Has your wife ever shot a gun? Only reason I ask is because many people think "get the smallest handgun I can find" when they think of guns for their ladies, but most of the time it's the worst solution. My wife HATES my Ruger LCR but likes my Glock 19. If it's for your wife, something like a .38 with a 4" barrel like a Model 15 or a Model 10 might be a better option.

 

My son is recoil sensitive and likes the Model 10 a lot more than the Glock 19. The Model 10 in 38spcl is very calm.
