Displaced Texan

Gaffer tape doesn't leave a residue like electrical or duct tape. I just recently discovered it, probably old news to many of you guys.

Took my new Colt 901 carbine to SJSC last Saturday. Got it dialed in at 100 yards. This Saturday, I'm taking the 901 and my 6940 to play on the 300yard range. Check that...drove out to SJSC to play on the 300 yard range, but the whole range was closed today. Didn't realize today was the day for the Sportsman's Jamboree. Day wasn't a loss, however. I had a great time exploring the jamboree and browsing the many vendors. Maybe tomorrow I'll get to play.

Pelicans are AWESOME! Don't ask how I managed to do this, but I knocked a pelican case containing my Colt 6940/ACOG down a flight of metal stairs. It hit the bottom HARD. I thought for sure I was screwed. Didn't even lose zero on the optic. If it can survive that, it will do fine with the airport baggage handler monkeys. No offense to airport baggage handlers intended. Pelican is the only case I'll pack my rifles in to travel.

Ahhh, that's good news. Wasn't able to get on their website to look into it further. Kept giving me a DNS error.

Call me after they get a couple of years of heavy use through that lower. Cool looking....yes. I doubt that it will hold up to heavy use or a high round count. I would be impressed if it does.

I'm a Colt guy, but when I move back to TX, a Barret REC7 sbr is first on my list. I have always wanted one of those, with a can, of course. That will be my 'coming home' present to myself!

Bought the rifle from an online dealer out of Tn. Had it shipped to Adco to do the compliance work. The Tn dealer would not ship to a NJ FFL, he wS afraid it would cause an issue. I don't blame him, I blame the stupid, incomprehensible, messed up NJ laws. Not Adco's fault either. I told them where to pin the stock based on where my Colt/Rogers stock is pinned. There is a slight difference in length between the iMod and the Rogers stock, and I screwed the pooch on the measurement.

I won't be back until late tomorrow, Ed. I have a client in NYC to visit. Later in the week might work for me, as my schedule is open Thursday.

First range trip with the 901 today. I'm pretty impressed. Not much more felt recoil than a 5.56mm carbine. It'll shoot too. Stock is definately too short. Wish I was able to send it to a local smith to make the gun compliant so I could have fitted the stock to me, but the dealer I bought it from wouldn't send it to a 'smith in NJ. I'll remedy the stock issue next week. Yeah that makes better sense. Although after reading a couple of articles this morning about illegals being flown in and dumped off, it rattled my head a little. I'm in Lynn, Mass outside of Boston, today. I read an article on Drudge talking about Lynn being one of those 'dumping grounds. Gets you thinking, sometimes not the right way.

Flew out of Philly this morning, and I noticed there were MANY people sleeping in the terminals and passageways covered with silver 'space blankets'. Thought it was odd. I just arrived in Boston Logan, and I'm seeing the same thing. People sleeping on cots covered in space blankets. I fly pretty often, and I don't think I've ever seen this. What the hell, are these illegals that are being flown in and dumped off at the airports? I've heard this was happening, but never saw it first hand. WTF??

Going to have to remedy that in the long run. I to be in position 3 instead if position 2. No huge deal. Didn't get to shoot this weekend, wife is under the weather so stayed home to care for her. Going to get it sighted in next weekend, for sure.

For now, I've installed my TA01NSN ACOG on it, until I decide what optics I'm going to use. Excited to get it to the range and giver it a whirl! I'll post some better pics of it later.

Ummm, I don't think I'm going to be able to stand up for awhile.....that's gorgeous!

I have bought lots of ammo through them, also an upper. Good prices, great upper, but shipping is slow as hell. If I need it quick, I don't buy from them. Never had a customer service issue with them, and I hope never to have one.

I have a friend back in Tx who has one, but I've never shot it. Standing invitation to do so. Next trip out I'm going to make it a point to lose my .50 cal virginity! Good on you and glad you had a good time!
