I would stay away from the heavy barrelled target and get a carbine 10/22. Also, I would buy an older one. The ones that were made in the last two or three years, are not made as well.

 

 

How do you figure that? What's made differently on the 10/22 today, that different from 5-10 years ago?

I know the trigger guard is plastic along with a few other things. Whatever... He'll be psyched.

 

FWIW, the target gun would be for me, not him.
