  1. I read on another post that the 30 days for FID card was mandated. I was under the impression that it was more of a promise rather than something in writing that the PD would process our FID applications and return them. Can someone post a link to the mandate or explain this to me a little more clear? 6/12 will be 60 days I have been waiting for a change of address from Buena PD.
  2. Why would the military need to take it back? Its already in the hands of LEO who will basically follow orders in the same manner as Mil
  3. Sounds like the Chief was making friendly small talk. I guess it depends on the "tone" of the questions. Either way, they should have given your buddy the forms he needed and explained to him how to fill them out.
  4. I think we are down to one. Those who dont remember are doomed to repeat.
  5. If a group of armed "officers" asks, you really have no choice but to comply. Anything else would be suicide.
  6. My take from this might be a little different then most of you. Why did he get pardoned? He admits to and there is little doubt that he was driving around with a loaded pistol in his glovebox. In NJ that is illegal. He broke the law and got away with it because no one wants to send a otherwise good black man to prison for a tiny mistake. He forgot there was a loaded gun in the glovebox. I sure dont forget where I leave any of my guns. EVER loaded or not. If the law had been challenged in court and proven unconstitutional that would be a win for Steffon and us. As it is Steffon hit the good fortune Lotto and the rest of us are still going to face jail if we are pulled over with a loaded weapon in the car because its still illegal. The same thing goes for Gordon Gilder, he broke the law and got away with it. We cant choose when to enforce and when not to enforce laws. We must have laws that are just and enforce them as they are written.
  7. I wish more of them would speak up to the general public. The guys I know were basically peasants in the old country. They watched soft tyranny happen slowly with the public approval. Before they realized the end plan it was to late. History is due to repeat itself and it will. Open up a bottle of wine with those old europeans and sit back and listen. When they are gone (and most are) things will play out much faster. The big change this time is Islam getting into the mix. The players change a little but I think the end game is the same.
  8. My father was born and grew up in Hungary. The things he watched the governmen and Aly governments do to the citizens stayed with him all his life. Your right. They round up the weapons with buybacks and public service "for your safety" type propaganda. If a group of police or gov officials come to your door to inspect your gun, what do you do? You really have no choice but comply. Then they have free reign. It happened many times in other parts of the world. Hope it never does here. I will say that all the old timers I know who grew up in the old country don't like what they see happening for the last decade or more.
  9. You do that at an nj school? I won't even pick my daughter up from school if I have ammom in the car. Lil that's an amazing oportunity for the kids to get to see firearms properly and safely used. I wish all schools did something similar.
  10. I would be concerned about you felling anything that requires a 24" blade if this is your first chainsaw. I have dropped more than a few trees and they usually go where (approx) I want, but once in a while they surprise you. With a 4" tree not such a big deal. With a 20"+ tree thats major. BTW- I have a Husquvarna Rancher 450 with a 18" blade. So far its been a great saw and I expect it to last a long time for home use and cutting firewood. Dont know if that model would hold up well for a pro, think its more geared and priced to homeowner level.
  11. Saw these on another forum www.pocketcannons.com. Cool little cannon for entertainment or defending the fortress. Would this be considered a destructive device in NJ or could it actually be legal? I guess its a primitive weapon no different then a black powder gun. Aside from that. I can see the manufacturer getting sued over people injuring themselves or neighbor with these little things.
  12. I have bought a pistol and 2 rifles as well as some ammo from gunbroker. Twice I got rock bottom pricing and the poor condition of the firearms reflected it. 1 rifle I purchased was well above expected condition and below FMV. I also bought some vintage 45 ammo at about 25% of the going cost. In my experience its like any other auction site. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose and sometimes its fair. Most of the more reputable sellers will list a phone number and it doesnt hurt to contact them with questions. As with all auction sites dont buy from those with negative feedback.
  13. The mags I have seen have a nylon block pop riveted onto the bottom plate. The person I know who does this actually makes them all 14rnd. Reason being, if made to 15rnd with such a long spring it may be possible to wiggle another round into the mag. At 14 rnds there is no chance of compressing and wiggling 2 rnds past the spring. This infor is from a very reputable LGS. I in no way endorse or recommend the practice of bringing high-cap magazines into NJ, offered only as an example. I have also seen mags pinned from the side then a little tack weld on the spring, however they dont function as well from my experience. Personally I buy all 10rnd mags for my 1911/9mm, AR, 22/45, B96 etc... I like to have the same round count throughout all my common guns. When shooting steel or other comp it makes it easier to count out.
  14. Vineland PD- For those of you waiting. I moved from Vineland to Buena about a year ago. Never had an issue with VPD getting my permits. Wait was always between 2-6 wks from time I put in app. Last time was right before I moved. I dont know if that info will help or hurt but I thought I should share. Buena Boro- where I am now has me waiting 6 weeks as of 6/1/15. I am going to contact NJSP and see if the delay is at their end because IMO thats a little long. Buena officer in charge of FID Ofc. Vierra seemed friendly enough and didnt lead me to believe that anyone would be purposely holding it up locally.
  15. Isnt it illegal to trap game without a trapping license? Do live traps fall outside of trapping laws? Isnt it illegal to move wildlife without a permit? Beyond that. Years ago a wife whom caught her husband cheating thought it would teach him a lesson to shoot him with a pellet rifle upon his return home. Unfortunately the pellet hit at the wrong angle and went through his lung and lodged in his heart, killing him. So the story goes. I couldnt find a historic article. I did however find several deaths by pellet gun around the country
  16. Buena Boro (landisville) Atlantic County I submitted my request for change of address and 3 PP on April 14th and checked in with local PD yesterday June 1st. According to them (Ofc- Vierra) they are waiting on SP to reply. My references told me they received and returned the questionnaire back in mid May. I never waited longer than 4 weeks for Vineland PD to contact me with my my FID or PP. Should I be contacting the Hammonton SP barracks or am I supposed to wait it out. I have 2 of the 3 PP filled (21' Colt 1903 & original 42' Colt 1911) and waiting at local LGS for me to pickup. Anticipation is driving me crazy.
  17. Thank you for the suggestion. I will check them out now. I still have 90 days on my permit to find one. But, I dont want to procrastinate either. It would be terrible to find the perfect gun after the permit is used or expired. Then have to wait another eternity to get new handgun permit.
  18. If you buy enough ammo to last you an hour it will almost certainly surpass $50. Then parking is free. BPS ammo prices are fair, not the best. I have gone to the Concord, NC many times and even to Springfield, MO. BPS are always clean and friendly place in my experience. I have also gone to "The Walk" in AC many times with the wife for school shopping etc.. Not sure how close BPS is to the Walk but it sounds like a decent way to keep everyone happy. Nothing better for my nerves than sending a few hundred rounds down range.
  19. Im looking to buy a Luger. Anyone seen any at any of the S NJ shops in recent? Also would be interested in any private sales. As popular as they are its not easy to find collectable handguns in a NJ shop. I can find them on Gunbroker and other auction sights, but I prefer to buy what I can see and hold. Looking for a WWII era numbers matching shooter, not a museum piece. Think $1500-$2000 depending on what it is and condition. Budget is negotiable.
  20. I own my own business including the real estate. However its in the neighboring town not my home. Can I legally store my firearms at my business in a safe? How about handgun in my desk drawer? Many times I work late into the night in order to service my customers and seeing as I am alone in a large building it would be nice to be able to have the pistol on me in case it was needed. My father was robbed at gun point at this business many years ago. Its in a good neighborhood and we dont have any cash ever as all transactions are B to B, didnt stop a BG from trying.
  21. I dont have any plans to hit TX anytime soon so I will look into FL permit. I dont feel I need to carry most of the time, but when traveling you dont always know what your getting into on the next rest stop. Would be nice to have a international permit or at least something that worked in the Caribbean.
  22. Not sure this is the correct forum. As a NJ resident its highly unlikely I can get a NJ ccp. However I travel often by car and I would like to get a Utah or other non-res ccp so that I may carry in some states that I frequent. I see FL,VA,UT advertised and I really would like to know the pros and or cons or why choose one over another. I travel mostly up and own the E. Coast but can end up anywhere depending on where the family wants to go.
  23. If you havent already IMO its a good idea to "like" NJ2AS on Facebook. You may find further support or at least get people who you would not normally consider "gun people" into the conversation.
  24. I would like to get my certification for Instructor and maybe RO. No reason other than to have them. Where do I start the process and is it possible to do it in S. NJ or do I need to travel? Also does it open me up to any liability or additional responsibility that I dont have by not being certified?
  25. All my mags are made as 10rnds. You could easily go bankrupt trying to defend yourself in court over saving $20 on a mag thats open to interpretation.
