  1. Thanks I appreciate that info. I was looking for a neat period piece more for the looks but still deemed usable. As for an accuracy build I'd likely look at building an ar. But if tho plans fall thru for the future I'll keep that name in mind if I decide to turn my am into a downrange heavy hitter.
  2. The comb comes up too high. So anything that resembled the original m70 wood is just gonna punch you in the jaw each and every time so as someone else said getting it altered is the only way outside of getting an adapter plate and using ak parts thats assuming they make a yugo to akm adapter. I didn't bother and went the cheaper route and got a tapco stock.
  3. I've shot both, but I prefer AKs over the 3 ARs I've ever shot. If I were going to be doing any competition accuracy shooting in the future i'd take an AR in a heartbeat but for something I keep around as a do or die situation weapon I'd much rather keep an AK in the house than an AR any day. I know the fouling of ARs is way over blown but I'm more in the frame of mind of better safe than sorry. I also don't really mod or deck out my guns so while the AK has a much smaller aftermarket compared to AR, it doesn't effect me especially since I have a yugo. We also have to take into account I'm a relatively new shooter so I haven't picked up on subtle points like triggers and such but I don't really notice a terrible difference in handling or felt recoil and the guns are WAY more accurate than I can shoot them haha. Edit: However as a lefty, safety on AK without an overly expensive ambi one... is a PITA! AR wins a point there.

    Our first 1911

If its a carry get to the range asap and shoot it out from several hundred rounds. Make sure you see if it has flaws. If that isn't an option and ur handy with polish and high grit sandpaper I'd recommend polishing up any internals that make contact just to make sure u reduce hangups as much as possible.
  5. Cool that was more the kind of answer I was looking for. If the optic itself is a shot in the dark then I won't bother to begin with. Thanks!
  6. 922r is more of a scare tactic for manufacturers, no one is really going to know that you have foreign made parts. They would typically only ever have a reason to have your gun long enough to look at it if you did something wrong. And frankly that something wrong is probably more on their mind than taking the time to look at each individual piece of your weapon and wasting man power.
  7. Here's my yugo NPAP. Nothing much done to it except for a tapco m4 style stock. Since it's pinned I removed the adjuster and then cut off the screw so it acts as a third pin for the other 2 i had already blind pinned.
  8. As long as it is not stamped "AK-47/M/74" and you aren't shooting full auto (or don't booger up your trigger messing around to make it accidently burst fire) etc. then its okay. I shoot my yugo npap out at fort dix and my buddy has his saiga. Gone to many ranges besides that and no issues what so ever. As long as your gun played by the evil features rules your fine. https://www.classicfirearms.com/paprifle-2 This is the exact npap i bought. Great gun with a tapco g2 installed... only problem is that yugo bitch slap from the high comb stock.
  9. Yeah, it was more of the fact do they de mil them and purposefully destroy them or are they just "broken" for unknown reasons and it's possible to fix. Im more looking at just something to have fun tinkering with. Worse comes to worse as long as the thing can hold zero I have a cheapish optic that is relatively ruggedized.
  10. https://apexgunparts.com/product_info.php/products_id/4753 Any one dealt with these before?
  11. Thanks for the replies! When my friend and I come up with timing i will definitely make a post on here. I need to put my m70 thru its paces for sure.
  12. Any one here have meet ups or group trips to fort dix? I am originally from the Atlantic City area but I have a friend up in middle jersey. We goto Fort Dix every once in a while to shoot trap/skeet ( i have a pump only atm so i am TERRIBLE at the latter) then usually trek down to the rifle range to pop a couple rounds. However outside our small group of friends interested in guns we typically are alone. We both enjoy the sport of shooting and would love to meet up with some people experienced or not to have an outting. I however always enjoy shooting with those more skilled than I and learning all the tricks of the trade that I can. If there are any FB groups or something that I could be pointed to I would be ever so grateful. James.
  13. http://thegunwiki.com/Gunwiki/BuildAkVerifyCompliance Best tool for when your building an AK. Anything that is checked means it is a foreign piece. For each piece you have that is US made, uncheck it. It will keep a tally for you below and tell you if it is illegal or not.
  14. Your eye is much better at perceiving greens the best. (this is why night vision is green) As long as your sight is that of the avg human a neon green sight is the best, because even against a greenish background, your eyes should still pick up the sights better. Especially if u are using EZ-See targets that typically have orange backers.
  15. Brought in my rifle for me and pinned the muzzle for a great price. Worth the hour+ drive to have him do it. Will gladly do biz again.
  16. http://www.classicfirearms.com/paprifle-2 Had it trasnfered, nics, and barrel pinned by monmouth arms in morganville for under 600 bucks. Really good rifle. The yugo cheek slap is def there, but you can either adjust ur hold a lil, or be like me and spend 45 bux on a tapco ar style buttstock and pin it yourself. And even with the added cost of the stock, I'm still in under 600.
  17. http://www.classicfirearms.com/paprifle-2 Very solid and heavy rifle. But that Yugo stock bitch slap is something else. I'm a lefty and no matter where I held my cheek I either couldn't see the sights or it felt like I was being tapped in the face by a hammer. Great for optics tho. I bought a tapco stock that I will be pinning for 50 bucks on amazon being its very distracting and becomes down right painful.
  18. Great! Steve (remixer) is a genuine guy who - after being apart of another conversation with his otherr costumer - definitely cares about his customers and not just the almighty dollar. I bought an m70 online and it needed to have the barrel pinned. Sadly no one near me would accept the rifle or had no facilities to pin it, eventually I was steered to Steve. Well worth my 1.25hr trip. Will gladly do business again.
  19. I don't hunt so I just buy target loads and HD stuff. Target: I buy whatever is cheapest at my local dick's. Typically look for sales. HD: I have some winchester super x #4 and 00.
  20. I like to keep as similar items as possible and right now my collection is small. 9mm, .45, 762x39, 12ga, 30-06, and the oddball 7.7japanese I want to eventually get a cz 82 so we can add 9mm mak to the list one day.
  21. Got a SP-01 tactical. Great gun even out of the box. DA is a doozy tho. 10-12lbs stock. However since we cant carry here that's not really an issue and with the decocker stopping at half cock its not even an issue. SA the gun is solid and is a pull around 6lb. Tried and true BHP design so it eats anything you throw at it. Also if you need to tweak it to your liking look up Cajun gun works. They make lots of drop in parts. My cz has no creep and now has a 2.5-3lb trigger SA. 7 or so DA.
  22. Steyr's have a similar angle too. Seems to be an Austrian thing. In fact .. You have no idea how long it took me to get my phone to paste that link haha...
  23. Here's my sp-01 tactical with wood grips for a visual comparison.
