    Girl guns

The same question was just asked on Facebook - in 'NJ Guns For Sale'. My comments there are the same for here (copied from FB) Ruger has several different colors, including pink, for their LCP and LC9. I, for one, would never buy one...they look too much like a child's water pistol. Take a look at the Ruger web page under 'dealer exclusives'... If you have little kids in the house, you DONT want one of the pink or lavender Rugers....they look too too toy-like and I can see nothing good coming from that combination.
  2. Just checking 'everything' and I think I will try and make this one...
  3. "Foglia feared that people -- including those "who want to build pipe bombs" -- may break into the facility." Where do you start with that level of stupid???
  4. Hmmmm.....very tempting....I dont think i have anything to do on Sunday, but its a pretty good ride from south jersey...
  5. I looked at that and all I could think was O...M...G...
  6. Sorry...I thought it was only a problem with rebounding firing pins (the 870 and the BPS), which is why I didn't post this two weeks ago, when they were having problems. My Winchester over/under has positive firing pins, and neither barrel would fire the problem shells. Yes, it was pretty cheap by today's standard - $54 or $56 a case (I forget which) back in August/September.
  7. If you have any of the shells left-over, take a look at the depth that the primers are set into the shell. The variation in depth is pretty obvious to the eye, or to the fingertip.
  8. More I think about it, the more I wonder if the various manufacturers are spitting-out the shells a little TOO fast...
  9. New - purchased a month or two ago from Tip's. I am still on the first case - they are different lots, and I am hoping this issue isn't with the other cases I have. But it's frustrating...my first round was a 20 (with my last box of Remington) but round 2 was a 17 and i dropped all the way to 12 for round three with the Estates. All because with each clay pigeon, I'm wondering if the gun will go click or bang....
  10. NOW I know what the problem is...Mikeythumbs is the culprit!
  11. Has anyone else run into a failure to fire issue with Estate shot shells? I have a couple of cases of Estate 12 gauge #8 target ammo, and it seems that there is one or two shells in each box that won't fire. I've tried them in three different guns....an 870 wingmaster, a winchester 96 over/under, and another shooter's browning BPS...seems there's one or two duds included with every box. What I do see when looking at the base of the shells is the primer seems more recessed into the shell on some; particularly the ones that won't fire - which I suspect is the problem. The primer is dimpled, but not hit hard enough to fire; even with repeated firing pin strikes. Has anyone else run into this with Estate's ammo? If so, any luck with returning them to Estate? Or, am I stuck with a load of crappy Estate shells?
  12. The sales staff MUST dream this up to amuse themselves....no one can be that stupid.
  13. Always liked the look of that grip style myself...how does the wood/santoprene feel?
  14. Concur with the guess that its a supermatic trophy. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=374637516 Shot one in college, when I was on the pistol team (imagine that NOW). They're magnificent pistols, though the reserve price cited on the above auction is high. That pistol is in phenominal shape, but they'll never get $985...
  15. Bought a .357 "pistol pack" years and years ago....with the 8 inch barrel on, the thing is amazingly accurate. But I am finding that I am hankering more and more for a nice 4 inch K-frame. The other thread (for a $269 model 10) is getting me thinking about goin and getting a purchase permission slip
  16. I know I WANTED to shoot my wife's Taurus several times....oh, you mean the gun? Not the Ford? Never had one.

    Ham radio

Check out: http://www.arrl.org/what-is-ham-radio for more info about Ham Radio. I, along with several others here, can go on for hours discussing this topic. In short: - There are three "levels" of licensing - Technician, General, and Extra. Each requires a test, which can be taken at various times and locations throughought NJ. Morse code testing is no longer required. - Ham operators, depending on their level of licensing, have access to various frequencies across the spectrum. Technicians (first level of licensing) have full access to VHF/UHF frequencies, and a tiny bit of HF. Generals have access to everything a Technician has, as well as a broad swath of the HF spectrum. Extra's have full access to everything a ham op can do. - VHF and UHF are generally "line of sight" limited. Kinda like what the police and fire companies use. HF is intercontinental/worldwide communications. Generally stated, If I wanted to talk a few towns over, I would use VHF...If I wanted to talk to Colorado, or Germany, or something distant like that, I would use HF. - VERY generally stated, HF and Shortwave are the same thing. The shortwave broadcast stations have their frequencies, Ham operators have their allowed frequencies within the "bands". - Equipment can be as expensive or as inexpensive as you want it to be. There's a large market for new equipment, as well as a flouishing market for used. We call the shows "hamfests", but otherwise, it kinda like some other hobbies discussed here... And yes, W2MC is my callsign.

  21. Sadly, its a re-application. Start over.
