  1. I've pretty much narrowed my choice for my next gun down to a .45, and the two which stand out most to me are the Glock 21/41 and HK45 with LEM trigger. I'm looking for feedback on the "shootability" of these two guns, which I'll define as the cumulative effect of various traits which enhance or worsen the interaction between shooter and gun during the firing process. Any hands on experience with either gun is hugely helpful, positive or negative. For the sake of this discussion, price is irrelevant.
  2. I dun just use Trijicons. Training like you fight or something like that. *shrug*

  4. It wasn't all that bad. The movie is what you'd expect. Basically 5 or so stories of people affected by various gun related incidents (accidents with kids, mass shootings, suicide, ect.). Sprinkled between were various statistics about gun violence and clips of politicians and NRA speakers. Afterwards was a very brief Q&A. Once that finished up, about half the people left and the other half jumped on Glenn. I tried to talk with a few people and was able to have some decent conversations, though often answering a question would lead to 3 more accusatory questions about a similar but different issue. Jumping into the middle of an anti-gun event is obviously going to ruffle a few feathers, but I thought I was able to have some good discussion and hope I changed some opinions.
  5. I honestly dislike the conversation about what kind of lube to use much more than the 9mm vs .45 debate. Especially now more than ever because of the controversy surrounding FireClean. I've used Militec-1. I tried it on a whim and it's worked for me. Is it the best? Hell if I know. The fundamental concept of lubricant hasn't changed and whether formula x out performs formula y seems more like a pissing contest than anything. I'll try a different lube with every purchase and I doubt I'll notice a difference. I've never heard of a gun which failed because the user used the wrong flavor of lube.
  6. Glad you took a sip of the PPQ koolaid, Howard! I recommend changing out the stock sights. I've used Meprolights and since replaced them with Trijicon HD night sights which are vastly superior. I've only ever had the slide not lock back maybe 3 times in about 4k rounds (probably more). Basically a non issue. I also just got some Talon grips in the mail and plan on installing them soon. Might upgrade my baseplates with some Taylor Freelance ones, too. Great choice you'll enjoy the hell out of it.
  7. Republicans can't block anything. Obama still has another year in office. It's a no brainer he will appoint.
  8. Of course this happens when the Republicans have absolute garbage going into the nomination. Uhg...
  9. I guess you'll just have to get used to the PPQ XD
  10. Anybody refusing to have a discussion is just as bad as soemone who isn't willing to listen.
  11. As a lefty, I'm preferential to handguns with symmetrical controls. The P99, PPQ classic and HK VP9 are really the only pistol I know of which are actually ambidextrous. I've owned and shot the PPQ since it was introduced and am thoroughly satisfied with the design. I do have gripes with the fact that the PPQ M2 even exists because it screwed early adopters with respect to mag availability. Granted, you can use later gen P99 mags (black follower), but you're still looking at $40 plus on a really good day. This is where having a 15 round standard capacity is great, because I can clean my mags when I drop them in dirt. Had the VP9 been available at the time I was making the decision to purchase the PPQ, I would have likely gone with the VP9 for mag availability and design dedication alone. I also happen to prefer the stock sights on the VP9 better. From what I've shot of Golf Battery's VP9, I noticed it fit my hand better and shot a hair flatter. I'm still so used to the trigger in my PPQ that I prefer it, but the VP9 is great, too. Keep in mind that the trigger reset on the PPQ is so freaking short it's insane. Make sure you follow through with your trigger press to avoid bumping it unintentionally. I've done it twice in the ~3k rounds I've put through it. You really can't go wrong with either gun, which probably isn't what you want to hear. If you care about celebrity endorsements, Larry Vickers specifically called the VP9 the best stock striker gun available, citing HK testing protocols. He also mentioned the PPQ as being a good option as well. I have never experienced or seen a malfunction of either gun. If you have any questions about the PPQ or lefty handguns feel free to ask.
  12. It kinda bugs me when a conversation of durability comes up and people chime in saying "works perfect for me" without any mention of how much use/abuse they put the gear through. I'm am Aimpoint guy, but I can't comment on its durability when I have never done anything but pamper it. Everything works until it doesn't. The question is at what point do things stop working and how well do they perform along the way. Clearly, EOtechs are having a hard time justifying their gear as world class, which isn't really all that surprising to me. Do they have their pros? Sure. So does taping a toilet paper roll to the top of the gun. Lastly thank you Shawn for the good laugh. I almost cried.
  13. He definitely has. His Facebook is getting blown up right now. I agree that people over think the whole lube thing. It's chemistry not alchemy.
  14. Took the words right out of my mouth.
  15. So to make it breif: Say I don't own nor desire to own a motor vehicle. How I to transport my guns/ammo to the range? Can I walk it? Take public transport? Ride a bike? Legally, how can I go to my "local" range and abide by the statutes without driving?
  16. I can when I find the time, might be a day or two.
  17. Awesome. That works out great since I need to zero my Aimpoint. What gun you gonna bring? VP9?
  18. Removing "god" doesn't do any harm and appeals to a wider audience.
  19. I like S&B because the gold boolits look cooler in my mags. Also runs well enough for plinking. Then again, most factory ammo is, for all intents and purposes, the same.
  20. So, uh, what time am I supposed to be there? I see it nowhere on the site.
  21. No. I'm just saying it's not the best tactic for persuasion.
