NJKen 23 Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) I have a friend of a friend who ordered an AR10 (not sure what particular one) online and had it transferred to a NJ FFL. The FFL gave it to him after paperwork and all is well, rite? Not quite rite in my book... I dont think it was jersey legal. We told him to get that thing off the farm! So, my question is, if someone orders something that isnt jersey legal does the FFL have an obligation to refuse the transfer or does that fall entirely on the buyer? raz-0 1,259 Posted February 21, 2012 The ffl is supposed to enter it in there assault weapon registry, and only transfer to allowed persons. Might be legal, might be a whoops.
Anselmo 87 Posted February 21, 2012 Why don't you think it's jersey legal?

YWHIC 18 Posted February 21, 2012 Is the Brake/Comp (if it has one) pinned/welded..?? does it have a collapsible stock (is that pinned??) does it have mags over 15 rounds?? I got my MagPUL LR20's from Riflegear already pinned for like $29.. if you have any of the above that are not pinned/welded or blocked then YES your friend would have an issue in NJ.. or if he just has a flash-hider then thats also an issue.. and a no-no.. heres my NJ legal DPMS LR-308 that I had till December.. Brake pin/weld and blocked mags.. no collapsible stock.
NJKen 23 Posted February 21, 2012 Part of the reason I brought this up is that I would like to get a specific Black Rain Ordnance AR15 that would need to be brought up to New Jersey code. If I just order it from (whoever) and have it shipped to a New Jersey FFL i dont want to get stuck at that point. I need to figure out how to do this. The couple FFL's I deal with dont really want to touch this. Ken

Dan 177 Posted February 21, 2012 Simple, FFL can have non-NJ friendly guns sent to them, then they would have to do the work in order to make it NJ friendly before xferring it to you. Not all FFL's want to or can do the compliance work (pin brakes, stocks, etc), you just have to find one that is willing.
lunker 274 Posted February 21, 2012 You can talk to Matt at Shore Shot. He does their AR work.
