  1. You say you're a responsible person, but all 4 of those tickets represent irresponsibility. You've been 18 for over 2 months but you've yet to update your provisional license, and you don't have the required decal on your license plate, if you ever had it at all. Not to mention you knowingly drive a car with illegally tinted windows. Don't want to judge you, especially since I'm only a couple years older than you. But 75 in a 25? Yikes. Sounds to me like you'll be paying plenty of lawyers, fines, and inflated insurance for a long time. Long enough that you can put the idea of a gun collection aside for now.
  2. I would imagine he means Washington Twp in Gloucester COUNTY, as there is more than one Washington Twp in NJ.
  3. My old man hangs out at a coffee shop full of cops, prison guards, public service guys, etc. There's one prison guard in there who is apparently disliked by EVERY one of his coworkers. Some of them have told my old man, "If there was ever a riot, no one would come to that guy's rescue." So, if you do take the job, make sure you play nice with the other kids

  5. My family shoots shotgun more than anything, usually sporting clays at Lehigh Valley. For Christmas this year, my mom wants to get my dad a cart for pushing the guns & ammo around. I have never really had any interest in these things - I like carrying my gun and ammo bag around. So I don't have the first clue about them. Can anyone recommend a cart? Looking for something basic, no bells and whistles, just something that can hold a couple guns and boxes of ammo. I have heard and read that Rugged Gear makes a good product, but that is the extent of my knowledge. Thanks guys.
  6. First gun I ever bought, I filled out all the forms on a Friday night after NICS had shut down, and they ran the NICS check the next day while I was home and I picked it up Monday, I believe.
  7. You're right, Dicks usually does carry Mossbergs. Would I buy from them? No. I'd rather give an actual gun shop the business. But that's your call. As Jon said, the price request is your best bet. It's a really helpful tool.
  8. The Beretta A300 Outlander has finally hit stores? Might have to go give it a look. I've been eyeing it since early summer.
  9. A reporter from the Star Ledger tweeted about 45 minutes ago that the odd/even rationing does not apply to cans/canisters. I guess you can go fill those up as you please. Also, the odd/even rules do not go into effect until noon tomorrow, so I suppose you can try to get gas in the morning no matter what your odd/even situation is.
  10. From NJ.com's twitter account: @njdotcom: It's the last number in your plate, not last character. So XXX-9XX is odd, XXX-6XX is even. All letters? Odd.
  11. Every plate in NJ ends in a letter, unless its personalized, as far as I know. That's why you use the last number on your plate, because I believe no plate in NJ actually ends in a number. I could be wrong though.
  12. It's not the last character in your plate, it's the last number, wherever that falls. So if your plate is A11-AAA, you're odd, but if it's A22-AAA, you're even. At least that's how I understand it. NJ.com clarified it on twitter a short time ago.
  13. Can anyone shed some light on the difference between these two models? The Quark Pro QP2A-X - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0400AG0528&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleMKP&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleMKP-_-pla-_-NA-_-NA The Quark Pro QP2L-X - http://www.etoolscity.com/foursevens-quark-pro-qp2l-x-flashlight.html The latter puts out more lumens (360 vs. 280), and it lasts about 4x longer than the former when set on maximum output. I assume that's because the A model takes AA batteries and the L model takes CR123A's. So then why is the model that puts out more light and lasts longer a couple dollars cheaper?
  14. These are all great suggestions, guys. Looks like I have a lot of options. Learning a lot about lights that I didn't know, too. And a special thanks to SgtToadette for that extremely informative post. Something like that is just what I needed to help me make a decision.
  15. All right, so I've been meaning to ask this anyway, but with the storm coming next week, it's even more relevant now. Been without a good flashlight for a while now. I use my iPhone flashlight app in a pinch, but I need a legit one with a strong beam, like the ones you see on TV when the cops are scouring the empty warehouse for the bad guy. I don't want a big bulky one, I'd rather have one I can easily handle with one hand. Like I said, I'm interested in a strong beam, and also battery life and durability. So anyone that loves their flashlight at home or work, I'm all ears. Thanks guys.
  16. My Remington 1100 is fantastic. And it's not expensive. For more money and I guess a slightly better gun, you could go with a Beretta. Maybe the 391 Urika 2. But as others have said, how a gun fits you is a critical component.
  17. Having dealt with Eagleton at Rutgers myself, and going to several lectures given by their polling director, I would say they are totally legit and follow all the standard protocol regarding polling. They didn't just stand out on the street and hand out surveys here. There's a specific process involved. Whatever the poll says, more often than not that IS indicative of the general population's feeling.

    Recoil

I think shooting trap/skeet/clays with a short barrel is a bad idea, especially for someone who has never done it before. But thats just my opinion. As others have said, it's not so much barrel length that contributes to recoil, it's the weight.
  19. Range 14. Do a search for it here on the forum, there's a bunch of different threads on it.
  20. I bought my first shotgun there. I'm sorry I did. I actually love the gun, but they only had a handful of shotguns for sale, and they were all overpriced. Not to mention the sales people came across as if I was wasting their time. Wish I had explored my options more, but it was literally the day after I picked up my FID and I was antsy. Find somewhere else, especially if you don't know what you want. They don't have nearly enough to go there just to "browse." The rest of the store is nice, though, and they seem to have a ton of fishing gear.
  21. I laminated mine myself, and then when that fell off, the people at Caso's offered to laminate it for me when I went there to buy a gun. Was very pleased with that service.
  22. Still further from me than the one in Hamburg. But I'm happy for all you in South Jersey who will have a much closer option. As for us Northern NJ folk, business as usual...
  23. I've been wanting this one for a while. The price seems too good to be true. I handled one a couple months ago and it felt great, but the store only had .270 and 30-06. I'm looking for a .308. Anyway, I'd love to hear reviews of this gun that anyone has to offer. Thanks guys.
  24. Own both. Like both. For a not so big price difference, i'd go with the 500. If its main purpose is HD, the tang safety on the 500 is a big enough reason to spend the extra cash, in my opinion.
  25. How was the crowd? What time did you go? Do you guys really think next Sunday will be less crowded because of the NFL starting up? I mean, I find myself saying, "No way I'm missing out on Week 1 to go shooting," so I guess other people are thinking the same...
