  1. More strict AWB, 7 round mag cap, NICS for ammo, FTF ban, outlaw preban mags, etc. Apparently this was hearsay from another forum. Though I see it as a likely direction.
  2. On a federal level I agree, but we are not so well represented here behind the lines. 18 new gun control bills introduced in the NJ legislature. http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php?/forum/69-nj-gun-laws/
  3. I am by no means an expert, and certainly not a lawyer. but when I did a FTF, the cars were parked so that the trunks were facing away from prying eyes and I showed the seller my info. The seller opened the case, I checked the action for safe, performed a basic function check, signed the CoE, gave cash, and started the drive home. If everyone there has a FPID, it is completely legal for those parties to posses the long gun outside of the exemptions in the legal code. It feels wrong, but AFAIK, completely legal. Of course the seller was known around the local forums so I was a little less apprehensive about doing it, but I would do it like that again. If you're really worried about it, do like the above posters mentioned and do it at a range. (Although I'm not sure how the property owner would feel about that).
  4. I believe the new magic number is going to be 7.
  5. Assuming of course that there are no repercussions, I am not at all entertaining suing anyone. Though I can articulate damages, there is certainly no evidence of such yet. Professional courtesy, having and maintaining a good reputation, very much affects my ability to earn. Aside from the fact that my corporation is rife with Liberals, and something like this certainly could have an effect on me from that perspective, the bigger concern is the violation of my privacy and the difficult position I was put in by having an unsolicited character reference requested in my name. I am more interested in communicating my concerns, and helping to educate my local officials in preventing this sort of breach of privacy the next time I have to go through this ordeal.
  6. Pizza, thanks for the response. I will update here after I have a chat with the CLEO.
  7. I think it's debatable. Everywhere else in this maze of laws, place of business has referred to a personally owned business. As in: e. Nothing in subsections b., c. and d. of N.J.S.2C:39-5 shall be construed to event a person keeping or carrying about his place of business, residence, premises other land owned or possessed by him, any firearm, or from carrying the same, in e manner specified in subsection g. of this section, from any place of purchase to his I'm fairly sure if I showed up to work with a pistol and a cop was there to witness I'd be screwed.
  8. Would anyone be able to point me in the direction of the law regarding the requirement of listing an employer? The NJSL site is horrid.
  9. I work at a large fortune 500 company. I received a phone call from the director of HR today asking me to come review some paperwork. I knew immediately what it was about, although I had not anticipated it. I then participated in a very uncomfortable few moments with the director while she explained that character references were not something that they do, and that I should have given them a heads up about the reference. I agree with both of these policies, especially the latter. I have never put someone's name down for a reference without first asking permission. I was embarrassed and explained that I did not expect the PD to do anything but verify my employment, and apologized for putting her in such a position. She filled out the form, made a copy, and said not to worry, she's fine with the permit. Since I did not expect that a reference letter was being sent, I only listed the company name, address, and main phone number. So this means that this reference letter made it's rounds as well. I can only imagine the amount of people who became privy to this personal information before it finally landed on the desk of HR. My understanding was that the PD could only verify your employment and that's it. Correct? I plan to send a letter to the CLEO explaining my concerns, should I also notify the NJSP FIU?
  10. Congrats on your permits and your new acquisition. The only thing missing from your story is the pics of the new rig. I applied for my FPID and first set of PPPs in Clifton a few years back. It took 4.5 months. I made many inquiries to the Clifton PD, NJSP FIU, and AG's office, only to get the run-around. Fed up, I had an attorney send the CLEO a polite letter. Miraculously they called to tell me my paperwork was ready within 24 hours of the CLEO receiving the letter. Imagine that. As an aside, I considered myself politically middle of the road up until I tried to exercise my rights and got stonewalled. I was completely ignorant of the state of affairs NJ has gotten itself into. This experience opened my eyes, it was my red pill, and I'm working on a plan to leave this God forsaken state for good.
  11. Is this rebar up the rifle range at Easton? Out at the 100yd mark?
  12. That "study" is rigged. Aside from the fact that this test is bogus without real boolets, where's the control? You know, the one where the shooter walks into a room full of unarmed people and kills them all? That report is not an experiment, it's a rigged show that was designed to further the anti-gun agenda. I'd like to know what Suzanna Hupp would have to say about this so called experiment. eta: I know we are all on the same page here, I am just commenting on it for posterity.
  13. http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2275515 Hmmm, any firemen on the forum?
  14. That could be said for any self defense situation. A gun without training is a liability. Any responsible person should be trained enough with their weapon to be able to draw from a holster and fire while seated. Somehow I doubt this guy took any special car jacking tacticool course. Good on him for being able to defend himself, but it's a crying shame we mere peasants are denied the same right.
  15. Now to figure out how in the hell I'm going to hang them.
  16. I run the Benchmade Mini-Grip D2 for EDC, and the Benchmade Full Size Grip D2 otherwise. If I could do it again, I probably would have opted for the 154CM steel as opposed to the D2. The D2 is great and holds a good edge for a long time, but when it comes to sharpening day I would appreciate the softer 154CM. I'm trying to find an excuse to buy the BM mini barrage AO knife, but I just can't justify it at the moment.
  17. 12" QTY 2 = $152.00 TTL $152.00 No shipping required.
  18. I come in just under $7K, water and sewer separate. Garbage pickup once a week, leaves whenever they get to it, and they took grass pick up away last year. Yay government!
  19. I do not support any laws that restrict inalienable rights. That includes NICS checks. It is disheartening (though no longer surprising) to find that so many gun owners support federally mandated background checks as a requirement to exercise a constitutionally protected right. edit: grammar
  20. Did I miss something? It's been a few years since I applied for a PPP, but I don't remember an employment verification requirement??? Also, anyone have a link to the thread in question regarding the pay stub?
  21. I was very involved with the org for a few years. There were a lot of good ideas being implemented there. A lot of the execution fell short though as there was minimal interest from the membership. I was pretty close with the president and a few of the others before my life got a bit crowded (marriage, baby, work, etc.). They are good people, fighting the good fight with not a lot of help. I wish I had more time to commit to fight with them because they are, if nothing else, committed to the cause.
