mikeyboyeee 66 Posted December 4, 2009 So, I bought my M&P 9 full sized without mags because I got an aweosme deal on one with facotry trijicon night sights (which they don't offer anymore). Couldn't have the 17 rounders shipped. Had my buddy be on the lookout for me when he went with another friend to a NY gun show several weeks ago. He found a guy who said he had modified 59 series mags that fit the M&P. I thought he was full of it, but I spoke to him on phone and he assured me they work. So, for $20 (said they were usually 30) my friend picked up one for me. Well, the regualr 59 does not even fit in the M&P, but this modded one did last night and it chambered a snap cap NO problem. Only thing is that it does not seat flush all the way up against the butt, but maybe sticks out 1/2" or so. I will shoot it soon to see if it is reliable. if it is, we have an easy solution to our 15 round M&P mags for 9mm. I have the guys phone # in case I want to buy more Will keep u posted. njluger 5 Posted December 8, 2009 Sounds promising. Please let us know the results of your range trip! Also, could you post a picture of how the mag looks when it's inserted into the pistol?
mikeyboyeee 66 Posted December 8, 2009 After some more testing, it appears the mag does not lock into place. I am going to see what the story is. I am going to wind up calling the guy who sold it to see what he says (if I can read the #). At least my 3 -10 rounders came today and my buddy did mod a 17 into a 15 rounder for me
jersey_emt 2 Posted December 9, 2009 Interesting. I have a S&W 59, and it has a 14-round magazine, not 15-round. If there is anything that I can do to help let me know -- maybe you want to compare an unmodified 59 magazine with the one modified to fit in the M&P so you can more easily see what needs to be done to modify the mags yourself. I have 2 umnodded 59 mags. They are the pre ban 15 rounders. I am going to mess more with it tomorrow and see what I can do. If I can get the mag to lock in, then I will have my machinists mod my other 2 for me. I will post pic of the modded and unmodded 59 series tomorrow.
