  1. A sabot slug is going to have better penetration than a rifled slug, but you'll need a rifled barrel to shoot them accurately.
  2. I don't doubt this was their motivation for passing this bill, but it might have the opposite effect than what they were intending. It will probably show there are a lot more gun owners in NJ than most people realize. I come across people I've known for a good while that I only find out are gun owners a lot later on. As a general rule, people in NJ don't like to admit they are gun owners to others unless they know the other person is also a gun owner or at least sympathetic toward gun ownership. We've been indoctrinated to believe gun ownership is bad and shameful, keeping it hidden is very common here in NJ.
  3. ^^^^THIS^^^^ It could be a lot worse here right about now.
  4. Congress can counteract EO's by defunding the ATF's ability to act on the EO. In other words if Congress wants to void Obama's EO the can pass legislation that forbids the ATF from spending any money enforcing the rule, which effectively forbids the ATF from doing what the EO says. Sometimes Congress gets pissed when a President tries to use EO's to do an end run around the Legislature and defunds his EO's.
  5. The cabinet I bought had predrilled holes and lag bolts with it, they still charged me tax on it.
  6. I don't think those provisions of the "SAFE Act" begin until January of 2014
  7. Yeah, I had this argument with Dick's a couple of years ago over a gun "cabinet", they charged me tax on it.
  8. I believe Tennessee is one of the states that requires all firearms that are no longer needed by a PD (ones they owned them self or ones that were seized) to be sold and not destroyed.
  9. The feds give a lot of their old service weapons to third world countries PD's as aid - Central and South America in particular, to fight "the war on drugs".
  10. Bottom line.........it's technically illegal, but the prosecutor is highly unlikely to charge anyone. And even if the prosecutor did charge someone, you would have a really good case to claim necessity - like breaking into someone's house if it's on fire with the intent to save them.
  11. $7.50 per square foot? - those pavers better gold nuggets stamped into them at that price. I'm not close to you, but I sell pavers for under $3 a square foot and I have some close out pavers for $2 a square foot. Shop around, you're certain to find cheaper pavers somewhere.
  12. I'm not sure we are the ones letting "them" frame the conversation. It's more like the liberal media has refused to allow us to adequately present our arguments or made us look like nut cases while doing it. The internet has changed all that, the liberal media no longer has exclusive control over what information the public receives.
  13. Well, something to consider, Christie so far has had to nominate judges that he thinks he can get approved by the Democrat controlled Senate,. So your not going to get far right conservative judges nominated, if the Republicans take over, that won't be a problem anymore. The other thing to remember, even if a judge is not strong pro 2A, but is willing to read our state constitution for what it says rather than what they think it should say, we are going to be much better off. No more replacing doomed Democratic Senate candidates after the law says it is not allowed, but then not allowing a special election for Governor when it would benefit Republicans. No more forcing the state to spend a half a BILLION dollars a year (or about $20,000 per student per year) on only 31 urban school districts that have abysmal records for educating children - ever wonder why your property taxes are so high in NJ? This is a major reason, your school district might get $600 per student a year in state aid, while the Abbot districts are getting over $20,000 per student of your tax dollars. These are a couple of some of the more egregious decisions that came from the NJ supreme Court, but the list goes on and on.
  14. THIS^^^^^^ For those of you who don't think this is a big deal, when was the last time a gun control measure landed on a NJ Governor's desk and was vetoed???????? - yeah, NEVER. If Corzine had won reelection we all might be considering moving to NY right now to escape the horrendous gun laws we would have here in NJ.........they would have been way worse than this vetoed nonsense. I'm not saying Christie is a gun owners new best friend, but he did the right thing on the bills that really mattered the most and should be given credit for doing so.
  15. I don't think it's to much of a stretch to imagine a "I don't like guns" judge in NJ to interpret the law that way
  16. For all this talk of getting Christie to start passing pro 2A bills in NJ is never going to happen unless the Republicans can take control of the Senate and Assembly in November. Turnout is expected to be light for the November election since the Democratic voters will be getting excited for the special October Senate election and may not turn out for the general election. GETTING EVERY PRO 2A SYMPATHETIC VOTER OUT TO THE POLES IN NOVEMBER IS ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL - ESPECIALLY IF YOU LIVE IN A DEMOCRATIC CONTROLLED DISTRICT. - Yes, I know I'm yelling, but that needs to be said loud and clear. If the Republicans can take control of the Senate, they will be able to approve Christie's Supreme Court nominees at will - this is huge, Christie will be able to change the court from a majority of liberal activist douche bag judges to a court where justices will actually read our state constitution and what was intended by it, when hearing cases. This will be a gift that keeps on giving long after Christie is gone.
  17. If you're going to use pavers, I would recommend making a box out of 6x6 landscape ties as others have mentioned. This will retain the pavers as well as provide an easy surface to secure the shed to. Spike the corners of the ties together and secure them to the ground with #4 (1/2 inch) rebar two feet long or so. Your pavers should be sitting on a Quarry Process (or Modified for you South Jersey folks) base 4-6" thick with an inch of coarse sand (concrete sand) over the QP. Putting down a sheet of woven Geotextile, like an Mirafi 200 equivalent, under your QP base is also not a bad idea. Spend your time getting the QP graded and compacted properly, this will make the end result be as good as it can be, you will not be able to fix dips and humps properly when you spread your sand layer. Keep your QP base 3" below the top of the ties (assuming your using 60mm [2&3/8"] thick pavers). The pavers will last longer than your shed, especially since they will not be exposed to the weather directly. You can use regular play sand as a joint sand, polymeric sand is not necessary for an "indoor" paver application.
  18. Why would you want to buy land out west or down south? If you have to fly there how much are you going to use it? I would look at buying land in PA, at least you could go out there on a regular basis.
  19. This is the best argument we can make to get the system reformed in a non Sweeney kind of way. Since NICS is now in effect, all this permitting nonsense is just needless expensive government bureaucracy that is wasting precious police resources.
  20. You're trying to apply logic where there is none to be found. If we only could get the various branches of government to apply logic to the existing archaic process we have now we'd be better off (never mind revamping everything to reflect that we're not in 1966 anymore). Do we really need to reinvestigate a person every time they apply for another batch of permits like they never applied before? - NO, but that's what the NJSP has mandated since around 2008.
  21. He will still need to fill out SP 016, it needs to be signed by the transferer.
