  1. Maybe take a rubber mallet and whack on the face of the safe around the dial (probably wouldn't what the dial directly)? Slowly at first and then harder. Might free something up and then the oil/heat recommended above can go to work.
  2. It's just as stupid as the first time you posted it. Check mustang's response.
  3. Guess reading comprehension isn't yours? lol mustang69 lives in NH and is able to source the ammo he wants/needs locally at what he deems a negligible difference in price with what he's sees online. Don't know why that's hard for you to understand. If someone is happy with what a local shop is offering and can afford to pay it, then it's a good deal all around. I'm sure I could get a fantastic price per round if I bought a pallet of .223, but from a practical standpoint it doesn't make any sense for me to do so. My neighbor seems to go through a great deal of .223 so it might be a no-brainer for him. Different strokes.
  4. " He's always been competitive, maybe a $1 a box more than online."
  5. Yes, I think it's the same two or three that are getting talked about, so it's not like there's a mass-failure event happening. Since it's a Glock I think ANY malfunctions/kabooms are going to get a lot of attention. So far the vast majority of the feedback is positive.
  6. Interesting theory on the Kaboom from another forum: Now I am no engineer, but I think it might be an issue with the barrel. I was wondering how they were getting this gun to run on some of the cheaper ammos. I figured the were choking the barrel to try and bump up the chamber pressures. And it looks like I was only half right. I yanked one of my .22lr bullets (just the lead) and shoved it down the barrel with a cleaning rod, just to see what was going on. And then measured it. It looks like the barrel is outside Saami specs for .22lr. Saami calls for .217 Bore and .222 Groove. And the G44 measured .212 Bore and .222 Groove Which means with a .2255 diameter bullet (Saami spec) it is doing a .013 press the full length of the bullet. And is .005 out of traditional specs. I know they have their own barrel profile, but squeezing a .2255 bullet down a .212 hole is a problem no matter how you slice it. So what I think is happening is that they are over pressuring the chamber then the breach is opening a little and then it will blow out all the way around. Needless to say, I don’t think there is going to be a quick fix for the thing. Extra high pressure on a poly slide = bad day that the range. I am glad no one has gotten hurt. https://www.ar15.com/forums/Handguns/Glock-44-kaboom-Update-Glock-response-In-OP/13-193065/?page=4
  7. Looks like there are some reports of Kabooms happening: https://www.facebook.com/233036316782341/posts/2720746188011329/
  8. Unfortunately the frame and slide on the G44 is not interchangeable with other Glocks.
  9. It's great that there are steel parts, but I'd be concerned with fatigue.warping/flex being introduced into the non metal parts over time. If it was a .22lr I wouldn't be as concerned, but with full 00 buck and slugs? That's a lot of stress and energy to the plastic connections and marriage points with the metal. Here's a still from one of his videos that shows gas escaping from somewhere other than the end of the barrel:
  10. I'd go, but I'm afraid I'd end up with a truck full of ammo, magazines, and other gun stuff...again.
  11. I give him points for innovation. I'd hate to be the guy who pulls the trigger when the plastic parts start to fail...
  12. I know this topic gets tossed around from time to time, but I happened across the NJ State Police website and saw this in their FAQ: "6. How do you transport firearms? Firearms shall be carried unloaded and contained in a closed and fastened case, gunbox, securely tied package, or locked in the trunk of the automobile in which it is being transported. If the vehicle does not have a compartment separate from the passenger compartment, the firearm and or ammunition shall be in a locked container other than the vehicle's glove compartment or center console and kept farthest from the driver. As a precaution, ammunition shall be transported in a separate container and locked in the trunk of the automobile in which it is being transported. Ammunition magazines may remain loaded during transportation and shall be carried separate from the firearm." Not sure if/when this was updated, but I don't recall seeing such clear direction on this in the past. The common thinking was that magazines should be empty during transport, but the State Police indicate that it's not a requirement. Will be an interesting discussion point the next time there's a meeting at my club. https://www.njsp.org/firearms/firearms-faqs.shtml
  13. Wow! Nicely done. Don't know if I could get used to the toaster you have sitting on top of the slide, but that's a cool looking Glock!
  14. Wow. If Oklahoma gets hit with this stuff there could be a lot of states that follow...
  15. In fairness they just asked to look at my ID (she didn't even touch it) so they weren't asking for a copy or anything extravagant...
  16. Thanks both for the quick replies. I appreciate not wanting to hand guns to someone without some form of ID. Would my teenager have been able to handle the pistols at your places? Wish I lived closer...
  17. Is this actually a "law" or is it a CYA measure that gun shops have in place. I went into Reloaderz so my teenager and I could check out the new Glock 44 and compare it to other .22 pistol's for sale. I had shot it before but my teenager had not, and since he'll be the primary user we wanted to be sure about comfort/fit/handling before buying. I was expecting the girl behind the counter to ask me for my ID (she did) when I asked to look at the pistols, but when I went to hand it to my teen she said that he needed a FID to handle the gun. I pressed her for more detail and she said "it's against the law for him to handle it without a NJ FID card". I asked her why I could turn around and go into the range and have my teen SHOOT the gun with live ammo, but not couldn't hold it unloaded? No answer. Just saying that NJ "laws" are really crazy and complicated. I'm not buying a gun there (obviously) and the more I go in the less I like it. I'm assuming the FID card thing is the norm in NJ now???? /rant
  18. Athlon Argos is also a good value scope - https://www.amazon.com/Athlon-Optics-Riflescope-Illuminated-Reticle/dp/B0157N4640/ref=sr_1_14?crid=CQRQ3AGFCEDX&dchild=1&keywords=vortex+first+focal+plane&qid=1579820523&sprefix=vortex+fi%2Caps%2C262&sr=8-14
  19. Maybe. I can't figure out the logistics either, but he could have been doing something stupid like shoving it around to make room in the drawer, grabbing it when it slipped/dropped, who knows...
  20. "But can anyone give any feedback between the two?"
