  1. Certainly an eye-opener, glad I spent the time to watch it. I have friends on the job and their job is to get confessions from guilty people. It's just a job, nothing personal. So, the moral of the story is, shut your mouth! Very rarely will you ever be questioned by the police if you had absolutely nothing to do with the matter at-hand. How else would they even know to talk to you? To the OP, you are in an interesting situation. Strange that the people in charge of allowing you to purchase a handgun allowed you to buy the next one too quickly. They won't be in trouble, it is the people of NJ that wish to own guns that are guilty until proven innocent. Sorta like the defendant sitting next to the defense attorney. The jury looks at the defendant as guilty until he/she is proven innocent. Very interesting video.
  2. Do you know the first name of Detective Herbst?
  3. Okay, today I dropped-off my wifes last reference at the local police station, so now all her paperwork is in. Did the finger printing last Friday. From the time she filled-out the inital application for her FID and P2P (2) her references had their paperwork within 3 days (two references and her employer). We "cheated" since one of her references works at the station and the Detective handling both our cases is a friend. Now the clock starts. I didn't keep-track with my initial starting date, I am going on week four though. At least we can keep-track of hers.
  4. When my FID and P2P gets here (hopefully soon) I am getting a 96FS INOX. I was shooting the 90 Two last week and it was fine, but I like the .40 a bit better. My friend has a .40 Block, but both he and I loved the 90 Two our other friend brought with him. We also has the Cx4 (rifle) to shoot that day, it is a cool and relatively inexpensive rifle. I am also looking at the Taurus P92 (9mm series). They do have a really nice-looking all metal handgun, actually, several of them. This will be a 3rd or 4th purchase (unless we use my wifes P2P to get one.) There is another forum I am on and most seem to trash-talk the Taurus guns to no end. Shot my friends Judge with .410 shot sheel and .45 caliper and it was awesome!
  5. We were shooting the 90 TWO and Px4 Storm yesterday. It was cool loading-up 6 mags and popping them into whichever gun we felt like shooting at the time. I'm not sure which magazines fit both guns though. I really liked the sites on the 90 TWO.
  6. As mentioned above, DO NOT listen to your LEO buddy for advice, YOU are the one that is responsible for knowing the laws. I happen to know some LEO's that do not entirely know the NJ laws, that really suprises me. I was recently informed that I can but long guns (rifles and shotguns) without an FID. He was very suprised when I told him I can't. He was going to check with his Sergeant and let me know what he had to say. I'm curious how far up the chain of command this will go. I can't divulge my friends name or where he works, it isn't local to me though.
  7. I shot teh 90 TWO yesterday at BA, it was a nice handgun, put 50 rounds through it myself, not sure what teh guns owner and my friend put through it, but we went through a LOT. I still plan on buying a 96FS INOX though, 9mm is just not enough for me. Seems like it's April Fools Day! I know I am typing T H E correctly!
  8. I was watching two people shooting a handgun with a laser on it. The one guy was pretty darn steady wtih his shots, very little movement. The other guy, well, I thought Ray Charles must have been shooting. After every shot that laser was dancing all over the place! Maybe the laser is a usefull device to have so people can see how much they are really moving after every shot, but I wouldn't want to use it for aiming. When the batteries puke what do you do?
  9. You're kinda right about that. Some of these places make it seem likes it a priveledge to walk into their store to buy a gun. I'll gladly take my business elsewhere. I do know people that are FFL's so I can always mail-order what I want. Sometimes it is nice to be able to hold it first, but whatever. I certainly won't tolerate attitudes while asking questions. If my money isn't green enough there are PLENTY of places that will gladly take it.
  10. Very true! Thankfully I still have Drag Racing and tennis to keep me busy. I could be helping the economy purchasing guns but the state doesn't want me to spend anything yet............
  11. Not sure about Dick's, but Sayreville Sportsman had them last time I was there.
  12. Thanks! Yes, he told me the ammo he buys is cheap and it's corrosive, thus the need to clean thouroughly after shooting. I plan on making the trek to LI once we have decent enough weather to go fire these myself. I am really digging the cost to purchase and the cost of the ammo. Seems like a good bargain to me. Can buy both these rifles plus a LOT of ammo for less than a lot of the typical AR15's go for. It may not look like the AR's, but a 7.62 x 54 round has to be a blast!
  13. I have money in one pocket and no FID or P2P in the other yet............
  14. A guy I know from Long Island has a Saiga IZ 132 and a RD PSL 54C, both with 10 mag clips. He told me the prices and what ammo costs him, I couldn't believe it! If these guns are legit in NY I would think they are legit here also. He told me the ammo he uses is steel and you HAVE to clean the guns after shooting, other than that, he loves them. Anyone know anything about either of them? He said the Saiga can not be made into a full-auto, he wasn't 100% sure of the RD. He bought both rifles in NY thru an FFL.
  15. Welcome to the forum. I just happened to go to high school there so I am one of the few that actually know where you're from.
  16. I don't have any yet, but I will. What suprises me was to find out what friends of mine have and I never knew about it! Seems like guns are "taboo" in this state of ours and those that own them don't really talk about it. Sorta like teenage kids having sex, we all know they're doing it but no one (parents) want to talk about it........... Well, this is one parent that will (and does) talk to his kids about these "taboo" subjects, I don't want to be a grandparent yet, and I want to own a LOT of guns!
  17. Yup, that's the one. I really like the looks of the gun, but I have never held it nor shot it yet to see if I would really like to own in.
  18. My wife has done more shooting than me! PS: jOn, she is also a gearhead and has her own race car too!
  19. I was looking at something very similar from Beretta but it was SS. Bet it's the same model. Now, if I ever get my permits I can go back and actually touch it!
  20. I was able to change the amount of pistol purchase permits with no problem about a week after handing the paperwork in.
  21. I'm in South River right over the bridge. I have gone to the Brick Armory. I plan on going to Jackson with some friends that belong there. I have no immediate plans since I am still waiting for my FID and my P2P's. I shot my friends Sig .223 at the BA and liked it. Had one FTF on it. I didn't know what happened since I am brand-new at this. I put the rifle down, waited for the guy next to us to stop shooting his cannon, and then told my friend what happened. He showed me how to clear it.
  22. Ok, gotcha. I saw something similar at the BA, can get crowded really fast in there. Two people per lane is fine, after that you run out of room. Can't wait till we can go outside where it won't be so darn noisy, confined, and filled with smoke!
  23. I am two minutes from them also. I talked to Dave a few times as well as the other gentleman there, don't recall his name. They were both friendly and helpful. Until I get my FID I can't touch anything yet......... They still have at least 10 SIG's there for less than $1200. As far as prices I have no idea yet, still new to this entire thing. Some of the handguns seemed expensive but that could simply be me, maybe some of them actually cost $1500+. I won't be spending that much though.
  24. Easy now, we all have to start somewhere. I did pretty good the first time I went. Never pointed the guns at anything I didn't want to shoot (which were the targets downrange). When one rifle didn't fire I put it down and told my friend what was wrong. It was his stuff, I had no clue what happened, just didn't fire when I pulled the trigger. Found that a round did not load properly into the chamber, he fixed it, gave it back to me and I emptied the magazine. I never hit anything but the targets that day but I did get hit with a casing from the guy next to us.
