  1. Still be interested to know what you carry on your rig.
  2. My question was not of the "why do you need this" variety, but an "I don't have one and want to know if I should look into getting one". I understand this opens up the possibility of carrying armor. I wanted to know what people carried other than mags, as I can carry some mags on my belt comfortably. Now if I was carrying more than what I listed, or maybe even if the rifle mags were standard capacity, then it might be too much for a belt. I don't know. I'm trying to learn what my possibilities are.
  3. I carry my FNS-9 in an Alien Gear holster. The quality seems pretty good, especially compared to their price point. That being said, it's not a small holster. Granted, carrying a full size pistol in shorts and a t-shirt make for an unpleasant experience, which is probably the root of the problem.
  4. On a serious note, what do you guys use these rigs to store? I'm actually curious. I understand integrating pouches and such in if it's on an armor carrier. But wearing a vest for carrying just mags seems excessive. To each their own. I tried one once, and was not sold at all. I've since just gotten a couple kydex mag holders that attach to a regular belt. My 1911, two spare pistol mags, and three AR mags will fit on or behind my hips. It leaves my torso open and very comfortable. Just curious what the rigs are actually used for carrying.
  5. Good for them. I've been wondering if the Navy will be making any useful changes before I get out. So far, the only decision they seem to be interested in are changing the uniforms every 4-5 years after spending millions of dollars in research, changing the rating system, then 4 months later taking away the rating system, and finally reinstating said rating system after a bunch of backlash. It'd be nice if they moved in the forward direction.
  6. To be honest, I don't remember the model. I have tried looking it up, with no success. It was a lower ens model. No GPS. Other than standard digital watch features, it just had an altimeter and barometer. All that aside, I loved the watch. Suunto makes great watches, and I can only imagine how nice their better watches are.
  7. I've never had a Garmin, but I do own a Suunto. Not that I'm "special", I'm in the engineering department on a submarine. It's a pretty industrial environment. My Suunto only lasted about a year and a half of getting banged around. It still "works", however the wrist band broke in two places, and the bezel got knocked off. They're built pretty tough compared to cheap watches, but don't hold a candle to G-shocks, of which I own two. That being said, a Suunto watch will stand up to outdoor abuse, as you're not banging it on metal pipes and bulkheads and valves.
  8. Ray, I think you have spent enough time loving scatterguns...
  9. If you really want to keep it covered, rig up a tarp with some paracord and some kind of sliding knot.
  10. I'm assuming that this is a sarcastic response. In case it's not, that's what the takedown pins are for. AR15.com's takedown case is pretty small, and I can fit my AR with an Aimpoint PRO and Surefire flashlight, 4 AR 15/20 mags, 1911, and 2 1911 mags in it.
  11. $230 which allows you to fold the stock, and only fire one shot? Huge waste of money, even if it was legal. Besides, when will any of us ever need to transport a rifle in a fashion that requires folding the stock?
  12. That totally changes things then. If you can't safely maneuver, then you made the right choice.
  13. Why not put it through it's paces in the rain?
  14. I just placed an order for a Benchmade Barrage. I'll use my Griptillian most of the time, especially at work. The Barrage will be what I carry outside of work since it's a more expensive knife. I got the Barrage with a dark gray handle, black nuts and clip, and a toxic green cerakoted blade.
  15. Then why buy a Mustang at all? Buying a <V8 muscle car has never made sense to me. Muscle cars are meant to have big engines in them.
  16. I understand that the 2015 is brand new, and got a face lift from 2014. However, you will in fact take a decent hit for just buying a brand new vehicle. Have you considered getting a one or two year old Mustang? You could easily get a 2013 or 2014 GT for roughly the same price, if not a little less. That will give you more power, while also taking less of a hit in value. Also, speaking from experience, I hope that you are considering this purchase as a second vehicle? If not, and you plan to drive this car year round, I suggest that you reconsider. I'm only speaking from experience.
  17. I have also had a windshield replaced by Safelite, and was pleased with their service. Also, I would recommend calling your insurance company. I didn't think about this until I heard from someone else, and then learned that my windshield was completely covered under my insurance. I didn't pay a dime.
  18. This. If you do happen to get that $250 back, do yourself (and everyone else on the road) a favor and use that to take a driving course. Sounds like you need it. You made a mistake. Own up to it and deal with the consequences.
  19. Right, so since they're used mostly for cutting duties, is there a reason for carrying two? Do you need to cut two different things at the same time? Do you need a backup knife, just in case you run out of ammo, and you pull your main knife and it breaks? It seems like overkill.
  20. You can still customize a select few models. It's quite expensive though, when you can get a basic Griptillian for significantly cheaper.
  21. I only own one Benchmade knife (second one on the way), however I'm very happy with the quality, and have read nothing but good reviews about them. Benchmade offers a 30% discount to Military/public safety. This seems to include military, federal and local law enforcement, EMT, fire, and rescue. The 30% discount results in pretty good prices. I will not benefit from this in any way, I just wanted to share the wealth. https://www.benchmade.com/ps_register.aspx?
