I have read a lot of the forums. I think a lot of the tools might bring me out of my price range.

In the next few weeks to months I want to get an AR style rifle. I am more into handguns, owning many from Glocks, rugers, smith and Wessons and sigs. I own a 12 gauge and Remington .270 for deer hunting. The only thing missing is an AR. I used to have a mp15-22 which I loved, but sold it during last years AR craze. Made a nice little chunk of change on the sale. I have read many of the forums and topics on building, mil-spec vs commercial. All informative, all making me more confused. It doesn't matter if my AR is mil- spec or commercial, but want it to be reliable. It will be used as a plinker, 50-100 yards, and if the need ever came around, home defense. Please let me know what you think. I wanna spend less than 700, and know I can pick up a mp15 sport model out the door for under 700. The forums are a great place for information and opinions so help a fellow shooter out!

My town has typically been 40 days, but with my last set of permits, I am coming up on 3 months. I'm thinking they are slowing me down because of the amount of purchases I've made in the past 12 months. Just my conspiracy at least.

NY State concealed carry map
Gunnz replied to Newtonian's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
Used to have a full NY ccw , then I moved to jersey. Didn't know about the business owners could get a CCW. In my old county, Ulster, to get a carry ccw, you have to have a meeting with a judge. -

While visiting my parents in the Hudson Valley (Kingston area) I stopped by a few places to find ammo. Gander mountain had nothing, so I went to Dicks. I know people on the forums don't like DSG, but they had plenty of ammo (I got 9, 40 and 45) all at reasonable prices. I presented them with my DL and FID. And the guy had no idea how to process it. He said he needed a pistol permit. I explained that in Nj, a permit is only purchase a pistol while the FID allows is to buy long guns and pistol ammo. Again, he said he needed a pistol permit. I pulled out my Florida CCW, and then gives me the ammo. What a circus. Good thing he allowed the transaction to go ahead.

My friends dad used to shoot in completion, and reload his own 45. He no longer shoots, and is giving all of his reloading equipment to me. I've never reloaded, but am eager to learn, and save some money on ammo. My buddy said he also has about 300 rounds of reloaded 45, problem is it's been sitting around for 10-15 years. He said it's been kept in cool, dry environment, but would it still be safe to shoot? Don't want my brand new 1911 to blow up. What are everyone's thoughts?

Took my new full size 1911 to the range today and was very impressed. I have never shot a 1911 before, and it might have been the smoothest gun I have ever shot. Very happy with the purchase thus far.

Thanks or the comments and opinions. I have had my eye on a Ruger SR1911 for awhile. For some reason I find the Ruger very attractive looking. I found both stocked locally at different places and went to check both out. After debate, an driving back and forth some, I went with the FULLSIZE

I know the topic has probably been asked many times on the forums, but In the next two days I am purchasing my first 1911 and want to gather everyone's opinion. So, leave your opinions as to which size I should get. Will probably be used at the range 95% of the time, maybe CCW outta state.

P2P in my town are usually issued in under 60 days too. I know I shouldn't be happy with more than 30, but after hearing other people's horror stories I am happy with my local PD

With OGAM I wasn't able to purchase until the beginning of July..... I get 2 months vacation each summer, so was away in the south from 6/26 to 8/26, so I wasn't able to use them.

I was issued 2 permits from my local police department on 5/10/13. I used one permit on 6/2/13. Other permit expired on 8/8/13, 90 days after 5/10/13. Just got back from a vacation and went to my local PD to ask about an extension, over 2.5 weeks after expiration. (19 days) Lady in the records department told me write a paragraph to the chief explaining why I needed it extended, so I did. Got the permit returned to me today....... Extension GRANTED............ I'm pretty excited! (Also applied for 2 more permits while I was there)

I have a gen 4 g17 and g23. Both are good out of the box. I put in the glock oem 3.5 connector in both, and gen 3 smooth trigger bar , and now they are GREAT.

I have an MP40c and for me the problem of the trigger is with the pre travel and post travel. I shoot mostly glocks and are used to their trigger. With the stock trigger on the MP I was very inconsistent and thought about selling it. I bought and installed an Apex FSS trigger and now the gun is a joy to shoot. Very little pre travel and no post travel at all. Just a Very consistent crisp trigger.

I'm from Old bridge, and had a permit expire while I am away on vacation. I called the police department, and the woman who does the permits said they MAY extended mine even though they are 2 weeks expired
