I live just east in Sewell/ Mantua. Wenonah is disbanding the police force in a few weeks and Mantua will police the town with shared police services. Wenonah locals are not happy but it will be a tax savings. Wenonah is a nice small town and has easy access to Philadelphia during non rush hour traffic.

zoning question relating to opening an ffl
Shooter14 replied to whiteout's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
When we develop in NJ.... we like to meet with the economic development person for the town or Mayor. Most of the time they are pro business and can be helpful. Before I would spend money on an attorney, I would get the feel of the town. Because the use is not specifically permitted by name, I think the below paragraph would kick in......Towns need revenue any business helps! To obtain a use variance, i.e., approval for a use not specifically permitted under the zoning ordinance, an applicant needs to demonstrate that its proposed project meets both the "positive" and "negative" criteria required by the Municipal Land Use Law. To satisfy the positive criteria, an applicant must show that its proposed use is “inherently beneficial,” or that the site in question is peculiarly suited for the proposed use. Satisfaction of the negative criteria requires the applicant to demonstrate that the proposed use will not pose a substantial detriment to the public good and will not substantially impair the intent and purpose of the master plan and zoning ordinance -

You will most likely need a zoning variance from the town. If you look in the township zoning ordinances, they should have something on retail businesses and permitted uses. Do you own the building or lease? -

Carry at family business?
Shooter14 replied to Shooter14's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
Is there a different rule for gun store owners? I see employees carrying there. He could pay me a nominal fee as an employee for my time. -
My father owns a business and will be traveling over seas next month. I will be taking care of the business while he is gone. I do not work for the business but help him out while my parents travel. I did work for him during high school and college. My function is to collect cash money at the end of every day....about an hour of time a day. I'm I legally allowed to have my Sig 229 on me while at the business? It's not the best of areas.... I will carry the firearm unloaded to the business in the trunk and ammo in my car from my home to the business. I would not load it until on the actual site. Any help would be much appreciated! Been shooting handguns , shotguns and all types of rifles since 1992... Really enjoy reading the forum!
