  1. Guiro - what else is needed to shoot at colliers mills?
  2. Just a quick question / request for input here. Do you keep a SHTF bag ready to go? Im wondering what types of bags people use. I've heard some us regular looking backpacks as to not "advertise" that they are carrying prep stuff. Others use military surplus or tactical looking bags. What's your preference?
  3. Anselmo - I'm not suggesting that they will be made illegal. I do agree with you that legislators are now "talking the talk" - but most likely nothing new will happen. However, there are some that are not comforted by this and will go out and make purchases. I'm merely trying to stoke a conversation on how people can with limited budgets can get into the world of AR ownership.
  4. Many around the country are buying AR rifles because of the upcoming election and recent events that may spark the anti-gun control debate. While some may have the financial resources to go out and drop around 1k or more on a gun - some may not have the funds. What do you recommend for those that do not have the money yet would like to get an AR before its too late? Would getting a stripped lower be a smart move? My thinking is that you can later get all the other parts necessary since the lower is the serialized part. Just trying to help out those that say they want an AR and can't afford it. Anyone finding any shops in NJ with good deals on ARs?
  5. This dude makes me sick. I wish reporters would really educate themselves before spewing this garbage. We concentrate on the tool, not the crazy bastard that used it. What if he would have plowed into the building with a car filled with explosive. Would we're be scrutinizing the make and model - arguing that the only reason for that model car was to carry bombs? Ugh.
  6. I too recently had my first shotgun experience! I am looking at getting the 870 express tactical. Great shooting gun.
  7. Hi all, Looking to get my next gun for range/competitive use. I have been shooting for about a year and a half. I own a G19 Gen 4 and I love it. Great gun, tons of fun at the range. Looking to get a second gun and hoping it will fill these roles: *Range gun *Competitive gun - trying to get involved in IDPA *Possibly an HD gun. I like the 9mm round for cost, ease of shooting and my G19 is chambered in it. (Although I do plan to get a glock, HK or 1911 in .45 ACP in the fall) So I've been looking at the G17 and the G34. Trying to decide between the two. Any thoughts? Im trying to pick up the gun in the next few weeks. Waiting on a permit and for my LGS to get it in stock. I qualify for the blue label program so I am at the mercy of the shop that is authorized to deal in blue label glocks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  8. I took mine at GFH up in Cedar Grove. They have a location in S. Jersey as well. They got everything squared away for me real quick. Got mine in 3 weeks.
  9. And now the "news" begins with the gun control debate... Just saw one on twitter say... "outside of police & military, who really needs to "bear arms" anymore? Another absurd example today that we have an amendment which needs to be addressed" First off - we do not know if the guy's guns were obtained legally or illegally. The guy was clearly bent on carrying out this insane plot. The guy was going to carry out this act - he was going to get the guns one way or another. Had someone been armed with a CCW - maybe this would be a different story. Should we have banned airplanes after 9/11? This is a horrible, horrible event, and my thoughts are with those affected. I wish the news agencies would simply report the facts and not use this as another opportunity to sling some gun control bs. I also wish they would act informed and speak correctly. I've heard references to "Sniper Shotgun" "military automatic pistol" "bullet proof suit" and "devastating hollow-point rounds" My 2 cents...
  10. I too have a G19 Gen 4. all the latest parts and a Feb 2012 test fire date. First 500 rounds or so was Remington UMC 115 gr. Had the occasional brass to face/head. The next 500 rounds and counting have been Lawman 115gr. No Problems. I just placed an order for 500 rounds of Lawman 124gr to match with my new HD rounds (Gold Dot 124gr +P) I'll report back with how the 124gr fires, but I suspect it will work just fine. Go with the G19 Gen 4 and a healthy amount of Lawman or American Eagle 115gr and have a blast!! Be safe.
  11. That's why I figured I would start using the Speer Lawman in 124gr as my range ammo as its built to closely mimic SD/HD ammo in similar weights.
  12. Hi all, Need a bit of advice. I have been running 115 gr Lawman ammo through my G19 for the few month that I've had it. No problems. I'm going to start using the GDHP 124gt +P for HD. Looking to place another order for range ammo. Should I spend the extra couple bucks and go with the 124gr Lawman now or do you think I'd be ok with the 115gr?
  13. Stupid question, but here goes. The 3-gun match in August. Mandatory to have all three guns? Or can I just shoot pistol?
  14. Don't worry. 12ga will be around the corner. As will a .40 pistol to go along with the 2 9mm Damn expensive hanging out with you guys
  15. SOLD on the AR!!!! Going to buy a crap ton of that ammo now. Haha.
  16. Everyone makes great points. I'm thinking maybe I get a 12ga now as well as a stripped lower. Then I can take my time and get what I want as I need it. Would also make the most sense financially. I'm just worried I'll have trouble building my first AR.
  17. Looking to make my next gun purchase. I currently have a G19 and a .22 Marlin. Debating between picking up an 12ga Remington 870 or a AR of some sort. Looking to use simply expand my collection. Would probably use for range/plinking, SHTF and HD if needed. Which would you get first?
  18. Thanks for the good word. Let's hope this is the first step of many in the right direction.
  19. So apparently it is expected to go to the full house for a vote next week. If approved - they could go to court over the documents.
  20. BREAKING NEWS: House committee holds AG Holder in contempt for failing to turn over Justice documents in Fast and Furious case.
  21. I got one a few months back. Not regretting it one bit. I've put about 1,000 rounds through it. Not one malfunction. I am loving every bit of it. Get it.
  22. Thank you for the review. It was extremely helpful. I'm hoping to take that course soon up at GFH
  23. Just wondering if it is legal. A lot of the talk on here is if you can simply carry the knife - but I haven't seen much discussion on if it can be used in a self defense situation. As BlueFish pointed out - many LEOs that I've dealt with - many even outside of my jurisdiction - have said they would not bother me for possessing the knife due to the nature of my job. I've just never heard of many self defense situations where the victim Defended himself with a knife outside the home wherever they may be. At the end of the day - if it came to a life or death situation with no other choice - i think id use what I had on me.
