go to prior to deer season to check zero (dad lives nearby). Check it out, I think you'll like that place.
