Monmouth county is a pretty generic area. Each township is different. I am in Howell and mine took 6 weeks (applied on 1/14 and got my FID and P2P's on 2/26). However, other townships may be different. I have heard that the longest holdup in monmouth county is the mental health checks though.. my thought is that you might be getting the letter/call any day now that they are ready to pick up.. but that's just a theory

i think when we go to visit the in-laws for mothers day, i might make a pit stop to a LGS over there (will have to find out where one is) to see what they have

Amen to this brother.. I will be in this current situation with my first handgun in about a week. I have been going through this situation with our first shottie.. ended up being 9 days for nics, but there was a WHOLE story behind the purchase and pickup of that shottie.. really was a very bad experience overall, but i am in the home stretch on that one (thanks Steve).. now comes the pistol whenever that gets delivered to Steve.. been so anxious about all of this, and its just more "hurry up and wait and then wait some more".. they make it so that you basically cannot use more than 1-2 permits in the 90 day time frame and maybe 3-4 in the 180 days... for those of you who remember the better times, im sure its even more frustrating for you folks.. -
HAH.. its funny you mention that area.. my in-laws have a house on Wallenpaupack and that is their main residence.. right on the lake actually, in Paupack Hills
-
i was under the impression that you had to do NICS in NJ and have it done at a NJ FFL if your primary residence is in NJ.. (handguns).. long guns are completely different, you can certainly get those in PA

thank God my wife doesnt want that girly crap.. lol... she likes the stainless look like i do..
-
i voted (i,e, NOT for Obama) before i was even a "new gun person". so its interesting that you assume people that dont have an arsenal or a small ammo-depot are closet dems or didnt vote at all.. strange theory

i plan a ruger 10/22 purchase in the future..

with the shipping added in, seems like not as great a deal.. but its available.. heard UMC is dirty ammo (?)

Interesting.. My refs weren't the last thing I waited on, it was the county mental health check, but it was only about 2 weeks after my refs and then it was done.. 6 weeks total -
I agree with this.. I'm one of those new shooters as well..
-
Problem is, those of us just getting into it dont have anything to start with.. Not that I would blame anyone with mini ammo-depots because I might be one of them if I had started earlier.. Heh

hmm.. let me guess which Ocean County range that was... lol

definitely fake.. could never happen anyway, the auto lobby is wayyy more influential than the NRA anyway. -
nope, never shot a 22.. until New years Eve, I had never shot any gun (other than a BB gun when i was a kid) ever. I am what you guys call a "noob", but really got hooked and am just soaking up all sorts of info!

I think it varies from town to town.. My town sounds pretty easy going about extensions (they mentioned the extension possibility up front when I picked up my permits). Ymmv

6 calendar days or business days.. I'm on 7 calendar days for our shottie and with nics being closed on Sundays it will be 9 calendar days before any chance.. Just frustrating.. I'm sure we're all feeling it

i wish i got it back today from last Saturday. i went to my FFL last saturday and its not back yet (AFAIK),
