  1. Last night we were transferring ammo to Plano boxes and came across one that was shorter than all the rest (see photo). No manufacturing process is 100% perfect so I would expect this from time to time, but the question is, what to do with it? My gut feeling is that it shouldn't be used, but can more experienced firearms owners here on the forum confirm or contradict that please?
  2. Hope this is the right forum to ask this. Have searched on Google and here but could not find clarity on the following. Any input would be appreciated. I am a frequent business traveler to Texas. Very refreshing to be able to browse the aisles of ammunition(mostly shotgun) at sporting goods stores there. On my last trip several weeks ago, I flew from DFW to Newark with some shotgun ammo I purchased. As this was my first time doing so, I carefully researched the associated TSA and airline rules. Flew via American Airlines into Newark and encountered no issues. This coming week will be flying Delta Airlines via LaGuardia Airport(Queens, NYC) and would like to again bring home some ammo from Texas. I have extensively read the many online posts concerning the many NYC laws and PERILS of flying into, and especially out of, a NYC airport with a firearm and ammo. (Basically don't do it.) However, I will only be transporting ammunition (properly packed per TSA and airlines rules, less than 11 lbs, etc.), no firearm. Have not been able to find any mention of any special NYC restrictions against flying into NYC airport with just ammunition. Any feedback, links, etc that you could share in this regard would be appreciated. I really enjoy browsing the aisles in Texas and purchasing some ammo there, but don't want to be exposed to breaking any NYC laws upon my return. thanks, Art
  3. Check out: http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/ammo.html Decent deals, by today's standards, on 9mm and .40. The .22s aren't TERRIBLE if they are truly match-grade.
  4. I was in East Stroudsburg tonight. I've always wanted to visit Dunkelbergers (http://bit.ly/10iYH2F), and I finally got the opportunity. They have more ammo than Cabela's, and just about anyone online. Picked up two 525-round bricks of .Federal "champion" 22lr for $39.99 each, and 2 boxes of .38 sp for $24.99 each. I know these prices are way higher than 2 years ago, but they're much, much lower than you'll find anywhere online. Especially the .22s. I almost paid $240 the other day, plus shipping, to have some schlemiel send me 2,000 rounds of .22s from Wisconsin. Glad I waited. Saved $20/brick plus shipping. There's a 2-box limit for each caliber. Bring a friend, buy him a beer and a burger at one of the local establishments. 6% sales tax. They also have a very fine selection of used and new long guns of just about any caliber, and a ton of handguns.
  5. I was just browsing a couple of ammo dealers online. In both places I saw "Will not ship to...New Jersey." Since when have mail order sales been illegal? Or are the dealers just afraid to do business with anyone in NJ?
  6. Here is a question, if you were only able to take one pistol with you in a bug out situation. What caliber would you bring. 9mm, .357, .40sw, .45acp. What do you think will be the most available to resupply if you should run out of ammunition. I was talking with a guy at the Range last night. He was telling me, how a .40 & .45 are only really american rounds, where as 9mm being a NATO round, is worldwide. Granted, not that I think about hoping on a steamship. Just curious what others may think. I own, a .45, .40, and .357, but do not own a 9mm yet.
  7. Hey guys, As I delve further into the world of firearms, I am coming across a wider variety of ammunition. Had a few questions regarding corrosive ammunition: How do I identify what ammo is corrosive? Any particular brands or is it mostly surplus ammo? Is there such a thing as corrosive handgun ammunition? Is there any special way to clean a firearm after shooting corrosive ammo? Thanks!
  8. I had problems buying handgun ammo from Midway in the past, but sending a scan of my FID was all it took to get it corrected. However, today I got this message when purchasing: We're sorry, but City or State law prohibits us from sending item(s) in your cart to the address you have specified. As of April 1, 2008, New Jersey statutes will not allow sales of handgun ammunition to New Jersey. Does anyone know what statute this is referencing? I hadn't heard anything about this before.
