sroc112 24 Posted February 22 Located in Monmouth county. Looking for a reputable shop to do some compliancy work on an AR (stock pin, muzzle brake supply and pin/weld, file bayonet lug). Looking for suggestions based on positive experience and good pricing. Spoke with RTSP in Randolph today and their pricing was crazy, would cost me more than the entire rifle. Willing to drive up to about an hour.
louu 399 Posted February 22 The Elmer gun company in upper Deerfield NJ is an FFL 07 manufacturer 856-364-1031. Surefire breaks are $85 Pin & weld, lug removal and stock compliance is $65 for the entire package
sroc112 24 Posted February 22 That's insane. Comparing that to what RTSP quoted me is absolutely insane. Meaning the prices you just stated are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. Will check it out, thank you!
High Exposure 5,664 Posted February 22 Tier One Defense (was a standalone gunsmith shop) just merged with RTSP. You’re getting boutique custom gunsmith prices instead of gun plumber/armorer prices. He does do beautiful work. You're just going to pay for it.

He did a muzzle brake pin/weld for me a few years ago, I believe he still does compliance work. https://monmoutharms.com/
sroc112 24 Posted February 22 Emailed with Steve, quoted 140. Comparable to Elmer but a hell of a lot closer.

Beware that Steve likes to talk, so if you give him a conversational inch during your visit he'll take your ear for a mile ride.

shufly 34 Posted February 25 I was in there today, for nothing. Going in it was insanely packed but they were answering the phones. Not sure why your have trouble reaching them
sroc112 24 Posted February 25 Yeah idk, it's all good I have 2 other shops I've been in touch with that have been helpful. I'll proceed with one of them. Both of which are less than half what RTSP was quoting me. Met both in person as well, good people.

Howell Gun Works has a good reputation as well.
Buck Russell 2 Posted March 19 Makes me thankful that my son is a welder. Free compliance work is pretty nice.
