  1. Welcome to the club! Watch-out for Smokin .50, he is a hell of a shot with that custom revolver! I'm glad they "make" you observe/particpate in different events to become eligible to become a full-fledged member. Got to meet Dave (Smokin .50) and a good group of people Friday night and learned just how bad I was with a handgun from 25 yards from odd shooting positions. Did an outdoor steel shoot the next day at the outdoor range. It was HOT outside, but still had fun. Next Sunday is another pair of outdoor events. I will do the shotgun thing this time around. I think they also have a steel event that day. Hope you guys abd gals had a good time at Harrys. I was roasting all day at the track. Maybe I can make it next time.
  2. I took it apart today. All three gas port holes are clear. I don't get the settings. Yes, they have a 1 and 2 position. The MD Arms aluminum piston (or whatever you want to call it) sits behind the original Saiga piece that unscrews. All I see those two settings change is pre-load on the MD Arms piece. If I screw it all the way in that gives me setting #1. If I depress the pin and unscrew it 1/2 a turn I get setting #2. I can certainly unscrew it more and let it click and lock back into #1 or #2 as I unscrew it further. Guess that gives you a 3, 4, etc...... setting. So......... I put it back together set at #1. I will run some buckshot through it during the week sometime. I did not buy this for birdshot so I don't care if it doesn't work well with 7 1/2. As long as buck shot cycles the gun I'm good to go! Wanna tell me exactly what I am changing when I depress the pin and unscrew that outer piece? Anthony, what were you polishing inside? I don't mind taking apart the gas system, but I didn't want to touch that trigger group underneath it. I know my luck..............
  3. Thanks Anthony and crew, I knew you guys could help! Gun is brand-new from MD Arms with their gas plug that I installed. I did nothing to it except for their aluminum plug and cleaned it. Today was the first day out with it. I did not buy it for shooting light loads, just figured I would try it out for the heck of it. I wanted to go knock the steels over with the stock, would have been faster...... Anyway, just got back with a few boxes of buck shot to run through it. I will check the gas ports and see what setting I have the thing on, I think I left it on #1. Msy need to make a road trip to see you Anthony, would like to get this thing to feel smoother.
  4. You all need a little more squeeze........... <<<<
  5. Tried using my Saiga12 for an outdoor match today, would not cycle, I was using 7 1/2 target load which is my normal Trap Shooting stuff. Does that type of load not have enough powder to cycle the action? Any ideas what to try? Should I just get some buck shot or something else and see if that works?
  6. Jon, let me know if you need someone else to buy bullets. I am susposed to get a nice used Dillon reloader and may start doing some. I use a lot of different calibers and have been saving all the brass from our revolvers.
  7. I really feel for you. I see this shyt all the time. New Yorkers move here and think the world is theirs to ride their damn quads and motorcycles in. I can't publish what we used to do to those people on here................... Grew-up across the street from you in Millstone Township. They actually have pretty liberal discharge laws there too, never would have thought Jackson would also be so open. I can shoot on my parents property, but my father doesn't want to hear the noise anymore, and my mother can't really hear so it wouldn't bother her.
  8. I have been saving the shells. A friend gave me a reloading station. Now I need some supplies and learn how to use it. BTW: Found another Trap Shooting Club named Mallard Trap Club in Monroe, not too far from here. They do Wednesday nights and Saturdays. So, between them and Citizens on Tuesday nights and Sunday afternoons I can certainly get a LOT of Trap Shooting in! Ugh, the revolver disease. Going to buy another one tonight, a nice old 610............ When does it end?
  9. If you don't want to rent a Bobcat, have a weekend party for all your fellow shooting friends, plenty of food and beer, and get it dug-out. Tell them they are all welcome to come back the following weekend to use it, no beer though.
  10. Thanks Jon. We are almost out of the pink shotgun shells you sold me. Time to go buy 10 more cases of shells when I find them on sale somewhere. This 30 day rule really irks me. Well, it gives my wallet more time to recover between purchases (sometimes). Gotta find a cure for this revolver disease.
  11. Yeah Paul, and those are actually clips. It really bugs me when people call magazines clips, don't know why......... Pizza Bob, good luck! I have about 40 or so moon clips for my .45 ACP that came with a 625 I just got. I may have to try one of these events with it. Digging the wood and dowels you have there, let us know how it works. I went to an event last Saturday at Old Bridge and there were two guys there with revolvers. The guy I was hangin' with was shooting .357 Magnums and using speed loaders which as you know are nowhere near as fast to load/unload as our moon clips. He had fun though, I didn't see who the other guy was, just saw there were two entered in the revolver class. What wheelgun are you using?
  12. I read the NJSP rules about buying firearms. I have a question about handgun purchases though. I can purchase a handgun from a private individual as long as I have my FID, Identification (NJ Driver Lic for example), and a valid Handgun Purchase Permit, correct? As long as the individual is the legal owner (how am I to really know), has Identification (NJ DL or similar), and the Model # and Serial # of the handgun is put down on the Handgun Purchase Permit and the sellers home address matches their Identification, everything is good to go? Most of my stuff is done through FFL's which make it easy but we have to pay NIC's each time. I have bought long guns through private sale and all we need is the COE, Identification, FID's, etc...., no NIC's. Is NIC's only involved when purchasing firearms through FFL's? What's a hangun? A misspelled handgun, sorry.
  13. Ha, I am far from being a youngster but age is certainly a relative thing. I am a history buff too, so this interests me. At a "young" 45 years of age I'll do some crawling, I've done worse!
  14. I brought my little Ruger 10/22 rifle with me last month when I joined. I shot 50 rounds before they realized I was finished. That little 22 made no noise, especially with all the handguns going off! Still have my target hanging in the garage, everything high and slightly right. Didn't realize my rear sight folds-down for some odd reason and I couldn't see those itty-bitty bullet holes from 25 yards away!
  15. Now that's the info I was looking-for, thankyou very much! When I had gone to their site I found very little info and actually saw something about libraries also. Click on the link in the first post up top and then click on the information link, you'll see what I mean. There was info about when and where the event is, but no information about WHAT the actual event was all-about. Now we can finally see what it is we are missing-out on. I will keep an eye on these events, looks like something very useful to do.
  16. Yes, thanks for the info Jimmy. Not at all what I thought it was.
  17. Ok Gregg, sine you really want to do one maybe you can tell us what it is? Since the one listed was filled I guess they really don't need to spread the word on what an Appleseed shoot really is. I found nothing on their website to explain what it is they do. I would think it's for rimfire ammo and kids, but I can (and probably am) completely wrong.
  18. If a BG breaks into my house I will ask my wife to shoot him/her. Out of all of our guns only two are in her name. The police can take her two and leave mine alone...........
  19. My wife finds it funny that everytime we go to/from a range I actually drive the exact speed limit..........
  20. What is it? I went to their info link but it doesn't tell anything about the event.
  21. Why would you want to run your 625 without the moonclips? When I was looking for a revolver that could use the same ammo as my 1911 and finally found a nice used one, I was really glad when I found it uses moonclips! I finally get to pick it up this week.
  22. How many people have seen this mysterious "crud" left-over in their revolvers? I have shot over 100 rounds of .38 Special Wad Cutters through our 686 and then followed them with some .357 Magnums. We have never, ever had an issue. I don't know why our wad cutters are so darn smoky when we shoot them, our "normal" .38 Special and .357 Magnums don't make that kind of smoke.
  23. My wife turned me into a revolver guy........ I have a Beretta 92FS and a 96FS, a Springfield Armory 1911, but my revolvers are becoming my favorites. Getting more PP's to buy more revolvers!
  24. You better call your FFL and make sure he is willing to hold it for you for that long, some of these guys do run out of room in their safes.............. So, if he is cool with it do it. I do it all the time to my FFL, he still talks to me.
  25. You're saying Shore Shot has a Siaga-12 for sale with a pistol grip? The shotguns I saw there for sale with either a pistol grip or a folding stock were pumps. Pretty sure any semi-auto shotgun in NJ can not have a pistol grip.
