  4. On a different note... A man takes his hamster to the vet, and after a short look at the creature the vet pronounces it dead. Not happy with the vet's diagnosis the man asks for a second opinion. The vet gives a whistle and in strolls a Labrador dog. The dog nudges the hamster around with its nose and sniffs it a couple of times before shaking his head. "There" says the vet,” Your hamster is dead". Sti...ll not happy the man asks for a third opinion. The vet opens the back door and in bounds a cat. The cat jumps onto the table and looks the hamster up and down for a few minutes before looking up and shaking it's head. "It's definitely dead sir", says the vet. Convinced, the man inquires how much he owes. "That will be $ 1000, please". "A $ 1000 just to tell me my hamster is dead" fumes the man. "Well", says the vet, "There's my diagnosis, the lab report and the cat scan".
  5. THAT LAMP IS AT SPENCERS!! I saw it there the other day.
  6. Hows the rock river arms elite operator? I'm thinking about picking one up in the near future.
  7. It looks similar to that of an 870 police magnum. For comparrison,
  8. Maybe I want to keep away from the ladder truck. And while EMS is fun, firefighters get to do a whole lot more rescue training and oppurtunities then EMT's.
  9. From what I gathered I think the manufacutres dont recomend reppeling from ladder trucks because they were not designed for that purpose (extra weight pulling down on the top of the ladder might cause it to not function properly). I know at one point firefighters would climb up oneside of the ladder and then down the other. But in todays age with OSHA and PEOSHA I am just cautious with doing something like that. Next time I see one of my chiefs I'll ask him. Honestly I think ladder trucks should be rated for reppelling for situations that require them. Edit: spell check
  10. That is some cool training, I love reppelling and rope rescue. Im not trying to diss you but I thought reppelling down a ladder truck was a no-no. I may be wrong but my station doesn't have one so I'm not well versed in that area.
  11. A Lawyer who was cross-examining the local coroner, asked: “Before you signed the death certificate had you taken the man’s pulse?” “No,” the coroner replied. “Well, then, did you listen for a heart beat?” The coroner answered, “No.” “Did you check for respiration? Breathing?”, asked the attorney. ... ... Again the coroner replied, “No.” “Ah,” the attorney said, “So when you signed the death certificate you had not taken any steps to make sure the man was dead, had you?” The coroner rolled his eyes, and shot back “Counselor, at the time I signed the death certificate the man’s brain was sitting in a jar on my desk. But I can see your point. For all I know he could be out there practicing law somewhere.”
  12. Welcome to the community.
  13. I'll actually do that with my rifle sometimes, i'll leave one in the chamber so it will continue to cycle. I'm not saying the people in the movies intentionally leave one in the chamber, but its nice to think they do
  14. I agree with johnoutdoors, potential neighbors who have been in the area a while are the biggest wealth of information and will tell you a lot more then the home owner will.
  15. Just curious and straying from the main topic but since were talking about the academy, how much in class room stuff was there compared to hands on and physical training? If things keep going well I expect to be in a SLEO II academy within the next few months.
  16. Welcome to the community and thank you for your service.
  17. Nice build, how are the Magpul MBUSs. When the money comes available I'm considering doing something similar.
